Preface.
Another dream, another desire –obsession, drives me now.
Chapter 1 – Recognition
Every night, misery consumes me. Why? Because I do not know if I’ll ever find someone, someone like Ian. No, no snap out of it, Ian is fictional, Ian is not real. Then why do I yearn for him so? Is it his eyes, his passion, his decisions, his imaginary lips, his figure, what? It’s everything. This is going too far, but I can’t seem to get over this fictional yearning, hoping to find some guy just like him. Ironic isn’t it? Meyer shouldn’t have influenced me like this, I should have been objective while reading her book, but we all fall for that world that we read in her novel –all of us, even those who don’t admit it.
Damned, brain-washed, I lay on my bed thinking of all these things, I burst in laughter –HOW IMATURE IS THIS! I shake my head disapproving – denying, really, this desire. I curl myself into a ball, close my eyes and drift away.
Chapter 2 – Dream
Colors, vivid colors everywhere, but only one catches my attention: sapphire blue. I frown in my sleep, not liking this. I try to think of something else, but I’m overthrown, my subconscious refuses to let go, so I let myself have this one more night, a last night – NO, what am I saying ?! I should fight this!
Ugh, I roll on my back and open my eyes. Irritated, I decide to distract myself with music. I put my earphones in place & press play. I change the first song quickly; it’s on the book’s playlist. I decide to put something not so calm – I choose Pearl Jam. With the music’s rhythm, I regain focus on myself. I notice that my hair is on my face; the cover is on the floor & I’m half-way from falling of the bed. I get up & fetch a hair band. It was hot anyway. I lay in my bed thinking about tomorrow, the scorching heat will surely put me in a bad mood like it always does and my friends would be as irritated as I am, just waiting for school’s end so we could travel to our native countries.
Suddenly, I hear the alarm going off, I jump surprised – was it time already? What day was it anyway? I get up, and run to the bathroom. I look at myself in the mirror; my dark brown hair is EVERYWHERE – panic attack! I quickly comb it until it became normal again – medium height & straight. I wash my face, brush my teeth then take a shower.
Finished, I look at the clock – DAMN, am going to be late again! I run down the stairs, grab my food, give my family a parting wave and run down the street to catch the bus.
Chapter 3 –Shock
Once arrived to school, my friends ran towards me with wrapped boxes in their hands –what’s going on? The first one to arrive –Jazz, screams ‘Happy birthdaaaaay!!’, hugs me and gives me my gift.
I felt my jaw drop –today was my birthday? AND I FORGOT?! I quickly regained myself before any of my friends’ notices and put on a huge grin. It touched me deeply that none of them forgot that today was my birthday.
After all the singing, hugs and gifts, the bell rang. We all went to class; same old routine ahead of us, but something was different, everybody was so cheerful –what was going on?!
