Bella-Is she the hero of Saga?

I have no particular love for Bella or Twilight in general, but something that has been bouncing around in my mind is whether or not she is the hero, the savior of the Twilight world. I'm not really talking about whether she was a protaganist or antagonist. She was definitely the main character and good even though she did cause a lot of problems, she somehow did it without becoming a villian, but she didn't really seem to accomplish anything other than becoming a vampire. So, if she's not the hero and not the villian, what kind of character is she?

I should disagree about Bella as the main character. Look here: although Bella is a narrator, first and second books are focused on Edward. Every Bellas thought, move and action are tied with him.

Eclipse is uneven book, with some contradictions.

Only Breaking Dawn is the one where Bella stands in the centre.

She is a storyteller but the main character and emotional centre in first two books is Edward.

 

Look on teams here, in this site: how many Team Edward members on this board and how many Team Bella or Team Jacob. BTW, after movies Jacob gained more popularity - his character and behaviour are changed to good in the movies, and he got some new fans.

and what do fans have to do with it? It just means that people like Edward, that doesn't make him the main character.

Oh, Werewolf. Read the books again. Edwrd is the main character in first books because everything is tied wth him. Every Bellas thought, every activity. Yes, even in New Moon Edward prevails over Jacob.  (In the book. The movie has another story, and you should remember that it is very poor adaptation of book.).

 

Jacob is far from good. He tried to ruin relatonship of loving couple, he sexually abused fragile girl.

If Jacob sexually abused Bella, then Edward definitely and severely emotionally abused Bella. He did things only stalkers would do, watching her while she slept, forbidding her to see certain people, even disabling her car. Jacob is sixteen, Edward is a hundred and seven. Jacob believed with every fiber of his being that he was doing the right thing. Edward said himself that he was being selfish but continued anyway.

 

In the end, it wasn't all about love. It was about how Bella made her choice, despite everyone's objections and the simple logic.
