There was only one story at the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 premiere last night: the public reunion of Kristen Stewart andRobert Pattinson

The stars of The Twilight Saga walked down the red carpet for a premiere of the franchise for the last ever time last night (November 12) and there was no surprise which two of the cast were taking center stage, withKristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson making a public reunion after promotional trails that have seen them take on different territories. The pair looked happy to be in each other's company, memories of their acrimonious summer seemingly all but forgotten as they lit up the red carpet in Los Angeles.

Special cheers were reserved for Twilight author Stephenie Mayer, who surprised by not walking down in an outfit made of pure money, and film director Catherine Hardwicke.

The Twilight series success has been staggering, making household names of all its cast and taking over $2.5 billion at the Box Office globally across its four films. With another smash expected, it's hard to believe that Lionsgate studios are just going to stop with the franchise, with rumours suggesting spin-off films or even a move to TV will continue the commercially hot franchise's life.

'Breaking Dawn' Premiere: Stars Say Farewell In Style At Afterparty

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and the rest of the 'Twilight' cast went all out at the afterparty.

LOS ANGELES — How do you throw a party to celebrate the premiere of the final film in a game-changing franchise like "Twilight"? If you're Summit Entertainment, you pull out all the stops and bring in live animals, props from all five films and treat your most dedicated fans to an early screening of "Breaking Dawn - Part 2." MTV News was proud to be there before, during and after to soak up all the "Twilight" goods we still can.

After a three-and-a-half-hour-long and quite memorable press line on the traditional "Twilight" black carpet, nearly 5,000 lucky attendees packed into L.A.'s Nokia Theater to see the final film. (Kristen Stewart proved to be the chattiest Cathy as well as the most fashionably late.) Also noteworthy here is the fact that Summit made it possible for all the fans who camped out for the premiere in the "Twilight tent city" to see the film a few days ahead of its release. Unsurprisingly, their reactions lit up the social media spheres with very excited and totally satisfied responses.

Following the viewing of "Breaking Dawn -- Part 2," guests and stars alike ventured to the afterparty which was chock full of the most memorable props, costumes and settings from the series. Some of our favorite things on display: Bella and Edward's wedding day attire and arbor, a bunch of "Spartan" gear from Forks High School, Bella's truck, the Volturi thrones and several pieces of that infamous meadow in which we see Edward sparkle for the first time. Partygoers were all over the meadow plots, where they took turns lying down in the fake grass to stage their own Edward/Bella photos. Oh, and the wait staff were wearing black or red Volturi cloaks — a nice touch considering in the "Twilight" world, the Volturi would never "serve" anyone.

So what about the star power? The cast, crew and VIP guests on hand spent time mingling with the crowd and posing for photos, especially the actors who played the new vampires in the final two films, but eventually made their way to one of several roped-off VIP areas. A dressed-down Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, both of whom changed out of their fancy premiere duds and into jeans and t-shirts joined Tayor Lautner, Stephenie Meyer and Mackenzie Foy in one area, the Cullens ended up hanging out in another (Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Elizabeth Reaser, Peter Facinelli, Nikki Reed), we also heard that that tight-knit group planned their own after-afterparty. Apparently Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner had more fun than they planned because they stuck around until around midnight and pushed back the departure time of their flight to the U.K.

For anyone who has spent time covering and/or attending any "Twilight"-related events, this final extravaganza was the perfect conclusion to nearly five years of fanfare, one we'll be thinking about forever.

  1. Bill Condon, Clare Pattinson and Robert Pattinson
  2. Elizabeth Reaser and Kellan Lutz
  3. Taylor Lautner and Stevie Nicks
  4. Tracey Heggins and Mackenzie Foy
