'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' DVD/Blu-ray sales numbers match up with 'Twilight Saga' (Photos)

It appears that The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2's DVD/Blu-ray sales figures are right in line with the film's predecessors in the series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Summit Entertainment at Lionsgate announced today that 3.85 million Breaking Dawn - Part 2 units were sold on opening weekend of the home entertainment launch, which is higher than nearly all of the prior installments.

As a reference, here are the opening weekend unit sales for each of the Twilight Saga films:

  • Twilight - 3 million
  • The Twilight Saga: New Moon - 4 million
  • The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - 3 million
  • The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 -3.2 million
  • The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 - 3.85 million

The Lionsgate rep who spoke on the matter - Executive VP and Home Entertainment GM Ron Schwartz - said that theBreaking Dawn - Part 2 sales figures also have implications for movie disc sales at large. "Consumer demand for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 reflects strength in all segments of the home entertainment marketplace – packaged media, digital and on demand. This is further proof that author Stephenie Meyer has created a timeless classic that moviegoers want to enjoy over and over in a wide variety of formats," he explained.

A final box office count for Breaking Dawn - Part 2 has also now been revealed by the studio, and the film indeed toppled the rest of the Saga in theaters with $829 million worldwide.

UPDATEDeadline.com has additional details of interest regarding Breaking Dawn - Part 2's opening weekend in home entertainment sales, including the fact that Blu-ray sales accounted for 27% of Breaking Dawn - Part 2's opening weekend disc sales, which is higher than Part 1's 22% Blu-ray sales. A reported 3,000 stores participated in midnight sales events across the country.

Taylor Lautner gets sole 'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' 2013 MTV Movie Awards nom (Photos)

Twilight fans are probably going to be pretty bummed tonight as the 2013 MTV Movie Awards nominations have now been unveiled, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 received just one of the year's nominations.

The sole nom for Twilight was for "Best Shirtless Performance" by Taylor Lautner in the film.

Surprisingly, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart did not get nominated in this year's "Best Kiss" category, so the question of whether they'll get the five-peat for the category is null. Nor did the film get a "Best Fight" nomination, despite its lengthy fight sequence on the field. Finally, fans might be surprised to know that Michael Sheen did not receive a nomination for "Best Villain" in the film.

Others among the Twilight faithful might not be surprised by this news, considering last year's severe nomination number drop to just two for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1.

Twilight Update: Kristen Stewart is "Best Mum" as Bella Swan for Robert Pattinson’s Baby, Renesmee [PHOTOS]

Kristen Stewart is Favorite Mum as Bella Swan among English Tween Fans

Twilight Update: Kristen Stewart Voted Best Mum as Bella Swan for Robert Pattinson’s On-Screen Baby, Renesmee [PHOTOS]

It looks like the English world is embracing Kristen Stewart as one of its own mums for British hunk, Robert Pattinson. As part of its Mother’s Day celebration, Britain’s Empire Cinemas has conducted on March 10 a survey asking respondents their favorite cinematic mothers. And Kristen Stewart has it, said millions of English Tween fans.

Beating out, actress Meryl Streep as Donna in Mamma Mia and John Travolta as cross-dresser mom/dad role as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray, Kristen was chosen as the best cinematic mother in a poll by Empire Cinemas held over the weekend.

While the Razzies slammed Kristen as Bella Swan in the final installment of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, the Empire Cinemas noted that Kristen has “struck a chord” among its fans after receiving 89 percent of the total number of respondents surveyed.

Not only did the figure speak for Kristen, but the star who played Edward Cullen’s (Robert Pattinson) wife proved leaving great impact on its audience among the films featuring mothers, shown last year.

''Our customers' opinions are incredibly important to us and we wanted to give them a chance to vote for their favourite movie mum. Cinema goers have chosen three very different but equally amazing characters in film to top the poll,'' Jon Nutton, marking director for Empire Cinemas was quoted as saying by entertainmentwise.com.

Kristen as Bella Swan, showed quite a different character in the final installment of the Twilight franchise. The usually aloof, quiet and “lone sufferer” as she described herself in its first Twilight movie, was seen aggressive and over-protective of her daughter with Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), Renesmee.

The strong connection seen between the two character has helped Kristen garnered the recognition of “best cinematic mothers” by the Empire Cinemas.

From my personal point of view, we might not agree on Stewart's acting skills or her interpretation of a vampire or a mom or both, but this is an interesting piece of news to be shared with you all. ;)

Robert Pattinson And Kristen Stewart Voted Best On Screen Kiss & Couple

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's kiss in the 'Twilight' saga has been voted the 'Best Kiss' at the Empire Cinema's first Alternative Movie Awards, with the final instalment of the vampire saga, 'Breaking Dawn Part 2' sweeping the awards.

We might not have seen them in real life for a while, but it seems that doesn't mean the appeal of 'Robsten' has waned, with their portrayal of the intense vampire lovers, Edward and Bella, picking up both Best On Screen Couple and Best Kiss.

While they might have been embarrassed by the slew of Razzies they picked up for the fifth vampire movie, the fan voted awards will surely put a smile back on the couple's faces. Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob Black in the movie picked up Best Body, while Welsh actor Michael Sheen scooped Best Film Villan.

But it wasn't just Twilight that Kristen picked up an award for, she was also voted Best Film Hero, for her role as heroine Snow White in Snow White and The Hunstman. But we reckon she'll want to keep that one quiet.

It was during the filming of the movie that she grew close to director Rupert Sanders, with the pair embarking on an illicit affair last summer, exposed after photographers pictured them together kissing in Los Angeles, while Kristen was still with Robert Pattinson.

Pattinson and the brunette were back together for Breaking Dawn Part 2's release in November though and went to great lengths to show just how happy they were as they cuddled up on the red carpet.

Shame there's no award for that!

Check out the full list of winners:

Best On-Screen Couple: Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2' Best On-Screen Kiss: Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2' Best Fight Scenes: 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2' Best Film Villain: Aro (Michael Sheen), 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2' Best Male Body: Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2' Best Female Body: Catwoman (Anne Hathaway), 'The Dark Knight Rises' Best Tear-Jerker: 'Les Miserables' Best Film Hero: Snow White (Kristen Stewart), 'Snow White and the Huntsman' Best Pop Star Performance: Rihanna, 'Battleship'

Again, we might disagree on certain aspects of the movies, but this is interesting and fun to share with my friends here.

Take care, Penny.

Hi everyone, I know it's going to be way past time, but my friend and I are going to go to Forks Washington in September and I have been wondering which is the easiest way to get there from the Seattle side or the Vancouver ( Candian) side?
