The Twilight Saga

This is about Amelie, a half vampire half human girl who is different in a lot of ways to Renesmee. She was created, like a vampire, however the venom didn't have time to spread completely, leaving her part human. She is subject to uncontrolable rages in which she kills hundreds of people with out meaning to. It is set around the time of Eclipse.

Ghost

Chapter 1

I heard my Dad pause outside my door, I thought he was going to come in, but then I heard a meow. Oh, my cat must be outside.

“I need another bookcase.” I said to him.

His response came quickly, “No you don’t I’m sure there’s enough room on your current one.”

He came into my room, his eyes twinkling, he too, turned to look at my colossal bookshelf, which covered the whole of the wall.

“Look, Dad!” I point to the books neatly stacked at the bottom because they couldn’t fit, “They have no room at all!”

Dad smiled at me, “I’m sure you could create a bookshelf on your floor like that.”

I mock-glared at him, and whined, “Daaaad, you know I can’t. You have a day off tomorrow, can’t you build me one then?”

“I will put it on my to-do list.”

I moaned, my Dad’s to-do was about a mile long, and went from jobs that dated years back (painting the bathroom) to very recent jobs (extending the garage). If my bookshelf was put on his to-do list, it would never get done.

“There’s room there!” I pointed to the only spare wall above my bed, “You can build me one like my old room had. You know, the simple wood nailed to the wall, or whatever.”

“No, they had a terrible design. I will think long and hard about it.”

I could tell he was joking, but I followed him out of my room and down the hallway, “Think about it now and then do it tomorrow. It’s supposed to be raining so you can’t do any brick laying. You have all day to build me a bookshelf!”

I had stopped walking, Dad paused at the top of the stairs, “I will put it on my to-do list.”

I groaned and pretended to sulk. I could hear my Dad laughing, I joined in with him.

I knew it was going to get done, either tomorrow or over the weekend. There were two reasons I was positive of this: First, I was an only child and my Dad loved to see me smile, so he did a lot of stuff for me, and second, I was a wildly volatile half vampire half human girl, who with no warning, could massacre a whole village if I got angry. I got most things done for me.

I suppose I felt a bit guilty about being able to have pretty much anything done for me because people were terrified I would eat them, but they were right to worry. Of course, when I got angry, I didn’t mean to kill people, it just happened. And I regretted it deeply later. I always tried to console the families, however they ran away screaming every time they saw me. Sometimes this made me angry and I would kill the rest of them, so I gave up trying to help.

I had never killed someone close to me though. But seeing as I didn’t have any friends, I was an only child and my Mum had been murdered four years ago, my Dad was the only one close to me.

There was one major advantage of being me though. I was born with a very advanced mind. Which meant I had gone to school for a year, but at the end of that year, I knew everything my Dad knew so there was no need to continue my schooling. The Government accepted this and after that they stayed well away from my Dad and I.

Actually, I thought, staring and my bookcase, if someone wanted to hurt me, my books would be a very good place to start.

I loved my books, they were my only companions really. I loved my Dad to pieces, but he was still a Dad. My books consoled me, because they showed me fragments of lives that were so much worse than mine. Even if all of them were fictional.

I was completely sure what the name of my species was, I supposed that technically zombie was the most accurate, because I was dead but then I was saved by the kiss of a vampire.

I absentmindedly rubbed the crescent-shaped scar on my neck. I had never met that vampire who brought me back to life. I’m not that bothered either. Dad said she was nice, with short, black hair, he said she looked more like a pixie than a vampire.

Waking up from being dead, now there was an unpleasant experience. Imagine pins and needles. Now imagine that times a thousand. You now sort of understand how uncomfortable being brought back was.

I slumped onto my bed, murmuring apologies to my cat, Hazel, and turned my iPod on to some random noise. I never really got into music. It was always just background noise, quiet unnerved me. I opened my current book, an enjoyable book about demons. It was relaxing change from the endless romance that made up most of my books. I don’t think the main character in this book was even capable of love. He seemed cold.

I’d already had dinner, so there were no more disturbances that evening. It took me a couple of hours to finish my book, but I stayed up late thinking about stuff. I did it a lot. I talk to myself in my mind. Well, I speed talk. So it was about one in the morning when I finally turned my light off.

:) I'm going to go and get some brain food to help the writers block. Bye!
I'm sticking with ice cream. A brain freeze is the exact thing that I need.
Chapter 11 may be up tonight as well, it is almost done.

Chapter 10

School continued in the same way. The same boring way. In German, I actually fell asleep. The teacher didn’t seem to notice, and my neighbour woke me up before the bell went. It did mean that I had to endue a lot of teasing for the nest couple of days. But either Ria or Alice were with me and they were like suppressants. No anger could get to me when they were near.

School was school, it didn’t trouble me much. The big thing that bothered me was my watcher. Edward knew about him, I was sure, because Edward had been in the vicinity when I was thinking about him. I noticed that whenever I felt him watching me, Edward would look up sharply. But he didn’t see anything either. Neither of us talked about it, or told Alice because we both knew that she would completely freak out at the mention of me in danger. Alice was like a protective big sister to me, even though she was so small. But she knew something big was up, because I felt her anxious eyes on me a lot.

And to top it all, Mike was starting to gain confidence with me. I tried to deter him, but he just wouldn’t leave me alone. I had no past experience with boys, so I had no idea what to do. Bella was extremely sympathetic, and she told me several stories involving a too eager Mike. They would have been funny if they weren’t happening to me. Mike started following me to every class, helping me carry books and be generally annoying.

Mike’s attention meant that I had only received cold glares of Jessica Stanley, which made biology more dire than it already was. Jessica was friends with Lauren Mallory, who, sadly, seemed to have control of the entire student body. I was universally avoided by every single human in the school, expect Ria.

Ria and I were practically inseparable. The Cullens accepted her, probably because she was my friend, and she sat with us at lunch. Also, she came round to my house (I had started thinking of the Cullen’s place as my own now) nearly everyday. The exceptions to this rule were the rare sunny days, where it would have freaked her out to come over. I helped her with most of her homework, seeing as always knew the answers and once it was done we discussed books. Living with the Cullens meant that I had an endless supply of books, which made me extremely happy.

When I wasn’t at school, with Ria or reading, I was researching everything I could to do with my Dad. I hadn’t forgotten him, not even close, he was always in my mind and I was certain he would be until I found out what killed him and got them back. Carlisle had examined the body while I was unconscious that one time, and had told me that it was not done by a human. But this left me a wide variety of species that it could have been.

I was against any stray animal, the timing was too perfect for a stray to wander in and kill him. However I was undecided about hunting dogs, it could have been humans with dogs. Or it could have been a completely different species. It could have been vampires; if they didn’t like me, they could easily have killed him. I had heard Edward talking about the werewolves, who hated vampires and any other creature who posed a threat to human life. That could easily be me. But would they travel all the way to England just to hurt me? It was unlikely. There was a different species of werewolves, but Jasper assured me that none were left in London as powerful vampires had hunted them to near extinction.

So that left me with either humans that had used animals, or vampires. And I had no other theories of why. I sighed and rubbed my forehead, all of this was giving me a bad headache.

A baseball game that Emmett had been watching before he left with Rosalie was still blaring. I stood up and snapped off the power. The silence unnerved me. They had all left to go hunting, and Bella was staying over to keep me company. She had told Charlie, her Dad, that Alice was also here. Right now she was in the shower, the low thrum of the water was loud enough to hear from downstairs.

I slumped back onto the comfy white armchair I had been sitting on and resumed my previous thoughts. If it had been a vampire, which vampire? The Cullens didn’t have any enemies except the oldest and most influential vampires in existence. They had told me all the stories they knew about the Volturi, and by the end of them, I had gathered that they hated having half-breeds alive, unless they could control them.

However I had had a lot of enemies as well. Even though the government kept well away from my family, that didn’t mean they didn’t pay any attention to me. And the government could easily send assassins or something similar to finish me off.

I was getting nowhere. However I did know that if I managed to find who was watching me, I would be able to find out who had killed my father. There was a connection that I had made.

As if on cue, I felt eyes on me. I jerked around to look out of the window, but I saw nothing. Not even the branches were moving. I sighed, and then realised something.

It was almost a tornado outside; the trees were trying to become uprooted. And yet the branches were it felt people were watching me were completely still. As if someone was holding them…

Bella was still in the shower, she would be in there for a while, Alice’s shower was amazing. I wasn’t as fast as any of the Cullens, but I still was fast enough. I hurdled outside into the biting wind, and ran headlong towards the trees. At the exact right moment, I sprang upwards landing in the branches. The tree was filled with people, entirely dressed in black. They took one look at me, and then scarpered.

I snarled in fury and gave chase. But, by the time I had landed on the forest floor, they were gone. I whirled around, desperate to find them, but there was nothing anywhere. I turned one more time, but nothing was there anymore. I growled in frustration and made my way back to the house.

I was now wet and covered in mud and leaves, but I sat down anyway. I would apologise to Esme when she got back. I heard soft footsteps on the stairs behing me, and I turned to see Bella padding down the stairs in her t-shirt and jeans with a towel wrapped around her hair.

She sat down opposite me, “What happened to you?” She asked when she saw me.

“I went outside.” She said no more. The silence stretched out as I thought of the best way to ask her. “Bella, did you ever…have you ever felt like…like something was…I don’t know…just, wrong?”

“Er…Sorry Amelie, I’m not completely sure that I understand what you mean.” Bella told me.

I tried to put together a response that would make sense. I would have to tell her most of the details then, “I get this feeling, almost twice a day, that I’m being watched. And, just now, I felt it. I looked out of the window, and saw nothing, even the branches weren’t moving. But it was as windy as it is now, so I knew that someone was there. I went up into the trees and there were all the people, about ten I think, but they fled as soon as they saw me. They were definitely vampires, because they moved so fast, but I’m not sure who. Do you know…know anyone, anything that could be responsible?”

Bella looked slightly shocked, but then composed herself, “Um…No. Well…no.”

I sighed. Well that was useful. I have no new leads and I sound like a lunatic. Bella is probably revising her opinion of me right now. But she surprised me.

“I know what you mean though. Not about being watched, but I know what it feels like when you’re being…hunted.”

I raised an eyebrow, “You’re not being hunted. Edward would kill anyone who tried to hunt you down.”

Bella laughed quietly, “Amelie, ever since I met Edward, I’ve been nothing but hunted.”

“What do you mean?” I asked, curiosity blazing in every word.

“When I first met Edward, the only thing he wanted to do was kill me. My blood, it was so sweet to him, he wanted to kill me. But he stopped himself, and we fell in love.” The tenderness in her voice was obvious, “Then my blood appealed to a tracker, James. He hunted me and almost killed me, but Edward saved me. Then James’ mate, Victoria, came back for me. Edward was…gone…for a while, so the werewolves in La Push had to protect me. She still hasn’t gone though, she’s coming back. And then the Volturi, possibly the most deadly vampires in the world are going to kill me if I’m not changed into a vampire within the next year.”

Hearing the facts like that, so outright, surprised me. I had never suspected Bella of having a past like that. I looked up to find her eyes on me.

“Do you regret it?” I asked.

“A normal person would. I have faced death so many times, it is unreal. But I don’t, Edward is worth all of it and more.” She spoke with such conviction I could tell that nothing would ever change her mind.

“Are you scared? I mean you are going to have to change and I know that that is very painful.”

She thought carefully before responding, “I’m afraid of the pain, but I’ve accepted that. It’s what I wanted for a long time. When I change, I can stay with Edward forever. It’s what I want the most.”

I thought through her words. I had never actually met someone who wanted to be a vampire, but here as Bella, speaking as if she wanted it all her life. We sat in silence for sometime more, considering each others words. Bella and I were friends, not close, like Alice or Ria and me, but we were friends. I think that is why she told me all of that. Alice would be upset by everything that Bella had said, about her reasons, and yet I was more a third party observer, I didn’t care about what Bella said, it didn’t mean that much to me.

“Do you think it could have been the Volturi? I have heard they don’t like anything unless they know everything about it and can control it.”

Bella looked up at me, “I’m not sure, but I would say no. Alice would see if Aro or Caius sent anyone for you. I’m not sure why she hasn’t already found out who is watching you.”

“Because she doesn’t know.” I said to Bella.

“What? You haven’t told her? Why?”

“Because it would freak her out! And I don’t want her to be worried over nothing.”

Bella fell silent. She seemed to realise that she couldn’t argue with me. That was clever of her. Maybe she had been in these type of situations before.

“I just wish I knew. I just wish I knew.” I said to her.

She nodded and stayed still, as I tramped upstairs to have a shower.
