Our Little Secret ~ Jacob and Bella's brother-sister story (Repost)

Summary:

What if Jacob was Bella's brother, her family? She had wanted this. Billy died when Jake was 6 so Charlie adopted him and he became Bella's adopted brother.

Will Jake be able to heal Bella? Will it be possible for him to get her out of this depression? Her true love is lost, her prince is gone, her future of being a vampire is a distant past dream, and her good vampires aren't going to return. She knows this, but what happens when one of her family, Jacob leaves Bella to protect his secret and Bella? Will he reveal his secret? Who will heal Bella? Jacob or someone else?

A true Blackwater story, Jacob is in love with Leah, probably she loves him too but what happens when he turns into a wolf? Will everything change? Will Jacob loose his family, love and happiness by turning into a wolf?

A tale of change, love, happiness, pain, sorrow, relations…Our Little Secret.

NOTE:

All this takes place in New Moon when Edward leaves Bella hurt and broken. Jake lives with them. And Bella and Jake share a brother sister relationship (sorry for emphasizing here but this idea is new to every one so I m being specific as we have always know Bella and Jake love each other in a different way).

For now Jake is human and he stays in Forks. But Jake is friends with the la push gang and he is real close to them.

Charlie's house is of two floors (ground and first floor), the ground floor consists of living room, kitchen cum dining room and the first floor consists of Jacob's, Charlie's and Bella's room. PS: Jacob is a super cool mechanic, he has his own car (Rabbit), and Bella has her truck and Charlie of course the cruiser.

PS: Please do not copy this plot; I have worked real hard on this.

Chapter 11: Every beginning has an end

Emily’s POV:

Jacob just entered the shop; he seemed surprised to see me here.

Of course he would be. I, Emily Young, Leah Clearwater’s cousin was working here. It would have been good actually to work with Leah and wouldn’t have been surprising only if things wouldn’t have been bad with Leah and me. I love her, she is like a sister to me, but my love Sam was with Leah, he had loved her too but all that broke after her imprinted on me. It pains both of us to watch Leah in this condition especially Sam, I don’t blame Sam for him imprinting on me, infact I too love him unconditionally. I just wish Leah would understand but why will she; I just took away her love of her life. Leah blames us and now we will have to live with it.

I sat on the chair reading a book. The selling was dull today. Ours was the only shop in La Push and things actually went well.

Just then the phone rang.

“Hello,” I said.

“Hey Emily, this is Sue, I need to speak to Leah dear,” said my Aunt.

“Sure, wait a sec.” I said.

“Leah,” I called.

No reply.

“Leah,” I shouted.

No reply again.

“Aunt Sue, I will ask her to call you in few minutes.” I said.

“Okay.” She hung up.

Why didn’t Leah reply? I wondered maybe because she didn’t want to talk to me. I debated whether to go up and tell her. Finally I decided to go.

I climbed up.

To my biggest surprise, I saw Leah and Jacob sitting closer to each other, very close. They were both staring at each other. Leah was moving her hand through Jacob’s hair.

This was so very surprising and shocking. What was going on? Was I disturbing? Yes I was.

I gasped.

Leah’s POV:

Jacob and I were sitting very close together, closer than just friends do. Some part of me knew what I was doing wasn’t right but I couldn’t help myself. I felt happy as I moved my hand across his face and then his hair. I needed to stop but I didn’t. Jacob was so much different than Sam…I shouldn’t compare them but-I snapped out due to a loud gasp!

It was Emily. I moved away from my previous position without looking at Jacob. I felt anger rush through me, I wanted to shake her. The blush on my face was replaced by a flush and I glared at her. I couldn’t help myself, whenever Emily was around I would start glaring, it had become a reflex reaction.

“Umm…sorry,” she stammered in her sickly sweet voice with an apologetic face.

“What are you doing here?” I snapped.

“Sue had called, she wanted to talk to you,” she explained with a weak smile. I felt more anger rush in; I was no where close to smiling.

“So you could have shouted my name right?” I replied angrily.

“Yeah I did but I didn’t get any reply.” She defended herself.

“Right!” I muttered and walked downstairs.

“No Leah,” she continued but I wasn’t anywhere near to here what she says.

I went down to the counter and called my mom’s number.

“Hello. Leah is it you?” she answered.

“Yeah,” I replied irritated.

“Why couldn’t you call me soon?” she asked.

“Mm…” I mumbled trying hard to think of an explanation.

“Never mind,” she stopped me. Whoa she must be busy.

“Where are you mom?” I asked.

“At the hospital in Hoquiam.” She said.

“Why?” I asked in shock. Had something happened to her?

“Well you know Lee; we talked about this before, about getting your dad here for a check up? I just wanted to know about the details first before getting him here…” she explained sighing.

“Yeah,” I nodded. Dad didn’t like going to hospitals but we were starting to worry a lot.

“Okay Lee, I called because I will be a bit late so cook up the dinner for the house…okay?” she asked.

“Sure mom,” I replied. Dinner, I thought and made a face. I wasn’t really a big fan of cooking.

I put the phone down and looked at the clock. Whoa! It was almost time for the shop to close.

I turned back and saw that Sam was here. He was standing feebly trying to hide himself from me. We looked at each other. I started thinking about the old times. I felt pain, he wasn’t mine. Not anymore. Before I could collapse, with a huge effort I turned away from him. I felt tears over powering me. But I held on.

I walked breathing hard, trying hard to breathe. I could barely see anything around me; all I could of was the old good Sam with me and the present cheater Sam with Emily.

I reached the stairs, I took a deep breathe. I thought of Jacob, he would be upstairs waiting for me; I couldn’t let him see me like this. I forced my tears back. I tried to block Sam from my mind.

I went upstairs; my feeble attempt was wearing off. I could feel two pairs of eyes fixed on my back. And another pair was waiting for me. I thought of Jacob and went on. He was the one who made me forget Sam, he was the one who I liked better than any one else.

“I will close the shop? You can lock it later?” I heard Emily say.

“Fine,” I sounded like I was being choked.

I finally reached the last step.

“Welcome back Lee,” he came forward; his always cheerful voice was a bit tensed. So he had seen Sa- him.

“Thanks,” I muttered feeling my loss to the tears.

With great force I pulled Jacob and I walked up the small side stairs which led to a room that I kept for myself. Mom knew I would spend most of the time in the shop so she had the attic kind of room for me. It had all my books, a rug, and I used to bring my home work here. I mostly came here to get rid of Emily.

We went in and I fell on the rug. My legs had given out. I couldn’t stop anymore. I started crying.

“Leah, Leah what’s wrong?” I felt Jacob’s panic voice and then I felt his arms around me.

I turned into his chest and started crying bitterly. I hugged him hard; I felt his hand pat my back. He didn’t force me to tell him why I was crying. He already knew the answer. It felt good to know that someone knew your pain.

But I heard a few words which he kept repeating, “Don’t worry,”, “it’s all right,”

My tears finally stopped. My eyes were dry know. My throat felt hard.

“Better?” he asked as I pulled away. I always had cried in pain and when the tears stopped I was alone but now I had Jacob, my Jacob.

I gave him a weak smile. His face was calm but I could see something in his eyes.

“Want to leave?” he asked.

“Sure.” I replied getting up.

We went downstairs, there was no one, the place was kind of dark, and the ‘closed’ board on the glass was visible.

I went over to the counter to get the keys, I also found a note.

‘Hey, we left the store and I checked in everything.

Sorry about that.’- a note from Emily. Huh! Sorry about that! My foot!

I tore it up.

We quickly shut the store. Jacob offered a lift I agreed.

It was a silent drive home, Jacob kept glancing at me. We reached home. I didn’t get out.

“Jacob,” I said.

“Yes?” he looked at me.

“Never give up on me Jake…never,” I whispered.

He seemed a bit shocked when I first said these words.

“I will never give up on you Leah, I promise.” He said with emotion that touched my heart.

I quickly moved myself closer to and gave him a peck on his cheek. I got out quickly. I reached the other side soon and Jacob was blushing.

“Bye.” I said.

“See ya,” he said and drove on.

Sam’s POV:

Emily and I were now in the car. We left the shop as soon as Leah reached the top of the stairs. I saw Jacob glaring at me. Emily had left a note for Leah. She didn’t say anything probably waiting for me to react.

“I m sorry about what happened,” she finally said.

“Yeah me too,” I replied giving my imprint a sad smile.

“Anyways I have good news.” She said in her cheerful voice.

“And what is that?” I asked playing up her cheerfulness.

“I won’t tell you now.” She said and winked.

“Okay.” I said smiling to myself. How I loved this girl! My soul mate! She was the one who kept me sane.

We reached her place and she led me up to the sofa with a bag of chips.

“What is it?” I asked curiously.

She twisted on the couch so that she could face me.

“Well it’s about Leah,” she said.

“Okay,” I said taken aback.

“Well today in the store I went to call her down, she and Jacob were in a cozy position.” She said smiling. I stared at her in shock.

“I think things will get real serious between them, Jacob seems serious. Aunt Sue also told me about his visits and I m sure he has fallen for Leah.” She said happily.

I still was in shock.

“Now Leah will be back to normal, she will be her old self,” she sighed in relief.

I didn’t know what my face revealed. I was way too shocked. I had seen Jacob and Leah close together but them being in love? No way!  Jacob couldn’t do that.

“Sam?” I heard Emily.

I didn’t reply.

“Sam?” she called a bit louder.

“Yes.” I finally replied.

“What are you thinking?” she asked, her eyes scrutinizing my face.

“Nothing,” I said and turned.

“Aren’t you happy for her?” she asked, her face had a different expression.

“No,” I said in a hard voice. I couldn’t lie to Emily.

“Are you Jealous?” she asked in a cold thick voice.

Emily’s POV:

I told Sam my assumptions, I felt very happy for Leah at last she will be able to move on, be normal. But Sam was lost, his face was shocked. A little bit of anger was on his face.

“Sam?” I called him.

He didn’t reply. I felt hurt.

“Sam?” I called a bit louder.

“Yes,” he whispered.

“What are you thinking?” I asked. In my relationship with Sam there had never been any problem between us, we were a happy couple but now I felt very doubtful about that.

“Nothing,” he said and turned away from me. Ouch! It hurt.

“Aren’t you happy for her?” I asked my eyes tightening, my ears not wanting to hear a no.

“No,” he said in a hard voice.

“Are you Jealous?” I asked tears threatening to over come me, my voice was controlled.

He didn’t reply, he stared at me for a while. I didn’t know what to understand of his silence.

I felt tears flow down. I looked down.

“Emily?” he said, his face softening and then his face was in pain.

He came over to me and put his hand around my shoulders. I shrugged.

“Don’t cry,” he panicked.

“You are jealous, you don’t love me. We are a mistake!” I said in sobs.

“No I m not!” he exclaimed.

“And I do love you,” he continued. I looked up.

“Then why are you not happy for her?” I asked.

“Because Emily, Leah will be hurt again,” he said wiping my tears.

“What?” I asked confused.

“Emily Jacob has no chance. He will turn into a werewolf soon, I m surprised he hasn’t changed yet, he stays so close to that bloodsuckers, and then when he imprints on some one else, he wont have any choice, he wont have any feelings for Leah, he will just be sad that he hurt her, he will just feel like how I feel.” He explained and then took a deep breath.

“Oh!” I exhaled.

“Yes,” he shook his head.

“Poor Leah! I just wish everything goes on fine.” I said and leaned against his shoulder.

“It wont,” Sam disagreed but anyways patted my shoulder.

Some one cleared the throat. It was Jared. Paul and he had arrived.

I back away from Sam and went to bake something for them, Leah was still on my mind.

Jacob’s POV:

The whole drive had been quiet, I kept thinking about our last moments at the shop. She cried for that Sam. I wanted make her pain go away by being her boyfriend and comfort her, love her but I was afraid. Very much afraid to ask her out and risk our friendship. If she said ‘No’ and our friendship broke she wouldn’t even have some one whom she could tell everything.

“Jacob,” she said as we reached her home.

“Yes?” I looked at her.

“Never give up on me Jake…never.” Her voice softened, it was kind of in pain.

I stared at her shocked. I almost told her how I feel about her. Almost.

“I will never give up on you Leah, I promise.” I said my voice huskier than usual.

The corners of her lips pulled up a little.

Suddenly she moved closer to me and gave me a peck on my cheek; I bit my lip and tightened my grip on the seat to avoid myself from pulling her. She got out without looking at me. My face felt hot.

“Bye.” she said coming over to the window.

“See ya,” I said and drove on.

I reached home by eight.

“I m home,” I said as I entered.

Charlie was watching TV; he was much to into the game to notice me.

Bella was in the kitchen preparing dinner, she still looked the way she did in the morning.

“Sup Bella?” I said with enthusiasm to cheer her up.

“Huh?” she said looking at me.

“I said what’s up?” I told her.

She gave me a weak smile.

“Don’t worry everything will be fine,” I said sighing.

“Yeah right, doesn’t look like to me.” she whispered.

“No fear Bella dear when Jacob is here,” I laughed.

“Sure sure,” she said my dialogue.

“Cook fast! I m hungry!” I teased.

“Okay! God I seriously can’t imagine what you would have done without me there to cook,” she said trying to keep up a conversation.

“Mmm easy…we would have died early deaths,” I joked. I thought she would say something funny but she didn’t.

“Not funny Jacob,” she snapped at me.

I bit my lip. This Edward’s family issues were spoiling my sister’s behavior. I had a good mind to shout at him. I took a deep breathe, I felt so angry.

“So how was time with Seth?” she asked misunderstanding my anger.

“I was with Leah actually at her shop, it was fun,” I said rubbing the back of my head.

“Hmm…” she gave me a I-knew-that-already smile.

I rolled my eyes at her.

Dinner dragged, Charlie was in a very talkative mood.

“Where were you Jake?” he asked.

“Hmm…I was at the Clearwater’s shop.” I said hesitating.

“Helping Sue?” he asked trying hard to hide a smile.

“Mm…Leah.” I said biting my lip hard. Why did everyone have to do this to me?

Bella let out a giggle; I kicked her under the table.

“Ow.” She said.

“What?” Charlie asked.

“Stubbed my toe,” she said and gave me a mean look.

“So?” Charlie asked.

“What?” I raised my eyebrows; I knew it was about Leah

“How was school?” he asked changing the subject.

“School was okay,” I said in a bored voice.

“Any tests going on?” he asked.

“Nope,” I answered.

“Bella?” he asked.

She shook her head.

He got up and washed his plate.

“Okay kids, Good night.” He said and went up yawning.

“Night Charlie,” I muttered.

Bella kept quiet.

We finished our dinner and went up.

(Next day- when Edward leaves Bella.)

Today Edward came to pick Bella up. He was not his usual self, I rolled my eyes. I wanted to shout at him, com-on dude don’t be such a sissy, why are you hurting her?

While I thought this Edward’s head snapped up to look at me. I suddenly saw a flash of pain in his eyes.

“Bye guys,” I said and grabbed my bag.

“And Bella, I will be at La Push after school.” I said and banged the door.

School was the most boring thing ever. Again in Literature Alice wasn’t there. I sighed.

Mr. Berty continued with the explanation for the poem which he read yesterday. I almost slept in the class. The bell rang, I got up and stretched myself and yawned.

“Mr. Black,” Mr. Berty called.

“Yes sir,” I went over to him.

“I would appreciate if you would think of this class room as something else other than your bedroom,” he said sternly.

“Sure sure,” I said and waved at him.

He glared at me. Like I cared.

Lunch was very much depressing, Bella and Edward didn’t talk anything, and I tried to start a conversation but both of them very thoughtful to continue with it. This time I really missed Alice! Her cheerfulness would have helped me a lot!

As soon as the school got over I got in the car and drove down to La Push. I went over to Embry’s garage; he was working on his bike.

“Hey buddy!” I said and thumped his shoulder hard.

“Hello Lover boy!” he greeted me.

I rolled my eyes.

“So what’s with your bike?” I asked.

“Some trouble with the wires. I cut the wrong wire and now I have to build those parts again from scratch.” He explained.

“Cool! Want some help?” I offered.

“Sure I do,” he said.

I went to the other side and started checking out the problem.

Time passed away real fast. I didn’t notice when the sun set. I was very much involved with the mechanic work. I loved to do this. I helped everyone in Forks with this.

Beep Beep.

It was my phone. I looked up, wow! It was dark and I knew was very late.

I wiped my hands and picked up the phone.

“Hey Charlie,” I said cheerfully.

“Jacob! Is Bella with you?” he asked totally worried.

“No. why?” I asked gravely.

“Oh no…I can’t find her anywhere!” He panicked.

Chapter 12: Loss

Charlie had just called. He said Bella had disappeared, maybe he was just panicking, and she might be at someone’s place. But it was so not like Bella to do this kind of thing, she always left a note.

“Embry I gotta go man,” I said.

“Sure…does Charlie want you home soon? I thought we will have some guy time,” he stated still working on the bike.

“I guess we will do that later, Charlie says Bella’s not home yet so I really need to get back,” I explained packing my bag pack.

“What? Com-on Jake she is an adult for crying out loud, she is probably partying,” he laughed. I felt angry at once, he had got a complete wrong opinion of Bella.

“You know she is not like that,” I defended her.

“Hmm yeah, shall I come too?” he asked.

“Sure,” I replied.

I drove really fast and reached Forks within 10 minutes.

“Hey Charlie,” I called as I entered, Embry followed me in.

He was in the kitchen, dialing some number.

“She might be at some friend’s place,” I suggested.

“She is not, I called everyone’s place. Anyways she left a note saying she will be in the woods, I searched for her till the trail carried me I couldn’t find her.” He said, worry was plain in his tone.

“What note?” I asked finally becoming serious. He handed the note.

‘Going for a walk with Edward, up the path.

Be back soon, B.’ the note said.

“Why don’t you call the Cullens?” Embry asked.

“That was the first place I called, no one is picking up the phone,” he explained turning toward me.

“Okay! I will call Edward or Alice and check out,” I said and dialed Edward’s number.

Ring, ring, ring, ring. All it did was ring. Why the hell wasn’t he picking up! I felt worried. What if something had happened to her? I felt desperate. I dialed Alice’s number

‘The number you are trying to reach is no longer available’ a voice said.

Hurriedly I called Edward’s number. Instead of just ringing I heard the same voice tell ‘the number you are trying to reach is no longer available’ I snapped the phone shut.

“Hey call the hospital and check out things with Carlisle,” Embry suggested before I could tell Charlie about their numbers out of order; the entire joking mood had gone.

“I never thought of that, I will call up now,” Charlie’s face brightened a bit; there was some kind of hope in his voice. I too felt it.

“Hello, may I speak to Dr Cullen?” Charlie asked after few moments.

“Okay, thanks for the info,” he said and turned to face us.

Our eyes met, I could see the panic in them had exceeded its limit.

“What Charlie?” I asked when he didn’t answer right away.

“The Cullens have left Forks. All of them.” He told us in a horrified tone.

“What?” I shouted.

“Yeah, Carlisle got a new job…” he said, I was frozen due to the shock and then he continued in a grudging voice, “A better job in LA.”

Soon Charlie called a few people to help us find Bella, while Charlie called them Embry and I hurried in the woods.

“Bella? Bella?” we shouted at the top of our voice. We didn’t get any reply. It started drizzling and then it turned into a heavy rain.

We got back to Charlie and saw that many people had arrived, Mr. Weber, Dr. Gerandy, Mike and his dad, Harry, Seth and to my biggest surprise Sam Uley, Paul and Jared! All of them were in their raincoats except Sam and his disciples. Embry and I gave them hostile looks.

It looked like all of them were waiting for us to arrive probably thinking we had found Bella. Charlie looked at me questioningly, I shook my head. We reached the small group. A few of them including Seth and Mike decided to search the neighborhood.

“We will search the woods,” Sam told Charlie.

“She is not there,” I glared at him.

Paul smirked. I wanted to kick them out of here.

“What are they doing here?” I asked clenching my teeth.

“Harry brought them with him, he says they know the forest better,” he explained.

Yeah right! I didn’t say anything. Both of us were worried.

A few minutes passed, I decided to go into the forest again, the area without any trail. Just then Sam Uley came out of the forest.

“I have got her!” he called in acquisition and indeed he had her, in his arms. He started walking toward us. The babble stopped, everyone stared at Bella in his arms.

I stood there shocked, Bella was drenched, her face, her clothes, her hair, everything was covered with mud. What happened to her? Did Edward hurt her?

Same reached us.

“Is she hurt?” I asked not bothering to make my voice stiff and hard while talking to him.

“No, I don’t think she is hurt, but she keeps repeating ‘he gone.’” He explained.

“Bella, honey, are you alright?” Charlie asked, his voice softening.

“Charlie? Jacob?” she called.

“I m right here baby.” He told her.

“Me too,” I whispered.

I automatically held my hands, Sam looked at me.

“Maybe I will hold on to her.” he suggested as he passed Bella in my arms.

“No thanks.” I snapped. I didn’t like my sister to be in arms of some stranger.

Charlie was beside me, he was holding Bella’s hand. As we moved toward the house, people moved aside and created a path for us, it’s looked like a march. Bella’s eyes were empty and in pain. She closed her eyes.

“We are right there honey,” Charlie said and headed to unlock the door.

He opened the door for me; I placed Bella in the living room on the couch.

“Jacob, I m all wet!” she protested feebly.

“It doesn’t matter.” I told her. Seth was back, he stood there looking at us.

“Blankets are in the cupboard upstairs,” Charlie told him and he ran to get them.

The doctor came over; I moved aside to let him check on her. Charlie stood behind the couch.

“Bella?” he called her.

She stared at him for a while.

“Dr. Gerandy?” she asked.

“That’s right dear,” he said and then continued, “Are you hurt?”

She didn’t answer. She stared at him blanking lost in her train of thought. I looked at the doctor, he looked worried.

“I m not hurt.” She said hoarsely. Something about this made me think she was lying. I scrutinized her face; it had the same expression fixed. Pain and loss.

She checked her temperature and pulse and was counting. I gave Charlie a brief glance, his hands were folded and his forehead creased.

“What happened to you?” he asked casually.

“Did you get lost in the woods?” he added. She looked around the people standing who were waiting for her reply.

“Yes, I got lost.” she whispered and looked down.

“Are you tired?” the doctor continued.

She nodded and closed her eyes. Her face was strained, I stared at her.

“Is she okay?” Charlie asked.

“I don’t think there is anything wrong with her, let her sleep it off. And then later I will check on her.” he said. Slowly the place started emptying as he said this

Charlie walked out from the living room following Dr. Gerandy, I followed him.

“Is it true? Did they leave?” he asked, this was the question that I too was waiting to ask this question.

“Dr. Cullen asked us not to say anything. The offer was very sudden, they had to choose immediately. Carlisle didn’t want to make a big production of leaving.” He answered.

“A little warning might have been nice.” Charlie grumbled and I nodded in agreement.

“Yes, well in this situation some warning might have been called for.” He said hesitatingly. It was clear that he felt very uncomfortable while talking against the Cullens.

Seth brought the blankets and handed them to me, I covered Bella up.

We thanked everyone who had helped us and all of them started leaving.

I went to my room and changed my wet clothes. I felt helpless. I heard my cell ring.

“Hello,” I said.

“Hey, it’s me Leah.” She said. She sounded happy.

“Yeah.” I said. I was still worried about Bella. We (Charlie and I) needed to talk to her about it, about what happened.

“Did you guys find Bella?” she asked.

“Yes.” I replied.

“Hmm…how is she?” she asked worriedly.

“Bad.” I told her shortly.

Both of us were quiet for a while. I was too worried.

“Oh, I will come over tomorrow. Bye.” She said sensing my unwillingness.

“Sure,” I said and hung up.

I went down; Charlie was seated in the arm chair.

“Want some coffee?” I asked.

“Yeah,” he replied. He too looked worried.

I made us a coffee and handed it to him. I sat down on the opposite chair from where I could see the couch. Bella was asleep or maybe she was just lying there with her eyes closed.

Ring, ring, ring…

Charlie picked up the phone. He told the person who had called about Bella being found and then his voice changed, I looked at him.

“Where?” he said.

“You’re sure it’s outside the reservation?” he asked after a pause.

“But what could be burning out there?” he questioned. I tried to decipher what he meant by that.

“Look, I will call down there and check it out.” he said.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“Something’s burning in La Push,” he told me dialing a number.

I went over to the couch and sat on the single sofa, my eyes on the table but my ears listening intently what Charlie.

“Hey Harry, no nothing’s wrong with her, yeah she is fine. Mrs. Stanley had called, she say she can see something burning from her window. Is anything happening there?” he asked.

“Oh! And why are they doing that? Uh huh…okay just see to that the flames don’t spread…okay? Hmm and thanks again for bring Sam and the rest.” He said.

I snorted.

“Okay then I will talk to you later,” he said and hung up.

Before I could ask him what was happening, we heard Bella call. I looked at her; Charlie came into the living room and seated himself on the armchair.

“Dad?” she said.

“Yes Bella,” he said making himself comfortable on the arm chair.

She sat up and leaned back.

“Is something burning?” she inquired.

“Well, it’s nothing really.” He said hesitating, “just some bonfires out on cliffs.”

“Bonfires?” both Bella and I asked at the same time.

“Some of the kids at the reservation are being rowdy.” He explained frowning.

I raised my eyes brows wondering why, I looked at Bella, she was aware of Charlie’s attitude to this topic.

“They are celebrating the news,” Charlie said sarcastically.

News? No one told me anything.

“What news?” I was about to say. But Bella beat me to it.

“Because the Cullens left,” she whispered.

Then everything hit. The people at La Push had their own thoughts and feeling toward the Cullen family. They believed the Cullen family were not humans, instead they were the blood-drinkers the “Vampires”. How superstitious! And they were celebrating that! And here was Bella all hurt.  I thought all this and I too felt bitter, just like Charlie.

“They don’t like the Cullens in La Push—I’d forgotten about that.” She continued breaking my train of thought. She knew things better than I did.

“It’s ridiculous,” Charlie commented.

“Totally!” I added. Bella scrutinized me and then turned away.

“Bella?” Charlie asked.

She looked at him uneasily.

“He left you alone in the woods?” he guessed. Anger pulsed through me as he said this, I wanted to get hold of Edward and beat him up.

“How did you know where to find me?” she asked every word slowly.

“Your note,” Charlie answered surprised. He was the first one to see it, I too felt surprised at her question. He unfolded the note and held it up as evidence.

She stared at the note blankly.

“When you didn’t come back, I called Jacob and then I continued calling the Cullens’ place, Jake tried Alice’s and Edward’s mobile phones but no one picked up, so I called the hospital, Dr. Gerandy said the Cullens have left Forks.” Charlie explained.

“Where did they go?” she mumbled.

“Didn’t Edward tell you?” I asked before Charlie could answer.

She shook her head. I felt the anger level rising. He hadn’t even told her where he was going. Charlie looked at me and then he eyed Bella with doubt in his eyes.

“Carlisle took a job with a big hospital in Los Angeles. I guess they threw a lot of money at him.” He said the last part bitterly.

“Of course they would have,” I commented. So money was the reason, they had wanted to shift to LA, Edward probably had been reluctant and wanting to stay with his girl friend, a huge fight between Edward and Jasper had probably taken place and all of them would have reasoned with Edward saying he would find a better girl in LA and lo! Edward had seen the light! They left looking forward to the happening life of LA. My anger turned into hatred, even though I didn’t know why exactly they left, this felt good enough.

Bella sighed. She looked as if she didn’t believe it.

“I want to know if Edward left you alone out there in the middle of the woods.” Charlie insisted. Both of us stared at her. She flinched at Edward’s name and then stared shaking her head. I went and sat next to her and put an arm around her.

“It was my fault. He left me right here on the trail, in sight of the house…but I tried to follow him.” She said sounding like she was choking.

She suddenly got up.

“I can’t talk about this anymore, Dad. I want to go to my room.” She said and walked away from us.

Both of us we shocked. Neither of us said anything. I looked at the hallway and Charlie looked at his shoes.

Charlie looked at me hopefully and said, “Jake you better talk to her about this, I m no good at this but you understand her very well…”

“I m on it,” I said. I sat there for a while to give Bella some time to pull herself up.

I got up and went upstairs muttering a “good night” to Charlie.

I went over to Bella’s room and knocked, I didn’t get any reply. I wasn’t expecting on.

“Bella may I come in?” I asked my hand on the knob.

Again I didn’t get any reply. I felt worried now, so I opened the door and entered. She was sitting near the shelf on the floor. She had a CD case, player and her scrapbook by her side.

I rushed toward her; she looked pale…all the blood from her had drained.

“Bella?” I called. She sat still looking the things in front of her.

I picked them up. The CD case was empty but something else caught my eye ‘EDWARD’S COMPOSITIONS’ and then I check out the scrap book, a picture was missing, under it was Bella’s writing, she had written ‘Edward Cullen, Charlie’s kitchen, Sept. 13’

Then I understood everything. He had taken everything of his with him. He didn’t want to leave back any memories; he wanted to have a new start.

“He took everything of his, everything he had given” I stated in a low voice.

Bella looked up at me, he face as pale as ever. He eyes were frantic, her lower jaw was trembling. She looked like some one had beaten her badly, broken her into pieces, hurt her every way possible and yet the only thing that had happened to her was, her boy-friend had dumped her. It probably meant nothing to him but to her it was her love, only love, true love. I knew that better than anyone.

Something about her face made me wish she would cry, at least she would feel better, but she had bottled up her feelings and her thoughts. I thought she was going to faint, I bent on my knees ready to help her if she need too but she didn’t instead the pain in her exceeded it limit. She gasped, “It will be as if he’d never existed,” she whispered and fell sideways her face touching the wooden floor. I picked her up and placed her on the bed, I felt very worried. Her skin was cold. I tucked her in her bed wrapping the quilt around her.

“Sleep Bella, forget him.” I said and kissed her cold forehead. That was the best I could do.

She just stared at me and her eyes never closed.
