Summary:

What if Jacob was Bella's brother, her family? She had wanted this. Billy died when Jake was 6 so Charlie adopted him and he became Bella's adopted brother.

NOTE:

All this takes place in New Moon when Edward leaves Bella hurt and broken. Jake lives with them. And Bella and Jake share a brother sister relationship (sorry for emphasizing here but this idea is new to every one so I m being specific as we have always know Bella and Jake love each other in a different way).

For now Jake is human and he stays in Forks. But Jake is friends with the la push gang and he is real close to them.

Charlie's house is of two floors (ground and first floor), the ground floor consists of living room, kitchen cum dining room and the first floor consists of Jacob's, Charlie's and Bella's room. PS: Jacob is a super cool mechanic, he has his own car (Rabbit), and Bella has her truck and Charlie of course the cruiser.

PS: Please do not copy this plot; I have worked real hard on this.

Okay..!! I know few of you have read this, and know the story. I had to delete the original post for some reasons. But here I have posted again, hopefully i will get new readers and the old ones wait. :) I will post sooner and I may bring changes in the story! (I kinda thought the story had taken a boring turn, but I promise I will make it better.)

Chapter 8: Birthday Party

Jacob’s POV:

I reached home and then put Bella’s gifts in my room and then, went over to the bakery and the snack bar and gave them the right directions, it wasn’t very difficult to explain as most of the people knew the Sheriff’s place. Even while doing this I couldn’t get Leah out of my mind. I needed to see her…badly. I had called her many times but she didn’t pick up her cell.

After finishing everything I drove to La Push, and then straight to Leah’s place.

I knocked the door. I didn’t get an answer.

“Leah, it’s me Jacob,” I said in a loud voice.

“Wait a minute,” I heard her say. Her voice wasn’t clear…maybe a little muffled?

“I can wait forever.” I breathed leaning against the wall.

“Did you say anything Jake?” Seth asked rising his eyebrows walking out of his room.

“No.” I lied.

“So?” I asked, I sounded rude.

“Nothing just walking by,” He replied, I picked up the surprise in his voice.

“Oh! Hi.” I smiled.

Just then Leah opened the door.

“Hey.” She sounded low.

“Hello.” I gave her one of my widest smiles.

“K then Jake see ya later man.” Seth waved and went down.

“Sure sure,” I said looking in the direction he went.

“What is it Jacob?” Leah sounded hard. She had her hands on her hips and she gave me a stern look.

“May I come in?” I asked sheepishly.

She sighed and moved aside leaving me place to walk in, I sat on her bed and studied her closely. She looked extremely tired; her eyes were a little puffed as if she had been crying.

“I m waiting for your answer,” she said in the same hard voice.

“Well you had called right?” I reminded her.

“Yeah and you were busy with Jessica.” She made a face and stood far away from me.

“Hey Leah, she was fooling around okay?” I defended myself.

“Yeah Jacob, I got that point alright. You and she were having some fun and I disturbed you. I m sorry!” She said angrily. Oh god! What had I just said? Messing around? Seriously Jacob!

“I was at Jessica’s place to fix her car not to make out with her and she picked up the phone and was playing, and yes she did want to kiss me but I didn’t okay.” I explained pretending to get angry.

She eyed me sternly and then a smile broke across her face.

“So dear Jessica fooled you huh?” she teased.

“Yeah I guess.” I smiled. Seeing Leah happy was a rare thing.

“You are so innocent.” She came over to me and moved her hand through my hair. I loved that feeling.

“Ow.” I cried.

“What?” she asked moving back with a fascinated expression on her face.

“Well I was checking out what was wrong with her car, I felt some one standing really close to me it was Jessica of course, and I jumped up hitting my head.” I explained.

“Hmm…Jessica was about to pounce on you I guess. Poor you!” She continued her teasing.

“Yeah poor me,” I sighed and laid back on her bed, it was soft and very comfy. I was tired but happy to see her smile. She stood against the wall, her smile wearing off her beautiful face.

“Why did you call?” I asked her looking at the ceiling.

“I wanted to tell you a thanks and a sorry,” she said.

“What for?” I asked turning toward her by leaning on the bed by my elbow.

“Thank you because I had a great time and sorry because I slept while we were in the car, it was rude of me to do that.” She gave a small forced smile.

“That’s fine; anyways by the look of you yesterday you really needed some sleep.” I said.

“Yeah I did, I do need some sleep I haven’t been sleeping at nights since a long time.” She whispered turning toward the window.

I got up from her bed; there was a change in her voice. I went over the window. I couldn’t see her face as it was covered with her beautiful long hair but her sobs were enough to tell me that she was crying.

“Leah. What’s wrong?” I asked.

“Lee? Answer me please.” I continued when she didn’t answer.

She finally turned to look at me, her eyes were red and the tears glistened on her cheeks.

“It pains Jacob to see him everyday; it hurts me to see him with my cousin.” She explained crying.

“Everyday?” I asked stupidly.

“Yeah you know I help mom out there at the shop and Emily works there and he comes there to pick her up.” She explained, he voce getting harder with every word.

I felt a sharp pang of jealousy hit me, she was crying over Sam. she couldn’t even take his name, he hurt her yet she thought of him probably loved him still. I wanted to rip his head off, kill him. I couldn’t see Leah like this, it pained me too much. Just then I realized that I loved Leah. But I knew Leah didn’t have the same feelings as I had for her.

“You are a great friend Jake. You help me forget him.” She whispered.

Well at least I could make her forget Sam when I was around, I comforted myself by saying this. She needed a friend right now, and I would be her friend. Maybe she will someday like me too.

“I will always be there for you Leah.” I said out loud and then wiped her tears.

“Thank you Jake,” she said and hugged me. Wow! That was unexpected but I liked it.

“Anytime.” I whispered holding her close to me.

I concentrated on being a friend, she need a friend now, not a lover. Maybe after some time she too will start liking me. Yeah man! keep the hopes alive! A small voice in me said.

“Okay! I gotta leave now. I m damn tired.” I said moving back.

“Yeah I can see that.” She said and smiled.

“Bye Lee.” I said and went out.

“Bye.” She said in her soft voice.

As I drove back I thought of Leah, I had been so stupid, I should have realized it before. Every time I looked at her I would feel happy, every time I looked in her eyes I was lost, her happiness made me happy and her sorrow was my sorrow. Every night I thought of her and yet I failed to realize that I loved her. This kind of pull I have never felt toward any girl. This was something more, something strong and it was magical. It felt we were attached by something yet I couldn’t figure that out. I let myself think it was magic.

I woke up in the morning and I groaned, I looked at the time it was 5:30 am. I hated getting up early but I had to. And then I remembered it was Bella’s birthday today. I went and peeped in to her room to see if she had woken up or not. She lay fast asleep; I closed the door and went to the bathroom. I took a fast shower and wore my best clothes. Bella was still asleep, wow! This was unusual of her.

I quickly grabbed her gifts and headed down to have breakfast.

Charlie was already down here and I saw a camera and a scrapbook on the table.

“Morning Charlie.” I said cheerfully placing the gifts I had got for Bella on the table.

“Hi Jake.” He gave me a smile. He had been my father figure; he had filled my father’s place.

“Bella not up yet?” he asked.

“Na-h,” I said laughing.

I took my bowl and grabbed my cereal box from the cupboard. I started eating. I wanted Bella to come down immediately; Charlie was reading the newspaper so both of us ate in silence.

I finished the breakfast and went over the sink to place my bowl. Just then I heard someone coming down the stairs. By someone I meant Bella obviously.

She was still dressed in her favorite sweatpants and a t-shirt.

“Happy Birthday Bells!” I beamed and gave her a hug.

“Thanks.” she gave a smile and hugged me too.

“Many wishes Bella, you are 18!” Charlie too gave her and a hug and she hugged him back saying a dull “Yeah.”

I motioned her toward the table to discover her gifts.

“I told you-” she started complaining.

“Yeah you did tell us not to get you any gift but Charlie and I didn’t listen to you.” I ended happily.

“Yeah Bells, now be gracious and accept our gifts without any groaning and moaning.” Charlie teased her.

“Fine.” She gave a weak smile.

“Thanks dad.” She said as she picked up the camera.

“Welcome honey.” Charlie replied.

“I need to call mom and Phil and thank both of them for the scrapbook and the CD.” She muttered as she saw the scrapbook given by Renee and a CD given to her by Phil.

“Hmm.” She said looking at my gifts.

She saw through the clothes, accessories and the books. She beamed when she saw the books.

“Thank you Jake.” She cried with the books in her hand.

“Sure sure,” I smiled back.

“K then Bella see ya at school, bye Charlie.” I said grabbing the bag.

“Bye.” Both of them said.

I reached school, I saw Alice and Edward by their car, and I waved and went over to them.

“Hey. Where’s Bella?” Alice asked, she was totally excited and was bouncing. Edward smiled at me, I gave him a small smile, I still wasn’t sure of being friendly with him.

“She’s on her way.” I replied.

“Oh! Great!” Alice said with full enthusiasm in her voice.

“Later.” I said and moved away from there.

School went on usual way, I saw Bella at lunch, she wearing the clothes I had gifted her and she did look beautiful, Edward kinda had a hard time taking his eyes off her. I observed him glaring at Mike. Mike too had his eyes for Bella. I tended to avoid Jessica after what had happened yesterday. Thank god! She wasn’t in any of my classes.

Finally school ended and I went home. I called Embry and Quil to help me with the arrangements, Bella had work at Newton’s. I called Leah and she said she was busy so she would be coming at the exact time. I had checked things up with Charlie, he had some work at the station so he would be back late, and I personally thought that he didn’t want to be around so many kids. Quil and Embry arrived and to my surprise Edward too joined us.

“Hey?” I said without concealing my surprise.

“I thought I will help you out.” he smiled.

“Thanks.” I said and got back to work.

It was almost 5 now and every thing would be ready by six.

I kept the shutter of my garage open, people might want to come in here and our music system would also be here, the lawn had a table so the cake and other snacks could be kept her, Charlie didn’t want any mess inside so we decided to hold the party out side. The street light was switched on and with that I switched on our lawn lights, the cake and the snack bar delivers duly arrived and we kept the food on the table. Bella was back from work and she stood there looking at us helplessly.

“Com-on Bellsie you will enjoy this.” I comforted her.

She gave a small smile.

Soon everything was ready and people started arriving, Alice arrived as gracefully as ever and then hugged Bella. Edward stood by Bella, his arm in hers.

Few people had brought gifts, I saw Mike coming up to Bella, he gave her a small box with a peck on her cheek, and I observed Edward’s expression and burst out laughing. He was glaring at Mike again. Rap music was being played and many people stood in groups talking to each other and enjoying the music.

Angela came up with Jessica too and they too went over to Bella and stood there talking. I saw Jessica give me a sly smile and I turned away. Quil and Embry were with me and Quil was deciding to talk to Katie with Embry jeering at him.

Soon everyone except Leah had arrived. Where was she? I was about to call her when I saw her enter the lawn, she took my breathe away. I couldn’t hear what Embry was talking. I was lost!

She was wearing the shirt I had given to her and she looked amazing, and she was wearing brown jeans which fit her perfectly. She had kept her hair open and she came closer I could smell a different scent. Wow! She was amazing.

Her lips moved. And then after a while I saw her hand moving her hand in a waving manner.

“Hello? I just told you a hi.” She rolled her eyes.

“Hey!” I breathed.

“Woo Leah, you have blown up Jake.” Quil said. I glared at him; I didn’t like this open teasing.

I looked at Leah, she was blushing. She went over to Bella.

“Cant you shut your mouth?” I asked angrily.

“It was too much for me.” he laughed.

“Katie, here I come.” He said and went over to Katie.

I looked at Embry, he was eyeing me carefully.

“What?” I asked annoyed.

“You like her don’t you Jacob.” He stated in a serious tone.

I wanted to deny it but I shut my mouth and didn’t say anything.

“Jacob Black?” he called me.

“She is just a good friend.” I whispered.

“I don’t think you eye your every good friend like how you see Leah.” He said with a smile playing around his lips.

“Fine I like her.” I spat out.

“Oooh Jake has fallen for her at last.” He said loudly.

“Please Embry, she doesn’t know anything, please don’t tell it to any one.” I begged.

“Why?” he asked.

“She wants me just as a friend; she hasn’t gotten over Sam yet.” I explained.

“Okay, I won’t tell it to any one.” He replied. I was quite surprised, I hadn’t expected it to go this way, and I thought it would be difficult.

Soon Bella cut the cake with everyone singing “Happy Birthday to you”, Embry clicked pictures, Bella gave the first piece of cake to me and then to Edward, Alice, Mike, Ben, Angela, Leah and that horrid Jessica.

This party was kinda nice family type, parties never happened in Forks unless it had to be prom kind of thing. It felt good, people grabbed the snacks themselves and the music was being played at a higher tone and people were enjoying in groups.

Leah and few La Push guys stood with us. Soon the party heated up as Austin came in the middle and started dancing to some hip hop music and many guys joined him. It was fun to see then dance and soon all the people were dancing, including Bella though she was just standing opposite to Edward and beating her feet on the music. She was actually smiling and this smile wasn’t a forced one. Leah was also enjoying herself, Embry was joking around with Jennifer and I couldn’t find Quil anywhere. She kept her hand linked with mine and Embry eyed us with glee. I hadn’t been around with many girls and even if I had, I would end it in one date itself so Embry had started thinking I didn’t have a thing for girls. He didn’t want me to go head over heels for him or any other guys. I had smacked him hard when he had told this to me.

Edward and Bella came to stand with us now when Alice came in her super excited form.

“Beeellllaaa.” She screamed.

“What’s it Alice?” Bella asked her face filled with horror. Well according to Bella if Alice was excited it was supposed to be scary.

“Time for you to come to our home.” She said in her high soprano voice.

“What?” she asked surprised.

“Yeah you see, we have a small party for you.” She explained.

“No!” Bella had terror in her eyes.

“Oh yes!” she said beaming at her.

“Jacob I can’t go right, I mean I have to help you with the cleaning.” Bella turned towards me alarmed.

“Jacob knows that you have to come with us alright.” Alice smiled at me, I gave her a forced smile, but with Bella glaring at me it was hard to smile, I heard Leah giggle by my side.

“Sorry Bells.” I apologized.

“I hate you Jacob Black.” Bella said almost in tears.

“She wouldn’t have let me have the party if I hadn’t agreed.” I defended myself.

“Bella look at me.” Edward said in his calm voice, Bella looked up.

“Edward.” She whined.

“Shush, it’s nothing you will enjoy; Carlisle and Esme want to see you.” He said. His voice worked like magic on her, she soon relaxed and turned toward Alice.

“Fine.” She agreed.

“Sure you don’t need any help?” she asked me keeping her face hard.

“Nope.” I smiled. She smiled back; Bella was never the one who held grudges.

“Okay then, see ya.” She said and walked off with Edward and Alice.

By now most of the people had left saying their ‘bye’ and ‘nice party’.

“Do you want me to help?” Jessica came up and asked me.

“Mm…no thanks.” I said uncomfortably, I glanced at Leah, she had stiffened.

“Okay.” She said in a sad voice.

“I need to call my mom, I didn’t bring my cell, can I use you landline?” she asked.

“Yeah sure…it’s in the kitchen.” I said glad that she hadn’t asked my mobile.

At last I could find only Embry, Leah and Seth with me. I wondered where Quil was I hadn’t seen him.

“I think you should go home.” I said to Leah.

“Why?” she asked.

“Well it’s bad of me to ask you to help when you look so beautiful.” I blurted out. Embry choked and Seth purposely seemed to ignore this by walking off.

Leah gave me a smile.

“It doesn’t matter silly.” She said.

“Hmm…okay.” I said.

Soon we got the whole place cleaned up, the music still played as we did our work but at a lower volume, Embry and Seth took the table in, and Leah and I took the leftovers and put them in the fridge and then all of us together cleaned up the waste.

I went over in the garage with Leah, Seth and Embry flanked at my sides. We had to get the music player and put the back in the house. The light was switched off; I didn’t remember doing that, all of us heard a moan. I switched on the light and there stood my best friend Quil smooching Katie. Wow! We all stood frozen.

The couple became aware of the light and stopped kissing, they looked at us. Katie was damn embarrassed and Quil gave us a sheepish smile and rubbed the back of his head.

“Um…sorry.” Leah muttered.

No one said anything.

“I gotta go now. Bye Quil, bye guys.” Katie gave us an embarrassed smile and Quil a peck on cheek and headed out.

“Bye.” All of us said together.

“Whoa what was that man?” Embry punched Quil playfully.

“Nothing,” Quil replied.

“Didn’t seem like nothing.” Leah muttered.

“Yeah it was yuck!” this was if course Seth, he was way young to understand.

“Well I kinda fancy her, I asked her out and she agreed.” Quil blushed.

“Ha gotcha!” exclaimed Embry.

We took the music systems and headed outta garage; we placed them in the living room.

“Guys I m sleepy!” Seth yawned.

“Yeah let’s go.” Quil said.

“Well want to come with us Seth?” Embry asked Seth.

“No. I will leave with Leah you see we live in the same house as we are brother and sister.” Seth said probably thinking Embry had gone mad.

“Yeah I know that dude! But I have the new 3D game so I just thought you might want to talk about it.” Embry amended. He gave me an approved look.

Oh! Now I get it! He was trying to get Seth outta our way so that Leah and I spend some time together. I smiled back. I looked at Leah, she was thoughtful.

“Really?! Come on let’s leave then.” Seth seemed excited. Embry had said the magic words.

Leah and I were left alone. I felt very uncomfortable.

“Want to watch TV?” I asked.

“Sure.” She replied and gave me a smile. I felt happy that she wanted to spend some time alone.

“I will be back you carry on,” I said and headed to my room.

I hurried upstairs and opened the door; I didn’t bother to switch on the light. I was hyperventilating. I didn’t know why, I wanted to calm down, I went to the bathroom, I flashed cold water on my face. Until I felt cool, then I stopped and then closed the bathroom door, I wiped my face. I removed my T-shirt; I wanted to wear something else.

Just then I saw a figure, I first thought it was Leah but Leah wasn’t shaped like this. This figure’s waist was a bit wider and it was short.

“Leah?” I called as only we two were there at home.

“It isn’t Leah Jake,” it was a squeaky voice. And at once I knew it was Jessica!

“What are you doing here?” I whispered angrily, if Leah saw us here in dark she would get the wrong idea.

“What do you think?” she replied.

I was standing near the window, she came toward me. I was frozen. I could see her more clearly as she came in the moonlight.

“Oh Jake! I love you so very much.” She squeaked as she came closer to me, she put her hand on my shoulder and her other hand she moved from my lips to my chest. I didn’t like this feeling at all. This situation probably looked like I was an innocent girl and Jessica the villain trying to force me into doing something I didn’t want to. And she did fit in this role.

“Stop-” I started but then she stopped my talk by crushing her lips against mine. I could have easily pushed her down but I was afraid of hurting her. She continued; no I couldn’t do this; I was Leah’s even though she didn’t know. I couldn’t cheat on Leah; she was waiting down for me.

“Stop it.” I growled and pushed Jessica back.

But unfortunately, I was too late. Leah had seen us kissing, she stood by the door.
