Preface:
Edward has been gone for months. He wasn't coming back. and i wasn't going to sit around and wait, waste away. I had to leave. Everything. everything.

Chapter 1- Goodbyes
Life had become too painful. I had given up hope long ago of Edward coming back for me. 3 months had passed and things weren’t getting any better. Even my best friend Jacob had lost hope in me. Every night I would lie in my bed, clutching my chest so it wouldn’t fall to pieces. I would lie like that all night, protecting my broken heart.

School would pass by in a flurry, a blur but still long torture. I would sit in class spacing off, while the teachers tried to get my attention. But nothing could bring me back to reality, I was far too gone into my love, my life. It felt like life had come to an end.
Despite Charlie’s protesting I had decided to leave for Jacksonville. This may be one way, If I wanted to try to get any better.

“Bella, I know things are hard, now, but I’m sure they’ll get better.” Charlie pleaded.

“Charlie, I know what’s best for me. And staying here in Forks is certainly not going to help.” We had had this conversation many times before, but now was the time I planned on leaving, driving all the way to Jacksonville.

We were by the front door, my suitcases in my hand. Charlie gripped the end of one, an attempt to pull me back. “Please Bells.” He pleaded again with sorrow filled eyes. “Don’t leave me again.”

As he said that it only made me want to run into his arms and comfort him. But this was my life at stake and I needed to do what was best for me.

“No Charlie, I’m not leaving you, just doing what’s best for me.” And with tear filled eyes I ran to my car. God….. All I ever did was cry these days.
I pulled open the car door with such force I was afraid it would come off its hinges. I hopped into the truck and slammed the rusty door shut.

As the car rumbled to life I chanced a glance back to the house. I saw Charlie Peering out the window with tears rolling down his face. I shook my head trying to remember this is what is best, this is what is best. With that I threw my suitcases into the backseat and backed out of the driveway.

Chapter 23: Headache
Bella's POV

I slowly started to resurface from my pit of blackness. I shifted around a little bit, letting out a small groan. My head was pounding. I lifted a hand to my forehead and found there was already something there. I placed my hand against it, An ice pack. I opened my eyes and tried to sit myself up, my head started spinning.

"Gah." I breathed in quickly. I curled my knees to my chest and placed my hands on either side of my face.

"Love. . ." Adam said quietly, placing a cool hand on my knee. I looked up and smiled. I attempted to scramble off the couch, and suddenly the world tilted. Quickly Adam had his arms around my waist steadying me, slowly allowing the earth to return to normal.

I sighed and tilted my head back to rest it between his head and shoulder, smiling contently. Adam rubbed his hands up and down my arms, giving me a sense of comfort.

"Mm so where is everyone? What happened?" I asked curiously, taking his hand and turning to face him. I could tell he was reluctant to answer. There was a rumble from behind the door before suddenly is burst open. A big burly man taking the place of the door, a goofy grin plastered on his face.

"Bellsie!" He curled up his hands to his chest and wiggled them quickly, like a little kid does when he gets excited. Then he ran to me, picking me up and twirling me around, squeezing me bone crushingly hard. It all happened so fast I hardly had time to think. I didn't think but said the first thing that came to mind.

"Um Bella?" As the words flew out of my mouth I felt my mind space out, uncontrolled thoughts taking over. Everything went black for a moment. When eyes snapped open and I remembered.

"Emmett!" I squealed. He set me down before pulling me into another hug. I coughed, trying to get my breath. "Emmett! Human! Air please!" His booming laugh bounced off the walls as he pulled away, holding me at arms length to look me up and down.

"Still the same as I remember." I felt a blush start to creep into my cheeks and he grinned the goofiest grin I had seen since waking up at the hospital. "And there's the blush!"

"Shut up Emmett. . ." I said and looked down, feeling my cheeks getting hotter. He laughed again.

"I'm going to go get everyone else." He set my feet gently on the floor, and let go. "Don't do anything funny while I'm gone." He winked at me as he left the room, what was that supposed to mean? I tried to smile back.

Adam took me by surprise by grabbing my hand and turning me to face him. "How do you know him?" He asked, hissing slightly. My eyebrows drew together as I thought, I didn't remember how I remembered him, only that I did.

Without my noticing my mind caused my vision to go black for a second, more of my lost memory accompanied my sight when it came back.

"He's Edward's brother." I said simply, Not remembering who Edward even was, just knowing the name. My mind flashed the bronze haired god in my dreams. But I shook my head, shaking off the image with my head.

"And who's Bella?" He asked, trying to calm himself but no completely making it. It was ridiculous for him to be this rallied up about what happened. Shouldn't he be happy?

"I- I don't know. I-I think it's me." I said shakily. Only meeting his eyes for a brief second before studying the floor. I looked up again to see him looking away, out the window. I took a step towards him, wrapping my arms securely around his neck. He turned his head to look at me, his eyes told a different story than his face as he tried to smile. Smiling softly I stretched up on my toes, placing my lips softly to his.

He wrapped his arms around my waist and I ran a hand through his hair. I pulled back, keeping a hand in his hair and the other around his neck.

"Hey. . " I said, messing with his hair. "I still love you, and always will." He smiled weakly, not fully believing my words. I smiled and hugged him tightly, resting my head on his chest. Adam hugged me back, one hand smoothing down my hair. I nestled my head in his chest, smiling contently to myself when I heard Emmetts booming voice echo down the hall. I rolled my eyes and let go of Adam, he keeping one arm around me. His arm was tense around me, I didn't dare look up. I knew he was itching for them to leave, but I wasn't. I had unanswered questions that I needed answers to.

Suddenly, instead of the huge, muscular Emmett that I was expecting stood a tiny vampire. She had black spiked hair and golden, anxious eyes. She paused in the doorway, Her body was mimicking her eyes, tense. I cracked a smile, though at the moment I had no idea what person stood in the doorway of Adam's house. But I knew I would soon know.

Her face broke into a wide smile, but her eyes were suddenly full or sorrow. Her tiny figure shook as she fought back tearless sobs. I took a comforting step forward, Adams hand tightening around mine. That's all she needed to fling herself towards me, sobbing. I hugged her back, waiting for the memory to come. She buried her face into my shoulder, in between sobs managing to get out a; "Bella. . ."

That's all it took. My eyes rolled back, as everything went black. It took longer than it did with Emmett to come back to reality, my mind more flooded with memory this time than last. As soon as the vampire hugging me squeezed me a little harder than normal, I snapped back.

"Oh Alice!" I felt my eyes prickle with fresh tears, Hugging her as tight as I could, never intending to let her go. She pulled back, though never breaking contact with me. There was a smile spread across her face as she wiped away the tears that were streaming down my face profounsly.

"Hey" I said, Trying to smile through the tears of joy. "You, are never leaving me again!" She sniffed a small laugh.

She hugged me as tight as she could, without hurting me, leaning from side to side, laughing small laughs. They were shaky, though we were overjoyed.

"I missed you Bells." She said, squeezing me tightly.

"We have so much-" My mouth clamped shut when I looked up. There was another vampire, leaning slighly against the doorframe. He smiled softly when he caught my gaze. He reminded me of Adam, looking about the same age as him. His hair was blonde, and more slicked back than Adam. making him seem older than Alice or Emmett. His eyes were kind, but there was some kind of hollow depth to them. I couldn't put my finger on it. But I felt his name on the tip of my tongue.

"Cur, Cer, Car, Ci. . ." I muttered as softly as possible under my breath. Then Alices mouth was at my ear.

"Carlisle" She whispered. I smiled and very softly mouthed;

'Thank you'

'You're welcome' She mouthed back. I looked back to Carlisle, He was staring past us, to Adam. His muscles were ridged, shifting his feet. He nodded lightly and looked back to me. I smiled brightly.

"Bella." he said, and stepped forward. I walked towards him, as he gave me a loose hug. He sqeezed me gently. I was expecting it this time, my Mind and eyes going black, then flooding with remembrence.

"How are you?" He asked, pulling back to look at me.

"Great!" I practically sang. He smiled, sorrow cracking through it. I didn't know whyt it was, but this whole conversation was awkard. Adam stepped forward, wrapping his arm around me, pulling me to him. Clearing his throat, Carlisle looked up. I wasn't sure what Adam said or did, but I knew I would have to ask him about it later. Because then, Carlisle decided to wrap up the conversation.

"I'm going to go get everyone else, But I have some questions. Would you mind answering them later?" He started to walk slowly to the front door, only pausing briefly for my answer.

"S- sure." I stuttered, completely taken by suprise.

"Ok I'll see you later Bells." He smiled, then looked towards Alice. "Come' on Alice." He said, gesturing for Alice to follow. She stiffened slightly next to me.

"But, Carlisle. ." She said, obviously reluctant to leave. Just like I remembered, her eyes glazed over as she sunk into a vision. She snapped back to reality with a beaten expression on her face. "Fine." She said, and hugged me once more. "I'll be back later Bella." She trilled, and danced out of the room.

Then Adam wrapped both arms around me, pulling me once again back to him.

"How many vampires do you know?" He said, while chuckling lightly. I rested the back of my head against his chest. I shrugged lightly.

"How many more they tell me." I said, and he laughed.

"I guess I shouldn't be suprised. You are very different from most girls I know." He said, as I turned slightly and kissed the base of his neck.

"That's a good thing right?" He laughed again and kissed my forehead.

"Of course." I smiled to myself and turned around. There were three vampires standing there. I took Adams hand and stepped to the side of him, heat flooding to my cheeks.

I looked back to them. There was one who looked vvery motherly like who was close to tears. She had brown hair and very gentle features. There was one, who was breath takingly beautiful. She was the type of person who's self confidence just made you want to stick your head in a hole. And thats exaclty what I felt like. Her eyes were icy daggers. She obviously would rather be anywhere than here. With her arms crossed and eyes narrowed, It wasn't that difficult to tell. The last one standing there had an expression on his face that I couldn't quite read. He was smiling, but you could tell he was in pain. He was lean and stiff, with golden colored hair.

My sight blackened and I leaned against Adam for suppost. Esme, Rosalie, Jasper. Their names ran through my head. I came back to reality and smiled, wondering why this time they didn't need to touch me for my memory to return. I walked towards them, releasing Adams hand. For some reason I felt some pang in my gut. I had to concentrate hard to keep my expression happy, and not double over. It was a combination of fear and guilt.

'Run, run and hide' A small voice said in my head. Fogging up all other thoughts. I just smiled.

"Hey Esme." I said shyly. She stepped forward and gave me a hug. She pat my back in a motherly way.

"Hey Bella." She pulled back. "How are you sweetheart?" She asked, her golden eyes twinkling.

"I'm great." I said smiling. Then I looked past her.

"Hey Rosalie, Jasper." I said smiling.

Rosalie gave me a stiff nod. Jasper on the other hand gave me a small smile. They didn't seem as if they were going to do more so I turned back to Esme, who was overjoyed beyond belief.

"How have things been?" She asked as everyone else walked in. Alice gave me a quick hug before she turned to Jasper. Giving him a peck on the lips before he wrapped his arms around her. Carlisle walked up to Esme and took her hand, Emmett pulled Rosalie to his side and gave me a goofy grin..

"So Bella, mind showing us around?" Emmett asked, his goofy smile kept on his face as he talked. I smiled and looked back to Adam.

"Alice?" Jasper's worried voice came from behind me. I looked over to Alice, her eyes glazed over. Everyone was gathered around her, I pulled Adam with me over to her. She blinked a few times and looked me in the eyes. Her face was confused, mixed with fear.

"Alice, What did you see?" Carlisle asked, placing a hand her arm. She looked at him for a quick second before looking back to me.

"It's- it's Edward." She said, her voice shaking slightly. "He's coming back."

"Well thats a good thing, right?" Esme asked. Alice shook her head.

"He needs to tell us something, important. All I saw was him running back, and he was scared or mad." She took a breath. "I couldn't tell."

Just as she finished the front door was slammed shut.
