Edward has been gone for months. He wasn't coming back. and i wasn't going to sit around and wait, waste away. I had to leave. Everything. everything.

Chapter 1- Goodbyes
Life had become too painful. I had given up hope long ago of Edward coming back for me. 3 months had passed and things weren’t getting any better. Even my best friend Jacob had lost hope in me. Every night I would lie in my bed, clutching my chest so it wouldn’t fall to pieces. I would lie like that all night, protecting my broken heart.

School would pass by in a flurry, a blur but still long torture. I would sit in class spacing off, while the teachers tried to get my attention. But nothing could bring me back to reality, I was far too gone into my love, my life. It felt like life had come to an end.
Despite Charlie’s protesting I had decided to leave for Jacksonville. This may be one way, If I wanted to try to get any better.

“Bella, I know things are hard, now, but I’m sure they’ll get better.” Charlie pleaded.

“Charlie, I know what’s best for me. And staying here in Forks is certainly not going to help.” We had had this conversation many times before, but now was the time I planned on leaving, driving all the way to Jacksonville.

We were by the front door, my suitcases in my hand. Charlie gripped the end of one, an attempt to pull me back. “Please Bells.” He pleaded again with sorrow filled eyes. “Don’t leave me again.”

As he said that it only made me want to run into his arms and comfort him. But this was my life at stake and I needed to do what was best for me.

“No Charlie, I’m not leaving you, just doing what’s best for me.” And with tear filled eyes I ran to my car. God….. All I ever did was cry these days.
I pulled open the car door with such force I was afraid it would come off its hinges. I hopped into the truck and slammed the rusty door shut.

As the car rumbled to life I chanced a glance back to the house. I saw Charlie Peering out the window with tears rolling down his face. I shook my head trying to remember this is what is best, this is what is best. With that I threw my suitcases into the backseat and backed out of the driveway.

Chapter 19: Aftershock
Edward POV

"Alice?" I called out again as I stepped in. I tried to listen if she replied, but everything was silent. So silent you would be able to hear a pin drop. I crept through the house, half expecting someone to pop out at me. It had felt like that the whole time I was running home. I had repetitively glanced over my shoulder, always trying to shake off that feeling. But it was back again.

"Alice?" I called again, A little more stressed. I heard a small sniffle come from upstairs. I sprinted upstairs without a second thought. I ran into Alice's room. She was in a small ball, hugging he knees to her small frame. Watching the rain slither down the window. She sniffed again at the tears that would never come.

Without turning around she spoke. "The others are out hunting, I wanted to stay behind, I saw you coming." She choked back more tears. "So it's true then? She's- she's- Bella's" She couldn't force anymore out. She broke down into tearless sobs. I sat down beside next to her and we both sat in silent remorse. We rocked back and forth, both staring out the window. Neither saying anything, and there was no awkwardness. Her mind was blank, either that or she was trying to shut me out.

There was nothing to say. I looked down, Alice had her eyes shut. She drew in a deep shaky breath, trying to gather herself together. I returned my gaze back out the window just as something orange streaked across the field, disappearing into the trees. I was startled for a moment but thought better or it.

I thought to myself it was only my imagination. Suddenly the phone rang, bouncing off all of the walls. Alice had even shot up, she had not seen it coming either. I jumped off the bed and grabbed a phone.

"Hello?" I said, my voice crackling.

"Is this the Cullen residence?" A similar like voice asked.

"It is. Who is calling?" I asked with some annoyance. There was a chuckle from the other end of the line. I knew that was something I wouldn't be doing for some time.

"A good old friend." The caller replied. "A friend of Carlisle's, we used to work together." Suddenly Carlisle was beside me. I jumped a little in surprise, I had been feeling lately. I hadn't heard him or the others return home. He looked at me with sympathetic eyes.

'I'll take it.' He thought to me. I nodded quickly, trying my best keep my face with no emotion. He took the phone and walked out, talking quickly with and occasional laugh.

"I'm so happy for you!" Carlisle exclaimed followed by several 'mhm's and 'Uh huh's. Meanwhile Jasper had walked in and took Alice in his arms. I tried to keep the pain flooding though me to a minimum. It hadn't worked, I winced and clutched my chest. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Jasper wince as well, for my pain was his. He tried to relieve the pain, but it had little effect on me. Alice had curled herself into a ball in Jaspers lap.

I sighed and slowly lifted myself off Alice's bed and dragged myself downstairs. I heard Jasper starting to talk.

"Are you ok Alice?" He asked. When Alice didn't reply he tried to reword it. "Do you want to tell me what happened?" I heard Alice take another sake breath. I hurried out of the room, not wanting to relive my pain. I involuntarily heard Carlisle once again as I walked downstairs.

He laughed at something his friend had said. "Sounds like a deal. See you soon." The phone clicked as he set it down. I kept walking towards the door, I didn't care about this. Heck, I didn't care about most things anymore. I was back out the door in the pouring down rain. One of the only places where I had no worries.

Chapter 20: Pain
Bella's POV

The morning I woke up was no different than any other morning. Besides the fact I now had a fiancée, the most wonderful, glorious fiancée in the world. I sat up a little straighter in the bed and tried to flatten down my hair. Suddenly an arm snaked around my waist.

"Good morning. Did you sleep well?" Adam kissed my head. I sighed and curled up next to him, putting my head under his chin.

"Wonderful." I replied. He chuckled and placed his lips in my hair. I nestled closer to him. We chatted aimlessly, about nothing in particular for a while when suddenly I noticed a slow growing pain coming from my heart. Without trying to make notice to what I was doing I moved my hand over my heart and grabbed at it. It grew until it came to the point where I could hardly keep myself sounding normal.

Without meaning to I let out a small gasp in pain. "Rebecca?" Adam asked, his voice filled with worry. His grip tightened a little bit as I tried to get a hold of myself. I stifled small scream escaped my lips, the pain becoming greater and greater. Then suddenly everything turned black and I laid still.

There were once a again small clips of the story running through my mind, coming back, but this time I had a feeling they weren't part of the story, and they weren't memories, it was as if it was something happening now. I mostly saw passing green, trees and moss flying by at impossible speeds. Then there were occasional flashes of fire orange hair, running right along with him. I felt hated toward the orange flashes, I knew I must hate her for something.

Rain was pounding down as someone entered a house and ran up to a room. A small pixie like girl sat in a ball, rocking back and forth staring out a window. An impossible pang of guilt raced through me. A boy with bronze hair started to walk towards here as I was pulled out of my vision.

I snapped open my eyes, breathing heavily. Adam was staring down on me.

"Honey, are you ok?" He placed a chilly hand to my forehead. I touched my hand to it, and pulled it gently away.

"I'm - fine." I panted and cleared my throat. "Honestly, happens all the time." I tried to make it sound like no big deal.

"All the time?" He was bewildered. I shrugged.

"It wasn't that big of a deal." I looked at Adam, and worry was plasted on every part of his face. I put my hands on both sides of his face, pulling him closer to me. "Really." I said, and gently kissed his lips.

He sighed in defeat, and let it drop. "If you don't mind, I'm going to make a call." Then he winked at me. "Its a surprise." Kissing me forehead he grabbed a phone and left the room. I hopped out of bed and grabbed a robe, throwing it on I opened and shut the door as quietly as possible. I heard Adam talking into the phone. I took a step every time I heard him talking.

"How about you guys come down tomorrow? Bring your family, I'd love for you to meet Rebecca." He said with pride into the phone. I tried hard to keep myself from giggling, cupping a hand over my mouth. I could hear a voice from out of the other end.

"Sounds like a deal. See you then." Adam clicked the phone off and set it down.
