Do you think that Harry Potter is better than Twilight?
All my friends think that Harry Potter is better, but i think otherwise!

I enjoy both T. & HP for diffrent reasons. Then again, I also like baseball and some grand opera. Both are public performances by highly skilled professionals in specialized costumes with music involved in the event. Seriously, art is always subjective. Calling one better really depends on a lot of things.

Permalink Reply by Tiffany Dawson on January 20, 2013 at 3:56am As you can probably tell by my grammar and spelling, I prefer HP over T. Most of that is because I've been reading HP since I was four years old and grew up with it, but it has so many plots and genres - fantasy, romance, the classic good vs. evil, etc.
It's also more realistic in that you don't marry your first love - Harry didn't marry Cho Chang, Hermione didn't marry Viktor Krum and Ron didn't marry Lavender Brown. Ron and Hermione's relationship grew from bickering acquaintances, to bickering best friends with chemistry, to lovers (at a completely inappropriate time of course).
There are no gay characters in Twilight, which a lot of people near where I live find offensive, whereas Dumbledore was gay in Harry Potter, and Remus Lupin's lycanthropy was a symbol of AIDs and the worldwide shunning people with AIDs generally put up with. Vampires show the forbidden love between a man and woman, and Renesmee shows forbidden knowledge, but that's about as deep as Twilight goes.
If I would like a shallow romance novel about a selfish spoilt brat and her abusive boyfriend, I would read Twilight.
If would like an in-depth, ask-deep-potentially-informative-questions, adventure series, I would read Harry Potter.
Harry Potter is my life, whereas Twilight is an okay read when I feel like a shallow teenage girl.
PS No offence is meant by this, just my observation and what I feel when I read these books.

I agree. Harry Potter is a deep story of love, coming of age, good and evil, human condition, finding yourself, strength in humans, weakness in humans, fear, strength, et cetera. Twilight is a sappy romance with a bunch of fluff attached.
The characters of Harry Potter are developed, heart-aching, interesting and mostly very deep. Even some of their 'bad' characters have virtues (The Malfoy family adore each other) and their good characters have vices (Harry is not always right, and sometimes rude to people).
There's one dimmension to Twilight characters. Bella loves Edward, Edward is angsty, Esme is nice, Alice sees the future. That's it.
There's nothing for the mind and soul in Twilight. Harry Potter was much of my life too.

I also like Twilight to some extent. Just none of the main characters, or the writing style.

If you don't like Twilight that much then why did you join the site?
Permalink Reply by Tiffany Dawson on January 22, 2013 at 7:30pm I like Twilight to an extent. But I'm not a diehard fan like I am for Harry Potter.
Permalink Reply by Jacen Caedus on April 23, 2013 at 12:20am I had nothing better to do at the time. I'm a proud anti-fan. I stayed due to awesome friendships made here.
To be fair, I only hate: Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, the poor editing, imprinting, and Stephanie Meyer's lack of authoring skill.
I do, however, very much like: Jacob Black, nearly every supporting character, and Meyer's storytelling talent.
I LOOVE TWILIGHT BECAUSE OF THE BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN EPIC ROMANCE!!!! BUuuuuuuut Harry potter was written with awesoem creativity!! J.K Rowling made upmost of the things in the story and it took amazing creativity to make those spells and the school!!!
