I feel she would have survived but would have been even more disliked by rosalie

I thought that Edward wanted Renesmee to be aborted.  So I'm not sure why he would be angry.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very very glad that the story did not go that direction.

However, my understanding was the Rose was protecting Bella from Edward because he wanted to force an abortion on her to get "that thing" out of her.

Breaking Dawn pg 178

Jacob speaking "Just back up a second. She won't let you." The sarcasm was acid on my tongue. "Did you ever notice that she's exactly as strong as a normal hundred-and-ten-pound human girl? How stupid are you vamps? Hold her down and knock her out with drugs."

Edward speaking "I wanted to, he whispered. "Carlisle would have..."

What, too noble were they?

"No. Not noble. Her bodyguard complicated things."

"So take the blonde out first. Your kind can be put back together, right? Turn her into a jigsaw and take care of Bella."
"Emmett and Esme are backing her up. Emmett would never let us... and Carlisle won't help me with Esme against it..." He trailed off his voice disappearing.

Yes, I agree with you in your assessment of Rose.  I also agree that Edward had pretty much lost his mind during this moment and was beyond desperate.

We only disagree on Edward's reaction if Bella had decided to terminate her pregnancy, I think Edward would have supported that decision.

True :)

Edward speaking "I wanted to, he whispered. "Carlisle would have..."

JJ, I get your point there. I actually felt somewhat the same while reading that passage in the book.

Bella almost died while she was giving birth and she had to be changed into a Vampire-to save her life and ultimately get her long wanted wish. Whose' to say that wouldn't have happened if Renesmee was to be Aborted?

If Renesmee was so hard to deliver on human standards and they could barely control her before the birth...I don't see abortion would have done the trick either-she wasn't a normal human fetus. The abortion could have just as easily killed Bella as the birth almost did

I feel like I need to add, I completely understand why Edward wanted "it" taken out of Bella and destroyed.  I feel like the worst decision of ANY man is to have to choose between his wife and his child.  My heart goes out to any man in that situation.

As for the actual process of the abortion, I think Bella would have required changing in order to "survive" the process.  I don't think Bella's body would have handled it, but I also don't think that was really a concern of Edward.  I think that he had come to terms that Bella would become a vampire, his worry was that she wouldn't survive the pregnancy and she almost didn't.

As for Renesmee's destruction, I don't think it would have been easy because she isn't normal, but we are dealing with vampires and I'm sure they are strong enough to destroy her if they wanted to.

(This is rather depressing...)

Yip. Not the best thing in the world choosing between saving your wife or child :( So yes, totally understand WHY he wanted to abort.

What JJ said. I think Bella mentions her stomach was hard? still would've required em tearing her open. And yip, still would've required em to burn Renesmee. Ooh, wonder how  far along is to far along. As in; if they had aborted IMMEDIATELY would Renesmee survive OUTSIDE the womb. Like a preterm baby.

I didn't have the impression that the Volturi crossed the Cullen's mind until Alice's vision.  There was no mention of them.  Aro's wedding present to them didn't seem to make them fearful, but was simply a reminder that they had unfinished business with them.  The pregnancy also seemed to take the Cullens by surprise that they didn't know it was possible.  They had to do significant research in order to find other half-breeds.

The way that I read Edward, he didn't have any parental connection to his child until he was able to hear her thoughts in Bella's stomach.  There appeared to be a dramatic change in Edward's attitude in that moment.  Edward loved the baby because the baby loved Bella.

I don't feel like we have enough information from the book to know how long Renesmee would have to be inside Bella in order to survive outside of the womb.  However, I would assume that the moment that Edward could hear her thoughts that she was very well developed (Renesmee was born the next day anyways).  Her whole pregnancy is only about one month long, so trying to find how developed the baby is would have been very difficult.

As for Renesmee's destruction, I don't think it would have been easy because she isn't normal,

I agree. If Edward had to bite through Bella's stomach in order to get our out...then sticking a needle into her stomach or aborting Renesmee would have not happened, because Bella's skin was hard and nothing would penetrate it since Nessie is Half Human/Half Vampire.

It would make the Abortion almost impossible.

(Yeah it is rather depressing :()

If her pregnancy was about a month long, then Renesmee would have been developing fast by hours/days at most.At least I think that's what the initial timing would be.Even though it's very hard to sass out the exact time

I'm sorry I made such a depressing discussion.
