What character do you think is the most honorable? Why?

Permalink Reply by Jacen Caedus on April 23, 2013 at 12:39am I second this, for all the same reasons stated by Cupcake. Like an adopting parent, he chose, of his own free will, to become a better "person" fangless sparklepire. Why? For love. Hard to compete with that, IMHO.
Permalink Reply by The future Mrs R Patz on February 24, 2013 at 5:51am Carlisle because although he is a vampire, he sort of started the thing where they don't hunt humans and he is also a doctor - therefore he looks after people at his own will. Also, he only changes people if necessary e.g if they are about to die; and he is a good person!
He is also kind and caring which is a honorable persons personality as well as other things of course!
Permalink Reply by JJ on February 25, 2013 at 9:24am I think Carlisle is a great answer, he certainly has many noble characteristics. Thank you for commenting.
Permalink Reply by Toni Ann Whitmore on February 28, 2013 at 8:28pm Carlisle. I do believe all the men in Cullens are honorable, but I believe Carlisle has more than any others. He had years and years of experience than other Cullen men. He also never touched a human blood, and chose to help humans instead. Like becoming a doctor.
Carlisle also helped Edward deal with emotions he never experience before with Bella, helped Jasper deal with his thirst in blood, helped Rosalie deal in changes of her being vampire, just gave whole love and understanding to his family. He also welcomed Bella into a family as a human being because of Edward. He also welcomed the werewolves because he knew they would protect Bella when he should have considered them enemies. He truly has remarkable qualities in a man. He never liked fighting against anyone even if they were enemies (like James) but he knew he had to protect Bella and Edward.
My opinion anyways. :)

Permalink Reply by Smitha on May 9, 2013 at 1:31am IMO,the whole series is filled with good people with good hearts. Everyone commits mistakes of their own but everyone is noble in their own way. Lets start with Carlisle. He went against his judgement and created three vampires. He thought it was a mistake but it turned out that was the best thing he did which saved their lives; literally not to mention. Esme; Good person, perfect mother for a clan of vampires. Rosalie ; She may not be deep, but all she wants is a normal human life. That's not a bad thing at all. She even comes to good terms with the person she resented most. Alice; She can be annoying, but hey, someone needs to be fun and jolly in the serious plot! Emmett ; Same goes for him. Jasper; Coming from such a cruel background,I'd say its an accomplishment to have adjusted quite well to the Cullen life style. He did a great job at leaving his past behind and moved on with Alice. Edward; Well,he may have been someone who killed people, but as we know it,he killed the bad ones. As a boyfriend, husband, brother, son, father, friend he is probably the most unselfish character I have ever come across. He left Bella but for her own good. He learns his lessons the hard way. Bella ; She may have hurt people, but none of that is intentional. All she wanted is to protect and love the people she cared for. Jake ; Its an interesting transformation we see in Jacob from a kid to a young strong chap. He was noble enough to accept to help Edward while Bella was dying...Who would do that! The others,Sam,Billy,Charlie,Renée...we never see any of them doing anything wrong or bad. So IMHO,I see all the characters as noble ones. :)

hey,
Where have you been?
I have missed your indepth/thoughtful commentary...in which I always find myself in congruence with your thoughts.
I agree with your assessment of the characters.....I think Meyer did a fantastic job about defining the human Condition....hence the symbolic "APPLE" or Genesis 2:17....personifying eating from the tree of good and evil.
All these characters...represent characteristics/elements of Humanity. No one is untouchable or absolved of "sin" or some unfavorable "flaw"....
However....it's how they CHOSE to learn from those inherent "flaws" or deficits....and not allow it to define who they ARE. ULTIMATELY...humanity has choices....in which what ever genetics, conditions or obstacles we are dealt with....we have the "CHOICE'' to do the "right" or "noble" thing in life.
Twilight...and it's Characters is all about REDEMPTION.....and about the true discovery of Unconditional love for others and the love/acceptance of "oneself".....is the key to happiness and fulfillment/purpose.
Power...greed....money..... gorging upon endless blood/victims....can never fulfill that void that humanity("the allegoric vampire") is always seeking....ACCEPTANCE and LOVE from others...for who and what we are.
Carlisle's father's cross...is a symbolic reminder....it's never too late to change...the human condition is flawed...and essentially we are all "vampires" feeding off one another. HOWEVER....we all have the CHOICE to not allow our past sins/mistakes/flaws dictate our actions.
Love....
Danette
