Who is the most noble character?
What character do you think is the most honorable? Why?

Charlie. I just think he's truly TRYING to be a good Friend. Father. Husband. Like all things, it just doesn't always look, nor, turn out that way. He has forsaken his marriage to be there for his parents who were going through a rough time. And I believe Mrs Swan. They were to young, and SHE wasn't ready. He has forsaken his daughter to do that as well, yet still tried to hold onto that relationship despite the distance. I know he an Billy were fighting over Mrs Clearwater, but I reckon he and Billy are big babies any way :) besides? you can't help who you fall for.

Good answer. I didn't initially think of Charlie, but I can certainly see how he would be worthy of being considered a noble and honorable character. I love Charlie. :)

Carlisle. He didn't let his being a vampire control him completely. He found a way to exist without killing people. He stepped away from the Volturi and chose a different way of existence. He molded a family from those that were already going to die. He tried to co-exist with the native people by drawing up a pack with them. His role was to help humans by being a doctor. When challenged by the Volturi, he called upon his fellow Vampires to join together to support his family cause and keep peace among their race rather than fight against each other. He fell into the role as father to his family and provided good judgment yet let each Vampire make their own decisions and tried to support those.

Carlisle was the first person who came to mind for me. I agree with many of the character qualities that you found in Carlisle and think he is quite noble and I admire what he has chosen to do with the "live" that was given to him.

I think Edward is the most honorable character in the series. His gentlemen qualities and his passion for doing the right thing make me believe this. Keeping his virtue intact and wanting to be more than just a killer by rising above his wants and instincts. Truly an honorable character in my opinion.

Jasper.
Jasper has no obligations to any of the Cullens--no sire/fledgling bonds, no coaching. He doesn't even have them to Alice, who he adores above everything, who he seems to respect and become truly happy around. Jasper came from a traumitizing, mindaltering world, one of cruelty and no kindness, and yet he is more caring to his lover than most other canon pairings. He also has much more strength to make his own decisions than most. His defiantly joining the army at a young age to defend his people, his painful choice to leave all he'd known in this new life, his choice to entirely turn the way he feeds around.
Yes, Jasper slips up and doesn't always get along with everyone, but the strangth and caring for Alice he shows is admirable.

What a neat choice to choose Jasper. I admit that he is not a character who comes to mind initially but you presented a very nice argument for him and I can easily see his nobility.
Question: Do you believe that Alice and Jasper are a vampire "mated" couple? There seems to be an bond between vampire couples or an attachment that some compare to imprinting, in that the vampire will never emotionally recover from the loss of their mate. I ask because you say he has no obligation to the Cullens.

I was thinking more on the matter of that they all share a blood-link and he does not. And when they leave it is together, not with any other confidant or aid whatsoever. Alice could have taken any other, Jasper could have stayed even. But they always travel together. They're still loyal, but it's not like he actually has osmeone he's blood-bound to.
I think that the reason I like Jasper so much is because that's NOT the case. They came to vampirism on their own different paths, found one another and fell in love that way, without any odd interference. Their love is just as potent but without any odd mating issues.
I don't like 'mated' pairs or imprinting very much really.

" blood-bound" -- Meaning, that neither of them created the other. (Jasper did not change Alice and Alice did not change Jasper) And neither of them were created by Carlisle. Is that the correct meaning that you meant?
