after alll bella is just a human, but she is who edward love.
i think is because bella is interesting, and when edward start investigate of she, he fall in love whith her, he knew her personality and he love she.

If you have read midnight sun, he couldnt stay away from her because of her scent (mainly) and he loved her personality. As he got closer, he started to worry about her OTT and then he knew he loved her.
