Cold Gray Light is Bella's own account of what happened after Breaking Dawn, her growing understanding of her powers, her battle to remain with the man she loves, finding her place in her new family, and the ever-present threat of the Volturi.

A completed full length novel written from Bella's point of view, keeping in character the characters from the original stories.
There are no new characters but some who played more minor roles in the other stories are brought to the fore in this story.

I ran my fingers tiredly through my hair. All this was going to be easy, right? We had done it several times before and now that I was a vampire, it would make our forces even stronger. And hopefully Caius woudn't get the whole Volturi coven and guard to go along. How could someone be that persuasive? Come on- I even saw this coming, and we probably have a lot of time to prepare. Suddenly the realization dawned on me. This was not going to work. Even with all of the other covens and the wolves. We were going to die. A most horrible death.

After all this time wanting badly, horribly to know what was simply going on in Bella's head, I really didn't, now. I could tell from her expression that something was wrong. Very wrong.
"Alice," I sighed, knowing she probably saw something and told Bella. Bella nodded, looking on the verge of sickness, her pale, snowy face turning a subtle green. She nodded and cringed, as if what she was thinking of hurt her brain.
So I delved into Alice's mind. And suddenly wanted out. "Renesmee," I managed to choke out.

I knew he was coming for me. I knew I was going to die. This time, Momma and Daddy and Jacob wouldn't be endangered. I would give myself up for them. I would let Caius destroy me; that's what he wanted, wasn't it? Well, I didn't care. At least Momma would be safe and happy with her family... Except for me. This wasn't the time to be having regrets.
But would they let me sacrifice myself? Would they stop me? I would have to do it secretly; tell Caius I would let him destroy me in private. But hopefully, I wouldn't have to do that. Hopefully... We would live. Was that even possible?
