Chapter 1- Bella’s POV
Mr. Banner was walking around the room, passing back the tests we took awhile ago. When he placed the perfect paper on the table next to me, it was a reminder to who was absent today. You would never imagine me to say this, but here it is: I’m starting to really hate these few, rare, sunny days that Forks presents me every now and then. Even though I know the Cullens, or at least two of them, were probably waiting for me outside, I still can’t stand not having Edward sitting next to me. That empty seat just kept reminding me…

I looked down at my paper as Mr. Banner placed my test in front of me without a word. Well, I got a B, which isn’t too bad, considering that the time I was supposed to be studying this was used in a much different way… Edward would probably be upset, though. He seemed to have taken it into his hands to prepare me fully for all the finals before graduation, and this was our last chapter test before the biology one. I sighed. Thinking about Edward just made his absence stronger.

I glanced down at my schedule that was taped on the front cover of my notebook. I had long since memorized it, but I still had this habit of peeking at it. Oh great, this’ll be fun. I had totally forgotten that I had p.e. next period. Maybe I’ll pull an Edward and ditch. I don’t see how missing one gym class would affect me, and there was only one period, English, after that.

As soon as the bell rang, I jumped out of my seat and nearly ran out of the classroom. I hoped that Alice had told Edward of my plan. On the sidewalk, I took the path that led to the gym, but as soon as no one was looking, I took the path along the edge of the building- toward the parking lot. Alice had gotten my idea and I saw that my truck was replaced with Edward’s Volvo. I smiled, and I’m certain Edward could hear my heart beat faster.

His beauty stopped me in my tracks, again. My own personal Greek god just standing, leaning against his Volvo. You would think I would get used to it eventually, but I highly doubt that I ever would. He was just astounding. No, he was DAZZLING.

“I see you’ve decided that my theory that ditching classes once in a while is healthy is alright to do now and again.” Edward chuckled.

“Well, I had gym next- and you know how I love that.” He just grinned, and I’m just gonna guess it’s because he knows that he’s way better than I am with that. “And also because I didn’t want to waste this sun.” I added, and that was the truth. Just because I hate the sun while I’m sitting alone in class doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy it with him.

“I agree, this sun is too good to be wasted sitting in a classroom. Did you have something in mind? Or should I pick?” At least he understood.

“Um, well, I hadn’t actually thought that far yet… I kinda just wanted to get out of school.” I blushed- leave it to me to escape and then not even have a plan on what to do afterward.

Edward grinned. “I do think I’m gonna ask Alice to keep blush on you. That’s one thing I’m going to miss.” I stuck my tongue out at him.

“Alice had better not come near me with make-up. You’re forgetting I’ll be as fast as you AND stronger.” The look on his face reminded me he was the fastest, so I corrected myself. “Well, almost as fast as you. So what was the plan again?”

“Hop on. I was thinking we could go to our meadow. Does that sound good?” Wow. I probably could have guessed we’d be going there- since we go there almost every sunny day that I don’t have to spend in school.

“That sounds amazing, but am I riding the Volvo or you?” I mean, he can’t just leave his Volvo here, and I’m certain he meant for me to ride his back again.

“I’ll have Alice or Rose get the Volvo. So, are you ready?” He had looked confused at my question, I guess he figured I should know the methods of riding to our meadow.

“Yes, I’m ready. Let’s go before the whole concept of ditching is finished because school’s over.” I slung myself over his back, hitting my leg against the side of the Volvo. Ouch. I bit my tongue to stop from saying anything. It’s not like Edward needs another reason to worry, or Emmett another reason to laugh at my expense.

Edward took off at the usual vampire speed, slowing only as we came up to the meadow. Then he halfway dropped me off the back of him, catching me in a swing and kissing me lightly. I pulled myself closer to him, raking my fingers through his hair. He kissed back, and it seemed nothing could tear us apart.

Then he stiffened, and I froze, too. I wondered what I had done wrong, normally he pulled away when he thought it had gone too far. He only froze when he was controlling himself. His jaw wasn’t clenched, though, so I decided to risk it.

“What did I do? I’ll try not to do it next time, I’m sorry.”

“It wasn’t you. It’s just- Well I-“ He was stumbling on words. I sighed, I mean REALLY. I could take it. How long was it going to take him to realize that?

“I thought we were past all this evasiveness now.” I quoted myself jokingly. “Just tell me. I would’ve thought you’re over expecting me to run away screaming.”

“It’s just that I caught someone’s scent. It’s nothing really.” Nothing? Yeah right. This was our meadow- no one ever came here. It was kind of a secret place.

“Who’s scent? Some hikers?” Hikers would make sense, but I highly doubted anyone hiked around here.

“No. It was-“ The look on his face was… strangled, that’s a good word to describe it.

“Just tell me, Edward.”

“Bella, it was Angela’s.”

Chapter 2- Bella’s POV
I gasped. There’s no possible way Angela’s scent could have been in our meadow, I mean, come on, it’s our meadow.

“Are you sure? How would she know about here?” I asked hesitantly. Edward was not exactly the happiest man on earth when he was confused. And he was definitely confused, but then, so was I.

“Trust me, it was hers. And… I think… she was with someone else. I don’t know who though, and the scent… is fairly new. I’d say it’s from last night or this morning.” Edward looked like his brain was working in a whole different galaxy than mine, probably trying different possibilities out that I wouldn’t even think of for a week.

“How would she know about here?” I asked again. “She didn’t follow us, did she? Ever?” I highly doubted that was possible, we always flew (almost literally) to this spot. I mean, she would have to have supernatural speed to follow us.

“Bella, I don’t know! I don’t get how this is possible. All I know is that it is definitely her scent, and it’s pretty knew.” An almost inaudible growl escaped from his throat. “ Let’s say she went last night. How was she at school?” A simple question, except… I’d forgotten one tiny detail.

“Edward, I just remembered. She wasn’t at school today. Ben told Jess that she had been feeling sick and decided to stay home. But if she was sick, why would she be out exploring nearly unreachable places?” Well this just got even more confusing. And Angela… she isn’t exactly one to follow people. Lauren’s more the stalker type- at least to me. Angela could just ask where I go with Edward in my free time, I would’ve told her. (Well, made up a good enough lie that had a lot of truth in it.) She was my best (human) friend, I don’t know why she’d be keeping secrets.

“She wasn’t at school today? So that opens up the possibility that she could’ve come this morning. Although, if she was feigning sick, I think Mrs. Weber would keep her inside.” Edward looked distressed.

“Yeah, she would’ve, except that she’s not home in the day. Mrs. Weber has a job. And I don’t think she could’ve made it here and back before she got home. I mean, when you made me walk it took like five hours.” Although, I’m not exactly the best example for hiking times. An experienced hiker probably would only have taken an hour, maybe two. But, somehow, I didn’t think Angela was an experienced hiker.

“Some humans can actually walk without tripping every two seconds, Bella. I just don’t understand. No one besides us has been to this meadow since Laurent was chased off by the wolves….” His voice trailed off as he thought of more possibilities.

“Jake wouldn’t’ve said anything. Neither would’ve Seth. Paul doesn’t care, Leah stays out of our business as much as possible, and anyways, Sam wouldn’t let anyone say anything. And no one can escape the alpha’s will.” The werewolves wouldn’t’ve said anything. I trusted them. Although, I trusted Angela too…

“Bella, I don’t know what’s going on here, but I’m definitely going to be keeping a very close watch on you.” I sighed. Leave it to Edward to turn this into some sort of danger for me. Oh well. It meant more time than I already had with him. “Now come on. I’m going to go tell Alice, and Carlisle, about this.”

“Oh! I actually have an idea! That you should’ve already thought of!” I was exuberant. For once, I actually thought of something before he did! And it was the most obvious thing. His expression was enough to spill my idea without the building of suspense I’d wanted to do. “What if you read her mind tomorrow?”

“Bella, do you really think I hadn’t thought of that already? I’ve been using my gift for a century, I think I know when to use it.” Oh. Go ahead, Edward. Ruin my fun! I was happy. Oh well… whatever, I’ll think of something before him one day. I could make that a goal.

“Charlie’s going to be getting worried, Bella. I’m going to take you home, go tell Carlisle and Alice, and still be back before you have time to miss me.” Ha. I doubted that last part was possible.

“Alright.” I agreed. “But you better go fast, because I will miss you.” A lot.

Edward swung me onto his back again. I didn’t think it was possible, but I have the faintest idea he ran faster than he did before, when we were going to our meadow. You know, I bet he would be awesome at ding-dong-ditch. Maybe I would tell Emmett about it later. It might get him off me for a little bit.

We arrived at my –Charlie’s- house in record time. He took me off his back, letting me go except for my left hand. He trailed me into the house, shutting the door with much more strength than necessary. I didn’t want it to break.

Charlie wasn’t back yet, so I started to make dinner for the both of us. Edward was standing there, watching.

“You know, you could help.” I said, although I doubted he would.

“Nah. It’s ok, this is your hunting ground, not mine.” Haha, very funny. The lazy vampire. I didn’t complain, though. He would be with me all of tonight, trying to figure this out. “And Charlie’s going to be here in three, two, one…”

I heard the door open. Edward couldn’t’ve given me anymore warning? I could hear Charlie hanging his coat up. He made almost as much noise as an elephant in a library. Wow, I’m going crazy. But comparing it to my afternoon with Edward, it was a lot of noise.

“Well, that’s my cue to leave. I’ll be back really, really fast.” He walked me into where Charlie was just turning on the sports channel, and kissed me on the forehead. Charlie coughed, and turned to glare at Edward. I stepped in between them, carefully, not to make it obvious. Edward still figured it out. He held back a chuckle, and said “ Well, I’ll see you tomorrow Bells. Miss you.” He winked at me, then turned and left.

“Hey kiddo. How’s dinner coming along?” Charlie and food.

“It’s cooking.” I murmured absentmindedly. I was trying to figure out more possibilities of the scent. I was probably going to be eating dinner fast, to have more time with Edward. We definitely had a mystery on our hands.
more!!! why'd you stop there? more more more more more!!!!!
Brilliant! MORE!! You need to write MORE!!
