The Twilight Saga

Jacob's Pov

You could run, or fight someone you hated. But how could when the one you wanted to fight, was the one you loved most in the world? I loved Chelsey unconditionally, but I also hated her for what she did to me and my family. She had put their lives in grave danger, and hurt me more than Bella ever did. But she also stiched me back so carefully it was like I had never been torn

Now, in the Dark Twilight we would all fight for love and forgiveness against our greatest enemies, and ourselves.

Chapter 1- Coming Back to Life

“Jake…JACOB EMPHRIAM BLACK!!!!” I recognized the familiar voice of my dad from the doorway. I turned around on my too small bed, and sat up slowly.

“What do you want?” I growled. It was unusual that my dad bothered me while I was sleeping--or in this case trying to not think.

“Jacob, you’ve been laying here for days! You haven’t left for anything. You just lay in here and mope about something you have no control over!” He yelled. His old, wrinkled face looked worried and tired, which was becoming more common.

“I’m not moping!” I argued. He had no idea about what was going on. My entire life no longer had meaning, and he expected me to do something?

“Moping is exactly what you are doing. It’s her choice to become one of them Jake, and if you truly care for her, you will let her do what she wants.”

“Don’t ever say that! Becoming one of them is what’s going to kill her!” I roared.

“Think whatever you want Jake, but I know one thing for sure; sitting in here isn’t doing anyone any good. You need to get out and do something.” He said calmly.

“Fine, I’ll go outside.” I grumbled as I rolled out of bed.

“Thanks.” He said as he left the room. I grabbed a t-shirt and threw it over my jeans. I purposely avoided the mirror because I knew how I would look; I would have dark bags under my eyes from the lack of sleep, my short hair would be grimy, and my eyes would look empty.

I stomped through the house, slamming the door as I left. I walked around our small cottage, into the forest. I was sick of everyone feeling sorry for me, and telling me it would be okay. It was not going to be okay.

The girl I loved was going to be turned into a vampire in a few weeks, and would become my enemy. I would be forced to track her and the rest of the Cullen clan down for breaking the treaty. I would have to kill her. The thought sent shudders down my spine. I kept walking, and I didn’t really notice where I was going until I looked up and saw Seth Clearwater. I was on the edge of the reservation.

“Hey Jake!” Seth called as he got out of his truck and sprinted over. “What’s up?” He asked cheerfully.

            “The sky.” I remarked sarcastically.

“How are you feeling?” He asked. What, did he think I was sick or something?

“Oh, I’m just dandy Seth.” I replied bitterly.

“Are you okay Jacob?” He asked solemnly as he put his hand on my shoulder. I shook it off quickly.

“Do I look okay Seth?!? Do you think I’ll ever be okay again? If you do, then you’re wrong.”

            “Jake, I-“

“Just leave me along Seth.” Before he could stop me, I took off into the forest and phased smoothly.

Damn, I just couldn’t do anything right anymore. I screwed up with Bella, and now with Seth. I just couldn’t stop hurting people, could I? I kept running, trying to not think, make my mind go blind, and ended up outside Forks Diner.

Through the small amount of trees I could see a few vehicles parked outside. Only one person stood outside though, a teenage girl. I focused on her, trying to take my mind off my life, and suddenly it felt like the world stopped. Heat washed over every part of my body, different from when I was running.

She was around my age, with a milky white complexion, honey-blonde hair, a slender face, full lips and big, baby blue eyes. Every part of me came undone as I looked at her. All that things that made me who I was- my love for Bella, for my father, the loyalty to my pack, my hatred for my enemies and myself-all came undone. Everything I thought seemed unimportant at this point. I could see now that my entire universe would revolve around this one thing. This girl.

It felt like my heart was stabbed as she climbed into a white mercer and pulled out of the parking lot. Reality snapped around me like elastic as I remembered where I was. Without another moment of hesitation, I ran around the edge of the forest towards the highway.

I finally caught up to her, and without much difficulty, kept up. I glanced at her more than most would say was appropriate. She looked distressed, and by the way that she was gripping the steering wheel, I assumed that she was worried about something. I knew that I was worried to, because I didn’t know what to do. How would I tell her? How was I going to meet her even?

That worry went away as she slowed down, but came right back as she pulled into Bella’s driveway. She climbed out of the car and flew up the steps in very gracefully movements. When Bella opened the door, they hugged each other happily. I was stunned at how I felt. Normally I would have pain at the sight of Bella, but I felt nothing. Weird.

Her and Bella entered the house and then I knew what I had to do. I phased and pulled on my clothes. I took a deep breath of the familiar musky, forest air and then slowly walked towards Bella house. Just as I started to climb the stairs, cold drops fell down my face. There was no way to escape the rain in Forks.

I rang the doorbell and within seconds Bella opened the door. Her expression was a complete mask shock. Her big chocolate brown eyes filled with happiness, something like nervousness through my stomach. The last time I had seen her was after her and Edward came back from Italy. Right after she told me that she didn’t love me and that she loved Edward.

            “Jacob?” She whispered.

"Hey Bells.” I replied casually. She stepped forward and threw her slightly cold arms around me. I usually would have gripped my arms around her at the chance to be close to her, but now the hug felt…awkward. She pulled me into the house, and into the small living room.

The girl sat on the couch, and she was even more beautiful up close. Her eyes were so bright and mysterious, it was intriguing.

“Chelsey, this is Jacob. Jacob, this is Chelsey.” Bella introduced us eagerly. Chelsey stood and reached her small hand out. As our skin contacted, there was a strange feeling. A shock ran through my body. It was like every vein was filled with fire.

“It’s…nice to meet you.” Chelsey stuttered in a gentle, melodically voice. I unwillingly drew my hand back. I wanted to hold on to her forever.

Chapter 3- Maturity

I laid restlessly in my bed, unable to sleep. I just couldn’t get the image of her out of my mind. Chesley. It hurt me to be so far away from her, physically and mentally. She was the only thing that kept me from falling apart now, the only thing that would keep me going each day.

The hardest part was that I didn’t know how to tell her anything. How could I convince her to stay here with me, when my life was danger? There was no safe time for me, no safe place for her. Why would she want to stay with me?

I tossed and turned gnawing over my thoughts until it was unbearable. I climbed out of my bed and through the window into the cold night. I ran forward soundlessly, and easily phased into the real me. The beast.

It felt easy and natural as I let my instincts take over. My body moved with the wind through the deep forest. Once I came to Bella’s house, I slowed down. I walked slowly across the road, listening for any out of place sound. I walked around the house until I came to Bella’s window. I smelt something terrible behind me, and I growled quietly.

“Jacob, what are you doing here?” The leech whispered from behind me. I whirled around and growled at him.

I could ask you the same thing bloodsucker.

“I am here to make sure that Bella isn’t to upset over your imprinting.” He said. He slowly began to walk towards me and I backed up.

Why would she be upset? Now she won’t have to come and see me all the time because she thinks I’m depressed.
“It’s complicated Jacob, and I think you should talk to her about it.” He suggested.

I would go up there right now, but I have a guest to protect from a vampire.

“Jacob, you know I would never hurt her anymore than I would hurt Bella.” He said harshly.

Really? Because I recall that you may be turning Bella soon. So, I really don’t want you doing the same to Chelsey. I sneered as I circled him.

“You’re acting like a child Jacob. I will never hurt Chelsey. I promise you.” He said, a flicker of anger in his eyes.

I am more of a man than you will ever be. And your promises mean nothing to me.

“Whatever Jacob. I am done talking to you.” He said. Then he jumped and landed in Bella’s room. I shook my head and continued around the house. I found the guest room window and to my luck Charlie’s tool shed was right beside it.

I wasn’t as graceful as the leech, but I was pretty good for an oversized wolf. My paws made a faint thud on the metal, but it wasn’t loud enough for a human to hear. As I looked in the window I felt pain ripple in my chest.

Chelsey sat on the large bed, her face in her hands. Her body shook as she cried. I wanted to know why she was crying. What could have possible happened since I left? I wished I could go inside in comfort her, but that was quickly washed away with reality. I sank to my stomach and watched her.

Eventually she fell asleep, her face red from the tears. I was fascinated by the way she rolled around in her sleep, like she was in her dreams. Even so, she looked peaceful and beautiful.

Suddenly I looked around and realized it was morning. The neighbors would notice if there was a wolf on top of a tool shed. I jumped off the roof and ran back towards my house. When I got home Billy was still sleeping and it seemed as if no one knew I was even gone. I knew I wouldn’t go back to sleep, so I made myself a giant bowl of cereal and turned on some cartoons. I never said I was mature.

Just as the cartoons were getting good, Seth walked in. “Hey Jake!”

“Hey Seth.” I said as Fruit Loops dripped down my chin. He sat down beside me and flipped through the channels.

“So, you went to go see your girlfriend last night?” He mocked.

It caught me off guard. I was sure no one was in wolf form when I went over there. “How did you know?” I asked a tinge of anger in my voice.

“I was patrolling, and I heard you over there, talking to Edward and stuff.” He replied casually. I should have been used to my thoughts being heard by now, but sometimes it still made me angry.

“You didn’t think of telling me you were there?” I struggled to keep my voice calm.

“Sorry, I didn’t want to disturb you.” He said sincerely.

“It’s okay, I’m just touché lately.” I grumbled. He had heard every thought I had about Chelsey, and every word I had said to Edward. Sometimes being a werewolf sucked.

“So are you going to tell her?” Seth asked cautiously.

I sighed. “I’m not sure what to do yet.” I confessed.

“You should talk to Sam about it, maybe he could help you.” He suggested.

“Yah, I will later, but right now I need to make a phone call.” I got up and grabbed the cordless phone from the table. I dialed Bella’s number and waited. On the third ring she answered.

“Hey Jake!” Her familiar voice filled the line.

“Hey Bells.”

“What’s up?” She asked excitedly.

“I was just wondering what you and Chelsey were up to today.” I said casually. It almost pained me to say her name when I knew that she wasn’t mine yet.

“Um...we were going to go over to Edward’s house.” She said shakily. Just great. The one place I couldn’t go was where she was taking Chelsey.

“Oh.” I said disappointed.

“Did you want to come with us?” She asked unexpectedly.

“Me? Go to the Bloodsucker farm?” I said in a small voice.

“I’m sure Edward wouldn’t mind. And I think Chelsey wants to see you.” The first part made no difference, but the Chelsey part was irresistible.

“Well…” I thought it over. If I went I could protect Chelsey from the leeches. “I’ll meet you in ten minutes.” I sighed.

“Yah! This will be fun, as long as you behave yourself.” Bella stated.

“Whatever. I’m a good dog.”

“See you soon.”

“Bye.”

As I hung up the phone I realized how stupid I was. I was going to the freaking parasite farm! I took deep breaths, and told myself this was all for Chelsey’s protection. It was my job to protect her, at whatever price.

I walked to Bella’s house in human form, no trying to draw attention to myself. They were both waiting outside the house, wrapped up in raincoats. Bella looked excited, ready to show off her rich boyfriend’s house. Chelsey looked a little distressed, and I was sure it had something to do with last night. Even so, she looked beautiful. Her light hair covered most of her face, but her bright eyes glinted in the small amount of sunlight.

“Hi!” Bella waved. Chelsey smiled at me, and nodded once. I guessed she was one of those girls who tried to be mysterious to get guys hooked. It was working.

“Morning girls.” I said. “Hope you haven’t been waiting for me.”

“Nope.” Bella said popping on the ‘p’. “Edward is picking us up in a few minutes.”

My stomach churned at the thought of riding in his car. This really was going to be an experience. “Cool.” I said unenthusiastically.

“I heard he’s quite the driver.” Chelsey added, her sweet voice causing a wave of nervousness to flow over me. I would never get used to the sound.

“He sure is. He drives like crazy fast, but he is an amazing driver.” Bella replied, rolling her eyes. I would never hear the end of all the amazing stuff Edward could do. From playing baseball to driving perfectly. On cue, he pulled up in his shiny Volvo. He honked the horn once, and Bella and Chelsey walked towards the car. With a sigh I followed.
