Friendly Desires: A Different Imprint Story

A beautiful and rich girl moves to La Push, but what happens when Seth Clearwater imprints on her? Love right away? Or not?

Preface

A huge wolf stood in front of me, his fur was sandy colored. I felt a sudden pull towards it.

I wanted to reach out and touch it.

I went closer, close enough that we stood at normal human distance, adrenaline pulsed through me.

I moved my hand through the soft fur and stared into the light brown eyes, suddenly too intelligent for a beast.

I was lost, I felt elated.

Chapter 1: Talk time.

Nicole’s POV:

I sat staring out of the window from my room of our New York apartment, the view was simply beautiful, though it was busy and happening I found some peace looking down on the moving city. The apartment where I stayed was huge, dad was an advertising executive, he had his own company which took up products and advertise them in various ways. This was a rich business and dad of course made millions of money in this way, most of the time they hired actors to do a particular add, I had their autographs. It was a traveling job; dad had to travel all around the world, and it was kinda good for both of us. For him because it was his business and he loved doing it and for me because I got to meet actors and also travel around the world with him during vacation. Speaking of vacation, wonder where we will be going this time, my exams were almost over, I had one more left, tomorrow it will all be over and I will turn into a sophomore from a freshman. I sighed; we also had to stay in school after the exams, as my school was taking up an environment program so the principal wanted to enlighten us on saving our environment. I was very much enthusiastic about it; I badly wanted to save our environment. And later our group would be going to party, the same usual stuff. I sighed again.

“There’s lots of sighing going on huh?” I heard a voice, it was Antony of course.

Antony, well he is my care-taker, actually more than that and almost everything, he has been with me and dad since I was 5. We used to stay in Italy when he joined us. Dad had been to Italy to do a particular project, there he met mom, yeah my mom’s an Italian, and they immediately fell in love and got married. They decided to stay in Italy for a while, and then I was born. Everything had been going well till I was 3 or 4 and then the usual bickering turned into huge fights, they didn’t want me to be subjected to their fights so they hired a ‘nanny’ for me. Not just a usual nanny, dad wanted some one really capable who could take care of me in every way, so he contacted an American agency and they sent Antony to us. I m glad dad didn’t want a usual nannies, Antony is the best! Then things became worse and they, that is my mom and dad had to separate, it was harsh for me, I loved my mom and wanted her to be with me, but no she left us, she didn’t even care for my feelings. Since then Antony is with us. He is always with me; dad usually has to go away for business trips but Antony never. He is my best friend, cook, body guard, and my family. I love him.

“Yeah, it’s the last day of school.” I said looking at him.

“You didn’t study for the exam right?” he teased me.

“Antony, its Art tomorrow, and you know I m pro at that,” I laughed.

“Ah! Be modest!” he teased again.

“By the way, don’t you know you should knock before entering someone’s room?” I teased him back.

“I keep forgetting ma’am,” he said with a sarcastic smile.

“Manner’s are very important mister!” I pretended to scold him.

“Yeah sure, dinner’s ready come-on.” He laughed and went out.

“Okay,” I said and went over to my washroom and washed my face with cold water. I changed into sweatpants and a tank top and went over to the dining table.

I went over and sat on my chair, and Antony joined me.

“Where’s dad?” I asked while serving myself dinner.

“It seems he will be late tonight, Miss Wills left a message.” He replied.

“Oh, okay.” I said. Miss Wills was dad’s secretary. She had been with dad for ten years.

“Yummy noodles,” I commented.

“Thanks, I m good at everything you see.” He said.

“Now look who is not being modest!” I raised my eye brows.

“Okay, okay.” He said and then we continued to have dinner in silence.

After finishing the dinner, I put my plate in the sink.

“Good night Tony,” I said and yawned.

“Yeah night’,” he replied with a smile.

I went over to my room and cuddled up in my bed, I checked my cell. I hadn’t got any messages or calls so I set an alarm and closed my eyes thinking about next day. Soon, I fell asleep.

Seth’s POV:

My shift had just ended.

‘Night guys,’ I thought and phased back to human form. I wore my clothes in swift moment and headed to my house, I was damn tired. Nothing was going on in La Push or the Cullens’ territory; it had been a year since the fight against the Volturi had taken place for Nessie. To keep the college charade the Cullens had left for New Hampshire after one month, and Jacob had left with them. Though he joined us in wolf form it was never the same, he had made Leah his beta. And now they were returning at last! Their college year had ended, to meet Charlie and us.

I entered my house, it was dark. Probably mom and Leah were already in bed. I grabbed my self a snack and headed to my room. I went and lay on my bed. I didn’t feel sleepy any more! Come-on, I should! I m damn tired, I need to sleep. I just kept tossing and turning, I got irritated and got of the bed, climbed through the window and sat on the roof staring at the moon. I felt very lonely, everyone had an imprint and they were damn happy, everyone but Leah and I. A year had passed and I had seen many new girls in school but I never imprinted on them, Leah had gotten past her self, being a beta and away from Sam and his mind had made her better. Better not back to her old self. I had started to question myself, were Leah and I genetic end? Was that the reason we hadn’t imprinted? Ugh! The guys had also asked me to start dating some one and there were many girls who wanted me, being a wolf had made me handsome and wanted. But I didn’t want anyone except ‘her’. Then I sat staring at the moon blankly, not wanting to allow negative thought rule over me. Minutes passed…

I yawned once and then twice and then thrice.

“Time to go to bed Seth,” I said to myself and headed back inside.

As soon my head hit the bed, my eyes closed and I was drawn into deep sleep. That night, I dreamed of ‘her’. I had never seen her before. She was more than beautiful, her eyes were dark brown, her brown hair was long and shiny and her lips were shaped into a smile. She came over to me and moved her hand across my face, my breathing increased. Her soft lips touched my cheek, I moved my hand to hold her, but suddenly I was all alone. She had vanished my sight, reach and touch. Everything went blank and the dream changed into nothingness.

Well, here it is.

Chapter 34: Out of control

Nicole’s POV:

“Antony! It will be fine!” I said for the thousandth time.

“Of course not! It is a college party, and you aren’t even eighteen!” he frowned.

“Chill! I can handle it,” I rolled my eyes. All this overreaction was totally uncalled for.

“I don’t know Nicole,” he finally shrugged.

“What?” I asked.

“I m just not comfortable,” he said reluctantly.

“Look, I m telling you where m going instead of just sneaking off, right?” I tried to explain.

“Yeah,” he agreed still frowning.

“So, you don’t have to be worried, nothing’s going to happen!”

“You don’t know about these college parties Nicole,” he argued.

“God! Antony! I m not a kid! I know, please,” I was starting to get angry.

“Maybe I should tell Daniel to take you somewhere else, not there,” he said thoughtfully.

“No! don’t do that!” I was horrified. God, it would be so awkward! And so embarrassing!

“Please please please Ant! Please let me go!” I begged.

He started at me for a long moment, “fine!” he conceded.

“Thank you! Thank you!” I hugged him.

“But that doesn’t mean I want you staying out late, okay?” he asked.

“Sure,” I grinned.

“And no drinking, or accepting drinks from strangers and-”

“Antony! I m going there with me boyfriend aren’t I?” I laughed. Like Daniel was going to let me be alone.

“Yeah, I know,” a strange look flashed in his eyes.

“What is it?” I asked in a resigned manner.

“Look, I know you like him and he likes you but you two are staying apart, but he is still a guy and he might try to pressurize you or something like that making you feel guilty about not being here all the time but that doesn’t mean you should give in! okay?”

I had started laughing, “I m serious Nicole!” he exclaimed but there was a twinkle in his eye.

“Yeah sure,” I laughed harder. He just stared at me expecting me to promise.

“Okay my dear sweet Tony! I won’t give in,” I winked.

“That’s my girl,” he grinned. As I smiled I couldn’t help but think about what had happened the first time Daniel and I had been alone, we had almost ended up doing something that we might have regretted later.

“Okay, so how do I look?” I asked.

“Gorgeous, always,” he complimented.

I took a deep breath and looked into the mirror, I was wear a skirt quite a little above my knees and a sleeveless red top. My hair was curled in the end and ankle boots went pretty well with it.

“Don’t tell dad okay? About it being a college party,” I whispered.

“You’ll owe something huge,” he played.

“Sure thing,” I hugged him again.

“You look so hot,” Daniel whispered in my ear. For some reason it bothered me; I just smiled. We were in the lift heading up to the top most floor-Aiden’s penthouse; well that was what Daniel had told me.

“I want you to meet someone here, a very good friend of mine,” he said.

“Okay,” I nodded feeling a little nervous. I didn’t know a single person here.

As the lift opened, booming music greeted us, and we walked through the open doors. The party seemed a success already, it was so crowed. Many people were dancing in the open space; there were drinks place on one corner. “Whoa!” I breathed.

“Never been to a party like this have you?” Daniel chuckled.

“Definitely not,” I agreed.

“Hey Daniel! You came!” “Hey man,” Daniel replied and they did the guy hug.

“And who is this beautiful?” he smiled widely.

“This is my girlfriend Nicole,” Daniel said wrapping his arm around me. “And this is Aiden.”

“Hi,” I shook his hand. “Nice to meet you…finally!” he shouted over the music.

“Nice meeting you too,” I smiled feeling slightly flattered.

“You guys have fun then,” he grinned and left us.

Okay, that was abrupt. But sort of nice, I guess. Then Daniel took me to the rest of his friends, did the introductions and we hung out with them for a while. A little later we found ourselves and couch and sat down; Daniel kept searching the crowd looking for someone.

“Who are you looking for?” I asked.

“That person I want you to meet,” he told me.

“Okay,” I sat. Though every looked like they were having fun and enjoying I was starting to feel bored. I liked the parties that I had been to; I had my friends there but here…

Minutes passed and I wanted to go home. I was starting to feel irritated. Today had been so much fun with Daniel when we had been alone but here I was feeling so suffocated. I needed some air.

Daniel stood up abruptly. “Are we leaving?” I asked eagerly.

“No!” he gave me a look and turned away.

“Hey Danny!” I looked up to a bright voice. A girl seemed to be hugging Daniel. After they broke apart Daniel and she sat down.

She was looking at me, “So this is Nicole?” she turned towards him. A tall beautiful blonde. Okay.

“Yep, this is Nicole and Nicole, this is Amy,” he said brightly.

“Hey Amy,” I smiled a little.

“Hi,” she said shyly. There was a little bit of awkwardness around her but when she spoke to Daniel everything …vanished? As the talked…and continued talking I was starting to feel restless and even more irritated.

“I will get us some drinks,” Daniel kissed me on the cheek and got up.

“You know you are really lucky to have him as your boyfriend,” she smiled at me.

“Thanks,” I forced a smile.

“He is such a sweet and a nice guy…there’s so much more to him than just the jock tag,” she sighed. Okay, she is in love with him.

“Yeah I know,” I said abruptly.

“Okay,” she smiled awkwardly and played with her cell. Did Daniel like her too? He obviously did, the way he spoke to her, I had never seen him speak to anyone that way before, and even with me he was different. But did he love her? No, I don’t think so. But since she had come here he had not paid any attention to me, they kept talking…and talking…and talking…and I politely sat and listened.

“Hey! What’s wrong?” I realised Daniel was back.

“Nothing,” I told him. “I got you a coke,” he smiled.

“Thanks,” I took a sip. Next Daniel told me about how he had met her and how she thought he was a total jerk…why was he even telling me this? I was starting to feel angry now. I didn’t want to hear about him and her. I just wanted to have a good time with Daniel. I thought this party would be fun, I would meet his friends and then maybe we would head out after a while but he seemed to have different plans.

I felt my cell vibrate. Sighing I looked at it. Seth calling. Smiling widely I excused myself and headed to the balcony in open air.

“Hiiiiiii!” I almost screamed. A huge smile brightening my whole face.

Hey. He sounded…relieved?

“How are you?!” I asked.

Um…I m a little not okay, yeah…he was sounding a little down.

“What happened Seth?” I asked concerned.

Nothing much…don’t worry,

“Sure?” I asked. I still didn’t feel like agreeing with him. I don’t but this was weird.

Don’t worry, tell me about yourself, how are you?

“I m okay,” I dragged the sentence.

Doesn’t sound like you are he chuckled.

“I don’t know,” I muttered.

Really? He asked.

“Chuck it! I m just not in mood,” I frowned.

Yeah, neither m I, he said. Good thing I called?

“Yep! I was dying of boredom…hey Seth guess what?” I added brightly.

What?

“I m missing you a lot!” I told him. I hadn’t thought much about La Push since I came here, but now hearing Seth’s voice I wanted to be back there, I wanted to be with him. hang out with him, Quil, Embry, Clair at the beach, and with Leah and the Cullens. I wanted the steady rain…and I wanted to get out of this party now!

I miss you too…every sec-um day. He sounded so intense.

“And can you believe it? I haven’t even been away for more than a couple of days?”

I know…but doesn’t feel like that. He was barely audible.

“Aw…!” I wanted to hug him. Oh my god! I wanted to see him now…! I knew something was wrong with him, and I wanted to set it right.

Where are you? I can hear music.

“Um…I m at a party…” I said reluctantly.

Shouldn’t you be enjoying then?

“Well, yeah, but I know just Daniel here, and he is also busy with someone.” I tried to hide the bitterness in my voice.

Oh.

“Never mind, I m just so frikking bored! I thought it would be fun,” I groaned.

Hey, relax…we can have some fun later. He tried to soothe me.

“Yeah we will, for sure!” I agreed.

I don’t know how long I stood there but I talked and talked and he listened, and I was starting to loose the irritation and feeling cheerful again.

Suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned. Daniel stood there with a grim expression. “Hey, aren’t you gonna join us?” he asked.

For what? To be ignored? I wanted to ask him.

“I’ll be there in a moment,” I told him.

“Whom are you speaking with?” he asked raising his eye brows.

“Umm…Seth, I will join you, okay?” I said…he just shrugged and went off.

Phew! I shouldn’t have agreed to come to this party! The day had as well been a lot better without that. And this time was just ruining such a wonderful day.

“I m so very sorry Seth, but I have to go now,” I pouted.

Its, okay. But he sounded disappointed.

“Thanks a lot for calling Seth; I would have died of boredom if you hadn’t! I owe you my life,” I said dramatically trying to cheer him up.

Hahaha, well…I will always be your saviour. He chuckled.

“Lucky me!” I giggled.

You better go now; I will talk to you soon.

“Yeah, byeee…! Good night Seth!” I smiled.

Sweet dreams…and then I hung up.

Sighing I went back looking for Daniel and Amy. They were seated where I had left them. “Hey,’ I said and sat next to Daniel.

“We were going to leave now,” he said. I didn’t miss the ‘we’, as in he and Amy?

“Okay,” I nodded. He wasn’t going to leave me here right? I was his girl friend.

“Come-on,” all the three of us got up, and left.

During the car ride, I didn’t speak much. Nothing surprising there, Amy spoke to Daniel about some assignment. Nothing surprising there either. He seemed very vague but answered her anyway. Dan dropped Amy to her place and I guessed he was going to drop me now.

I continued to look out of the window, now my irritation was back to the top of the list. When Daniel stopped the car, I realised we had reached my place. He had parked the car a little away, in a dark corner.

“Thanks…bye,” I said and was about to get out when he held my hand.

“Wait,” he said in the same tone. I stayed back waiting for his talk.

“That was rude you know?” he said.

“What?” I asked grumpily.

“You just left us in the middle and didn’t even come back! Infact I had to come and look for you,” he sighed.

“Rude was it,” I muttered.

“What’s wrong? We had so much fun today but this spoilt it,” he shook his head. Well, we were on the same page at least.

“Maybe that’s because we were just by us,” I suggested.

“Oh…I thought you wanted to meet my friends,” he was staring at me. I finally met his eyes.

“Yeah, but I…I don’t know,” I shrugged.

“What is it?” he asked.

“I started to feel bored okay! I didn’t know anyone except you!” I admitted.

“Oh, so you were rude to Amy?” he asked.

Okay, this is my limit! “Excuse me?” I asked barely controlling my anger.

“Yeah, you didn’t even speak to her properly, I m sure she felt bad,” his eyes flashed.

“Wow, you’re so worried about her!” I was about to get out but he held me again.

“What is wrong with you?” he asked.

“You think I wasn’t hurt?! You were talking to her the whole time and I sat there like a third wheel the whole time!” I shouted.

“That’s because I didn’t want her to feel awkward,” he defended.

“Right! So you left me feeling awkward! Why should it matter anyway right? It’s not like you are going to be spending time with me everyday, so obviously why bother with me,” I was livid.

He just stared at me. Astonished.

“So that’s why you decided to call Seth?” he asked.

“What?” I was confused.

“Yeah, you heard me,” he shrugged.

“I didn’t call Seth, he called me, and I m glad he did,” I wanted to punch something or someone now.

“Right, very glad,” he pursed his lips.

“Why are you dragging him into this?” I asked.

“Because of the way you act around him! I saw your face when you saw your cell, and when you were speaking to him, you didn’t even care about me!” what?

“Are you mad Daniel?” my eyes were wide.

“I have seen the way he looks at you, so intense! He revolves around you! And can you imagine how crazy it drives me to think that you are near him all the time and that you might change your mind?”

“There is nothing going on between Seth and I! Okay? How many times do I have to tell you that? And why are we speaking about him? He wasn’t even here…he didn’t ruin it Daniel!”

“Whatever Nicole, you are prejudiced when it comes to him,” he snorted.

“You know what? I don’t want to argue with you! Because you aren’t getting the point! It isn’t Seth! Its you! And tonight, you ruined it! If only you had tried to make me feel comfortable too…good bye Daniel,” I looked at him. A soft look touched his face for a second, but I was too angry. I needed to get out.

I got down and slammed the door. I hadn’t taken one step when the car zoomed ahead. Rude was I?

I was sure of one thing; Amy was in love with Daniel. Daniel was oblivious of this fact…but he cared for her. A lot.

This should bother me, and it did. But it was nothing compared to how Daniel had spoken of Seth. I hated it.

A/N: Finally finally finally Nicole and Daniel are toppling. Not writing this since forever was bothering me a lot…and I continued to think about where to take it when I just couldn’t resist to bring in another character and a fight!

Well, hope you liked it…not sure whether its my best effort.
