The Twilight Saga

This is about Amelie, a half vampire half human girl who is different in a lot of ways to Renesmee. She was created, like a vampire, however the venom didn't have time to spread completely, leaving her part human. She is subject to uncontrolable rages in which she kills hundreds of people with out meaning to. It is set around the time of Eclipse.

Ghost

Chapter 1

I heard my Dad pause outside my door, I thought he was going to come in, but then I heard a meow. Oh, my cat must be outside.

“I need another bookcase.” I said to him.

His response came quickly, “No you don’t I’m sure there’s enough room on your current one.”

He came into my room, his eyes twinkling, he too, turned to look at my colossal bookshelf, which covered the whole of the wall.

“Look, Dad!” I point to the books neatly stacked at the bottom because they couldn’t fit, “They have no room at all!”

Dad smiled at me, “I’m sure you could create a bookshelf on your floor like that.”

I mock-glared at him, and whined, “Daaaad, you know I can’t. You have a day off tomorrow, can’t you build me one then?”

“I will put it on my to-do list.”

I moaned, my Dad’s to-do was about a mile long, and went from jobs that dated years back (painting the bathroom) to very recent jobs (extending the garage). If my bookshelf was put on his to-do list, it would never get done.

“There’s room there!” I pointed to the only spare wall above my bed, “You can build me one like my old room had. You know, the simple wood nailed to the wall, or whatever.”

“No, they had a terrible design. I will think long and hard about it.”

I could tell he was joking, but I followed him out of my room and down the hallway, “Think about it now and then do it tomorrow. It’s supposed to be raining so you can’t do any brick laying. You have all day to build me a bookshelf!”

I had stopped walking, Dad paused at the top of the stairs, “I will put it on my to-do list.”

I groaned and pretended to sulk. I could hear my Dad laughing, I joined in with him.

I knew it was going to get done, either tomorrow or over the weekend. There were two reasons I was positive of this: First, I was an only child and my Dad loved to see me smile, so he did a lot of stuff for me, and second, I was a wildly volatile half vampire half human girl, who with no warning, could massacre a whole village if I got angry. I got most things done for me.

I suppose I felt a bit guilty about being able to have pretty much anything done for me because people were terrified I would eat them, but they were right to worry. Of course, when I got angry, I didn’t mean to kill people, it just happened. And I regretted it deeply later. I always tried to console the families, however they ran away screaming every time they saw me. Sometimes this made me angry and I would kill the rest of them, so I gave up trying to help.

I had never killed someone close to me though. But seeing as I didn’t have any friends, I was an only child and my Mum had been murdered four years ago, my Dad was the only one close to me.

There was one major advantage of being me though. I was born with a very advanced mind. Which meant I had gone to school for a year, but at the end of that year, I knew everything my Dad knew so there was no need to continue my schooling. The Government accepted this and after that they stayed well away from my Dad and I.

Actually, I thought, staring and my bookcase, if someone wanted to hurt me, my books would be a very good place to start.

I loved my books, they were my only companions really. I loved my Dad to pieces, but he was still a Dad. My books consoled me, because they showed me fragments of lives that were so much worse than mine. Even if all of them were fictional.

I was completely sure what the name of my species was, I supposed that technically zombie was the most accurate, because I was dead but then I was saved by the kiss of a vampire.

I absentmindedly rubbed the crescent-shaped scar on my neck. I had never met that vampire who brought me back to life. I’m not that bothered either. Dad said she was nice, with short, black hair, he said she looked more like a pixie than a vampire.

Waking up from being dead, now there was an unpleasant experience. Imagine pins and needles. Now imagine that times a thousand. You now sort of understand how uncomfortable being brought back was.

I slumped onto my bed, murmuring apologies to my cat, Hazel, and turned my iPod on to some random noise. I never really got into music. It was always just background noise, quiet unnerved me. I opened my current book, an enjoyable book about demons. It was relaxing change from the endless romance that made up most of my books. I don’t think the main character in this book was even capable of love. He seemed cold.

I’d already had dinner, so there were no more disturbances that evening. It took me a couple of hours to finish my book, but I stayed up late thinking about stuff. I did it a lot. I talk to myself in my mind. Well, I speed talk. So it was about one in the morning when I finally turned my light off.

Chapter 16

“Come on!” Alice whined, “I want to do something. All of you are really boring.”

I looked up from my book at Alice, who was bouncing up and down in front of me.

“I’m quite happy here.” I told her mildly, “This is the first time that I have had set eyes on a book in too many months. I’m quite happy here.”

Alice pulled a face at me and then turned to Bella, “You haven’t had a makeover by Ria and me.” Bella pulled a face as Alice dragged her up.

“Edward! Help me!” She begged as Ria took her other arm and dragged her out of the room. He laughed and followed them out of the room.

Rosalie and Emmett had disappeared, but I had a very good guess where they had got to. Especially as they told Hannah she couldn’t come. Hannah looked after Ria and the others and then followed.

Carlisle had been phoning everyone who he could to warn them along with Eleazer, Carmen, Tanya, Esme and Kate. That left just Irina and me.

“What did Ellie say to you?” She asked me after a moment of silence.

“Why did you want me to see her? It just seemed that I made her angry.” I asked bitterly.

She sighed, “She needs a lot of love. The more love a person has, the better. And Ellie’s been having that much lately.”

“You know her well?” She spoke as if she had spent a lot of time with her.

Irina laughed quietly, “We have a lot of common interests.”

“No.” I surprised even myself by disagreeing with her, “You’ve been through the same thing as she has. Or similar.”

She looked surprised, “Similar. He was my fiancé.”

“What happened?” My curiosity couldn’t be quenched.

Irina tilted her head at me, and looked at me in a puzzled way, “Why do you want to know?”

I blushed, “I’m just curious. It’s okay if you’re not going to tell me, I understand.”

She looked at me strangely, as if considering something, “I need to talk about it to someone. I hate not being able to speak of it. Just please don’t interrupt me, I probably won’t be able to keep talking if you do.”

“Not a word.” I promised and she smiled gratefully at me, her white teeth flashing.

She took a deep breath and began, “His name was Laurent, and he was in a small coven, there were only three of them. But I didn’t know about any of this until he arrived, uninvited on our doorstep. He was one of the vampires who drank human blood, so we were all wary of him, even me. In fact, for a while, I hated him being here. But he told us that Carlisle had sent him, and so we accepted him.

“Our love wasn’t like Edward’s and Bella’s, or yours and Alec’s. It took time, we were great friends, but I had never considered him for a lover once. I found him to be very good company as we shared many interests. I taught him how to hunt – seeing as he had never tried it with animals, and he taught me about the different methods of climbing he had learnt while in Africa.

“And that was how it was at first – a friendship. But then we were hunting one day and we both tried to attack the same bear, and I somehow landed on top of him. I tried to get up, because I thought that it would make our friendship awkward, but he kept me there. I was really nervous, because I had secretly been wanting this, but I shouldn’t have been. He just kissed me really sweetly on lips and told me that he loved me. I was so happy, and I maybe kissed him back with too much force, there’s still a dent in the ground where we were lying.

“We spent all the day together…and all of the night together. Kate and Tanya were always teasing me about ‘when the wedding was going to be’ and yet they were amazed when I announced that I was engaged.

“Laurent was so romantic. He was constantly telling me that he loved me, and he would let me know in small kisses and touches. I was in love, Amelie, I was head over heels in love. He told me to be proud of everything that we had together, and I was. I loved my life.

“But my happiness didn’t last for long. And old friend from his coven, Victoria, came back to see him. She asked a favour of him, but he wouldn’t tell me what it was. It was the first time that I had been worried that there was someone else for him. But he assured me all the time that it was an old grudge that Victoria held.

“He promised me that he would only be gone for a month at the most, and that he would come back to me as soon as he could. It was hard to let him go, but I contented myself with the thought that there was going to be a wedding when he returned.

“We said goodbye, and at the time I thought that it was enough, but when I look back I wished that I told him more. He never came back for me,” Irina’s face crumpled as she said this and I placed me hand on her arm. She didn’t acknowledge it.

“I had to find out what had happened, and I was preparing to track him, when the other one, Victoria returned to us. She seemed more annoyed than upset by what had happened, but she told me all of the details. I didn’t want to know all of the details, it made it easier to imagine it, but they are branded in my mind.

“Victoria told me that he had been hunting a human on the Quileute reservation, and that the werewolves there had killed him for it. They chased him across four states, until they caught him in Montana. Victoria caught up with them in time to see them kill him, and…” She broke of with a tearless sob, “And he’s not coming back for me. They’ll never be a wedding, and I‘ll never see him again. There was so much I wanted to say! So much more he needed to know.

“The others refused to let me take revenge on the werewolves, they restrained me most of the time, locked me in my room. But after a while, they unlocked everything. I was pathetic and useless, I didn’t have the strength to move.

“But then the Cullens asked if they could stay. I had linked the Cullens to Laurent’s death, as they didn’t stop the wolves. But Ellie came with them.

“It was easy to tell that she was going through the same thing as me. She wasn’t getting much better, although she was putting on a good front. I saw through it and made it my job to make her happy again.

“But nothing would ever make her completely whole – it was the same with Alec. The only thing that could so that was having you back here, it’s the only thing that will make me better. But he won’t ever come back.” Her voice became strangled at the last sentence and her face crumpled. It was clear that she couldn’t go on.

I stood up and hugged her hard, “Ssssh…” I whispered to her, “It’s okay. I’ll make sure that Ellie gets better, I won’t give up. But I’m worried that it will take a while.”

“She’ll eventually forgive you.” Irina murmured, “Eventually you’ll do something to let her know that you still care.”

I shook my head sadly, “I’m not sure what I could to make her see it. Otherwise I would have done it by now.”

“You’ll will do something,” Irina promised, “You may not mean to, but eventually, you will.”

“Are you sure?” What happened if Ellie never forgives me? If she just leaves me to bed forever.

Irina pulled her face away and smiled at me, “I promise she will.”

As she said this a vampire with curly, dark brown hair who I didn’t recognise burst into the room. She was carrying a small, crumpled leaf in her hand. She looked wildly around for vampires before she spotted us.

“Do you recognise this smell?” He put the leaf down on the coffee table in front of us and I leaned forward to inhale.

Irina shook her head but I was frozen. No, no, no. Not now.
