Growing To Love You
A Bella and Edward story.
Edward's POV
I kept running, I had no idea where I was, it was just a blur of trees. "Edward wait! Please! You know I love you!" she called as she chased me. "No, you don't. You know you don't! Please just leave me alone!" I screamed back.
"Edward-" she called again. "No Tanya. I tried to be nice but now-" I was interrupted by a faint crying. "Mommy?!" At that moment I forgot about Tanya and how angry I was. The sweetest scent glided on the wind and the distressed cries continued. "Mommy?!"
A beautiful little girl appeared from behind a tree. She had flowing hair that fell past her shoulders, a wonderful chocolate brown with eyes to match. She stood up to my knee and was carrying a teddy bear.
"Mommy?" she asked me with a very shy voice. I took a step towards her and she jumped back, tripping over a root. I ran to catch her. I froze, trying to hold my breath and keep the intoxicating smell away. She looked up at me and quickly buried herself and the teddy into my chest.
"Edward, what the-" Tanya ran over to discover the girl hiding in my chest. "We need to get Carlisle." She knew I meant her as she darted back. "Now little one, what happened?"
Edward's POV

Edward's POV
The girl didn't speak as I sat by a tree waiting. "Mommy." she whispered. Soon I could hear Carlisle's thoughts. "What happened to her?" he questioned. I shrugged my shoulders carefully, trying to keep the girl still.
Within seconds Carlisle had disappeared 'I'm searching the area' he told me in his thoughts. Tanya stood staring at me, her mind began to wander... 'We could get married and adopt her...' "Stop right there Tanya!" Hadn't I made it clear that I wasn't interested?
'Edward, get Tanya to take the girl home. You need to see this.' Faint images played in his mind but I tried to ignore them. "Tanya, you have to take her back." Tanya just nodded as we carefully exchanged the girl. "Carlisle?" I called, trying to pick his scent out of the fading girl's.
"I'm here." Carlisle replied. I twisted through the trees until I found him crouched over something. "Carlisle, what-" He moved out of the way and revealed the 'something'. -

Edward's POV
"A bag of documents and the girl's things." Carlisle confirmed. "Her mother has left her here?" I questioned, shocked that someone could do that to the poor child. He nodded as he pulled out a piece of paper. "Isabella Marie Swan." he said as I picked up the bags and we headed back.
As we neared the house I could hear the many confused thoughts. "Edward, what is going on?!" Alice demanded as soon as I walked in. I scanned the room to see Tanya talking to Rose while Emmett watched over Esme holding Isabella.
"She won't talk Carlisle." Esme sighed as she placed the girl on the floor. She stood in the middle of the room, staring at everyone. Her cheeks filled with red as she clutched her teddy bear for comfort. Her eyes finally met mine and she ran and jumped at me.
"Esme, we should talk in the kitchen my love." Carlisle took her hand and led her out. A few minutes later Esme called "Cullen meeting!" I placed Isabella on the sofa and followed my siblings into the kitchen.
"Now I have explained the situation to Esme and now it's time for your vote. The young girl was left by her mother and we see it as our duty to care for her." Carlisle said with a serious tone. I had read in Esme's thoughts how she longed for a child and she saw this as her chance.
"I love it! I want her to stay!" Alice bounced around with excitement. This little girl was going to be her doll. Rosalie agreed, her thoughts also longed for a child and she could help Alice. Emmett and Jasper nodded and eyes fell on me.
"I guess she should stay." Everyone's eyes lit up at the thought of a new, human addition to the family. "Well it's settled. Isabella stays with us." Carlisle confirmed before kissing Esme. "No!" a small cry came from the door. Everyone turned to see Isabella stood in the doorway.
"What's the matter sweetheart?" Esme asked softly. Isabella looked down at her teddy and took in a tiny lung full of air. "My name is Bella." she said in her little voice. "I am sorry Bella." Carlisle apologized. "Who is tnis?" Esme walked over and pointed at the bear. "My teddy, Eddie." Suddenly Emmett boomed with laughter. "Eddie you're a teddy!" -
