The Twilight Saga

I was shivering, not because it was cold but in fear, tears were rolling down my eyes, I could do nothing to wipe them, my hands and legs were tied with such fierceness that now I couldn’t even feel them, it was all numb. I was kidnapped.

I clearly remembered the night I had been brought in this dark scary chamber, ‘my boyfriend Neil had broken his leg and I had been to see him, by the time I decided to leave it was already late, kissing Neil good bye and good night, I went out. The way back home was lonely, nobody was around, I should have felt happy that no drunken man lay on the footpath, but I wasn’t, instead I had felt very uneasy and the next thing I knew was being hit on the head. When I opened my eyes I found myself in this scary dark chamber. I saw a huge shadow enter, it was a man  and then he switched on the light, he had the most  inhuman face, his blond hair reflected the light from the bulb that hung above us, his expression was  very harsh, and then he smiled widely in the most evil way and hungrily  revealing his fangs! I gasped, not knowing what to believe, and behind him walked another man, much younger, with a soft face blue eyes and the same hair as that of the vampire, he looked much younger, much human. And then the younger one said, “Father, it’s her.” “I know son, I will have her in the end.” And with that the ‘father’ left, and the son lingered behind and gave me one last look, remorse on his face.

I started to cry harder, I, Kate Mayer m just a young girl, just sixteen years old, with a beautiful family and a perfect boyfriend, I was just discovering life! I couldn’t die that too in hands of a vampire! I started thinking about Neil; I ended up sobbing so hard that I didn’t hear him enter.

“Here, drink water,” it was the son. He brought the glass to my lips, I gulped down the water thankfully I was feeling hungry and thirsty.

“T-t-than-ks,” I stuttered.

“Your welcome,” he said looking at me in a strange way, he looked as if he was in pain.

He placed the glass away and sat back not further away from me, this was my only opportunity to get out of here, “Please, please I m begging you, please get me out of here, I want to go home,” I pleaded. He froze, his face became hard yet it was beautiful, “please, I don’t want to die, I wont tell anyone about your existence, just get me out of here,” I continued hoping that I was persuasive enough to turn him against his father.

“I m sorry, I can’t, you smell different, and your blood will give my father all the strength he can get, you have to die,” he voice was as cold as ice. It cut me, broke all the hope I had to survive.

“Will it pain?” I asked childishly even though I knew the answer, I just wanted to keep him close, I knew I would die and I didn’t want to be alone in the last hours of my life.

“Yes, it will,” he said, his tone was softer.

“Will y-you f-feed on me too?” I asked; this was the weirdest and the not most ideal conversation to be having with my kidnapper, especially when he was a vampire, I probably sounded like a tease and desperate for him to drink my blood, but it was the most appropriate in the present situation, and I needed to know.

“No,” he said, smiling a bit.

“Why?” I asked immediately without giving it much thought.

He stared at me for a while, I looked down not wanting to meet his eyes, “Because I don’t want to hurt you,” he said in a grave tone.

“Where is your father?” I asked looking at him, fear was obvious in my tone, and it was his father who I was afraid of, it was his father who was going to kill me by drinking my blood.

“He is out,” he said hesitantly, I at once understood that I didn’t want to know.

“When is he going to kill me?” I asked, wow, I must be going crazy, here I was discussing the time of my death.

“I dunno,” he replied looking away. My instincts told me it was a lie.

We sat in silence for a while, I had lost the hope of every feeling my hands and feet, it almost felt good now, my numbness had passed its limits, if I would walk which was right now a distant dream, it would feel like I was dragging a dead part of my body.

“What’s your name?” I asked curiously, I never dreamt his world had existed in real; it was just in books to me until now.

“Draco,” he smirked.

“How old are you and your dad?” I asked with the same curiousness, it was miracle that this vampire wasn’t attacking me; instead he sat conversing with me.

"Why does it matter? We are frozen, we remain the same,” he smirked again, I understood that his anger was against his kind not on me and my curiousness.

I didn’t say anything; there was silence again between us.

“I m 560 years old and my father 1028,” he finally said.

“Wow!” I appreciated.

“For you,” he muttered.

“Why do you call him your father? I mean it’s not like he is, right?” I asked him, there was such a huge age difference, how can a vampire have a son? Not if they are just pretending to call each other ‘son’ and ‘father’ but they were so similar!

“You are full of questions,” he laughed, “he is my father- no he didn’t create me, he was with my mother, she was a special hybrid, and then she gave birth to me, and she left us for some reason, he is my father,” he explained. I was sure he had never opened himself up in front of any one.

“I m sorry,” I whispered.

“Me too,” he agreed. Just then we heard a noise, to me it was just a dull bell ringing but to him it was something more, something which made his face fill with knowledge.

“What-” I started to say he moved closer to me, with a pocket knife in his hands, he pulled me to his side almost as if he were hugging me, I shivered against his body, in seconds he withdrew, he had cut the rope of my hands but they were still numb I could barely move them, he took my hands in his and placed them on my lap. And then he turned toward my feet and cut the rope bringing some relief. I felt hope rise in me as the blood flowed till my finger tips and toes.

“Are you going to help me?” I asked, maybe having a conversation with him and softening him a bit had helped after all.

“No.” he said in a cold dead voice.

“Oh,” I muttered and swallowed they lump that rose down my throat. He got up now, definitely to leave.

“Thank you Draco,” I whispered to his back. He froze.

“Thank you? Why? I m not helping you,” Surprise broke his ‘cold’ façade.

“Because you didn’t lie to me,” the next words were just immediate, it was as if some one else was speaking them.

“I m sorry,” he nodded and left the room.

I sat there hugging my self, I knew I was going to die, I knew a sadistic vampire was going to kill me, and there was no way I was going to survive. How I wish I could have said goodbye to my lost ones! I laughed inwardly, nobody gets an advance notice that they are going to be kidnapped so they better say their greetings and bye’s in case they don’t return.

Here I lay with my hands and feet free, but I didn’t even think of running, it was the most stupid thing! Vampires had taken me; they were obviously faster than me to catch hold of me before I even made it to the door.

As I sat thinking all the stupid things possible, Draco walked to me, he had a plate in his hand and a glass of water.

“Food, for you,” he said and placed it in front of me.

“Pizza, thanks,” I smiled; at least I would die fed. Die fed? Well, I was just an animal to be sacrificed here; they were just feeding me before I die. The feeling of being extremely hungry disappeared, the idea of last ritual before killing me made me feel anxious and scared. I returned to how I was before, Draco’s presence had helped me ignore my fears for a while but now it was all back.

I was going to die! I wasn’t masochistic and wasn’t looking forward to all the pain.

“Eat,” Draco said noticing me staring at the pizza in front of me.

“I m not hungry,” I whispered looking away from him, my throat was all dry, I drank the water from the glass.

“Are you sure?” his eyes were filled with pity.

I simply shook my head not looking at him. Suddenly I felt him touch my hand, I looked up him, and he paused for a moment and asked me to get up. I could barely move, I didn’t want to be killed! I felt hollow inside. He led me outside the chamber, and then we entered a hallway, lit with dim lights, and then we went down creaky stairs, there were weird ornaments on the wall including skulls, masks.

“Come,” Draco said gently, I was frozen, I couldn’t move, my breathing was heavy. I didn’t answer him in any way, neither by words nor by walking forward, he slipped his arm through my waist and dragged me.

We were in front of a door, it had a monster looking mask edged to the wood, Draco opened the door, and I gasped.

This room was huge; it had a chandelier which lit up the room in a scary way. I noticed the wall were painted black and red, what scared me the most was the contents of the room, there were coffins covered with cobwebs, and there was a table below the chandelier, it had beakers and glass funnels with slimy stuff, and at the other end was a shelf of books and objects which I didn’t recognize, the rest of the place normal furniture.

I felt Draco give me a gentle push, I woke up from my trance, adrenaline rushed through my body and my heart beat increased, “please, help me,” I begged. Pain and frustration crossed his face. “Please Draco, please,” I continued begging. He brought his hand forward as if to pull be back from this death room, but stopped as he heard a voice.

“And why do you think he is going to help you beautiful girl?” Out of no where the father had appeared, he was right in this room. I started crying again, I felt a hand slip through my waist, and his face touching my neck, smelling my blood.

“Call me Stephan,” he whispered seductively.

“Noooooooo, Draco!” I shouted, Draco’s face was in agony but he closed the door, deciding to help is father and not me.

I tried with all my strength to get the hands of this monster of my body, but I couldn’t budge even a bit of him, he was too strong, he was a vampire, a sadistic one. “Leave me please,” I cried harder than I had ever before.

“Not for anything, your blood…” his voice trailed. He turned me towards himself, I was facing him now, he had a fierce hungry look on his face, he bent down and his lips touched my throat. Then his hands gripped my shoulders so hard that it pained, and then he pushed me across the room, I crashed into the table which seemed to have broken into pieces due to the force. My whole body ached; it felt as if every bone in me had been broken.

“Ow!” I scream in angst. I lay there limply moaning, I tried to get myself up in a sitting position, just then I felt something hard on my leg, I looked up, it was his foot. I realized what he was going to do. Vampires did love playing with their food.

“No, no…” my leg snapped. I started screaming madly, I couldn’t believe that things could get even more painful. I felt him grab my by my throat and thrust me against the wall. I was like his little toy of no use, which he could break. My head hit the wall and I felt like I was dreaming, I touched my forehead, blood was oozing out, my death was approaching. I heard a triumphant growl; the hunter had reached his highest limit of endurance. I felt a pressure on my hand, he broke it too. There wasn’t much energy left in me to scream but I continued moaning. I felt him pulling me in a standing position,

and then lifted me off the ground, his hands were caressing my face, I could feel him breathing hard, maybe it was because he was so close to blood and finally his lips touched my throat, he bit me and then his fangs entered deeper into my neck sucking out blood from my body.

Having been thrown at the wall, the breaking or my leg and hand was nothing compared to the feeling of the blood being sucked out of the body. I struggled for a few seconds and then I started loosing my strength, the pain eased and became a numbing sensation in the background, everything was in slow motion, flashes started playing in my head, all those important memories, with my parents, family, friends and Neil, I love you all I thought, and then Draco’s face flashed into my mind.

The pain was ending, I was loosing it, I was dying, just then I felt being pulled out of it. The pain returned I could hear growling; the pressure around my throat and face slackened and fell down on the floor. I tried opening my eyes and see what was happening but I was too weak, I just lay there whimpering and praying for this pain to end.

‘I won’t let you do this!’ I heard a familiar voice…was is Draco’s?

‘Are you mad? You will go against me for this girl! She is just a human! Don’t be an idiot!’ Another voice shouted.

‘Yes, I will save her!’ Draco growled.

‘I don’t want to kill you son.’

‘You won’t be killing anyone tonight…not ever.’

‘So it’s fight to kill.’

‘YES’

And then all I could hear was fierce growls and crashes, my ears began to ache, I didn’t know in what state I was. Everything went silent, I felt comforted as something cold touched me, and pick me up.

‘I will save you,’ it was Draco, he had won.

At the sound of his voice I was able to relax, able to close my mind, able to accept unconsciousness completely. Everything went blank…it was peaceful.

I lay on something soft and comforting, I opened my eyes, everything was bright here, the walls were white and towards my right was a huge window wide open with white curtains. I tried to move but winced, my right hand had needles, and the other hand was covered in a bandage, and my leg was raised in air with a white bandage covered too. I realized that I had broken my leg, and then I had a flash back of whatever had happened! Draco had saved me, he had.

“Oh, you’re up, your parents will be here in an hour,” a woman in a white uniform entering through the door told me.

“What happened?” I asked totally confused, I needed to know how I had ended up here.

“Don’t you remember? Well, you were brought here by a young man,” she said.

“Young man?” I questioned, it had to be Draco.

“Yes, he seemed very odd, he said something about finding you in the woods, and then he left,” she muttered frowning.

“Oh, I don’t remember what happened,” I lied.

“That’s okay honey, that always happens, but the only thing that is confusing is you loosing so much blood, it had to be some animal attack seeing your wounds,” she concluded.

I didn’t say anything, he came over to me and raised my bed in a leaning position, and she told me that my parents would be arriving soon, they wouldn’t have left but they had to get a few necessities. I thanked here and she closed the door behind her. I closed my eyes and started thinking about whatever had happened. The thought of how and why Draco helped me kept bothering me, I played his last words in my head-‘I will save you.’ It was a wonder that I remembered this, I felt a huge gust of wind through the window,

my eyes flew open, and then it was gone. It didn’t seem real, not natural. To my shock I found an old dusty looking paper on my lap, a parchment. I used my right hand to lift if up and bring it in a reading position. The handwriting on it was small and slanting.

Dear Kate,

I m sorry for the condition you ended up in, but it is better than what would it have been. I want to be open with you Kate, I want to tell you something, want to tell you why I stood up against my father, why I ended him. You are the reason Kate, there is a great similarity between you and my dead mate. She had the same eyes as you, everything about you reminded me of her and I couldn’t see you die, couldn’t let you die, I didn’t want to go through her death twice. I loved her very much, I still do, I will never find someone like her but I will do everything to save people, it’s the thing that will remind me of her, I m not

the kind of person like my father was, I m different Kate. You have brought the
good out of me, you saved me.

I hope you lead a happy life from now on, I m glad I met you.

Yours truly,

Draco.’

I read this letter twice…thrice. I felt a mixture of emotions all at once-happiness, sorrow, gratitude, triumph. I small smile lit up my face, I knew the gust of wind had actually been Draco, I felt someone watching me so I looked up and saw Draco standing there, his face held a kind thankful smile. ‘Thank you’ he mouthed, I nodded understandingly. I blinked…he was gone.

I continued smiling, one good thing had come out of my kidnapping, I had released someone from their pain. I giggled at a side thought…I couldn’t tell anyone what ever had happened…that I had been kidnapped.
