"Momma! Momma!" I heard my daughter say as she turned the corner into our living room, carrying something in her hand." Look at what Jacob made for me!" She held her hand out like a cup as she jumped into my arms,"Isn't it beautiful!"
"It is... amazing!"I replied as I looked down at the wooden figure of Renesmee on the back of a wolf (I safely assumed it was Jacob),"Where is Jacob anyway? I hear and smell him, but-" I was cut short as I saw Jacob turn into the room with a mile-wide grin on his face. My smile.
"Hey Bells! Hey Nessie! Hey leech!" he replied. I would've said something if it wasn't obvious that he was kidding, instead I threw a pillow at him. I looked at Edward's relaxed face next to mine on the couch when I felt Renesmee jump off of my lap and saw her soar into Jacob's. She put her empty hand to his face, I assume expressing her admiration of the gift in her hand. I felt out of the loop because I knew that I was the only one in the room that didn't know what she was saying, but I didn't mind. I was surrounded by people (well, kind of) that I loved, that loved me, all in different ways.
I heard Edward clear his throat as he spoke up "Hey Jacob! Can you get Renesmee ready for bed for us please? I need a brief discussion with Bella"
"Sure, sure." He turned around and disappeared with Renesmee blowing kisses at us. I returned them as Edward smiled at her. As I heard the water running and Jacob saying something to Renesmee about making her breath smell better than the vampires in the living room I felt Edward's hand lift to my cheek.
"Alice saw something earlier, that you're not going to like, that I don't like."
"What is it Edward, is it about Renesmee, oh, my goodness, Edward, don't let it be-"
"She'll be fine. It wasn't about her, it was about Renee."
"Renee?" I sat there trying to imagine what he could be talking about for a second before he continued talking about my mom.
"She is having problems. Alice saw her signing papers, papers that could change things."
"Edward, just spit it out!"
"She-" His statement was cut short as something slammed our front door open and my jaw dropped in horror when I saw her -my mother- covered in blood.
