A Twist Of Life

Banner by: Molly Greeves

This story happens in the time when Bella has to choose between Edward and Jacob. The whole Twist in this story is that Bella doesn’t choose Edward, she chooses Jacob instead... Why? Because Bella has for some reason found a certain love for kids after she drives past a daycare and sees the mothers and kids hugging and kissing each other... Bella then thinks she can’t have kids with Edward, so she chooses Jacob. That was the hardest decision she ever had to make, but Bella went with her mind instead of with her heart. Bella then marries Jacob, has kids and is having a wonderful life.

After five years-(which then makes Bella 23 years old)- the Volturi went and checked with the Cullen’s to see if Bella was still human, and to their surprise Bella is not even with the Cullen’s anymore. That to them is danger because Bella could reveal their secret. They then find out where she is and go to kill her. That forces the Cullen’s to go and protect Bella and to let her know what is coming for her, because Edward just could not stand anyone hurting Bella because he obviously still loves her.

What will happen then, after Edward hasn’t seen Bella for five years and still loves her and Jacob feeling very protective of his family...

Chapter 16-

For just a moment, a swift moment, had I forgotten that I was dating the most popular and desirable guy in school. Being with Edward makes me forget all these egotistical views of the world. When he's with me, the world becomes a different place. A place where I, Bella Swan, am not dating Edward Cullen, the school 'used to-be player', jock and captain of the football team. A place where I'm dating Edward. The real Edward.

So as we walked through the school corridors, his arm slung around my waist gently with my hands being occupied with his, I finally realised the stares and murmurs coming from the other students. And then I realised what this must also look like. I was just another one of Edwards' 'girls'.

Ah, the competition as well! How I had forgotten about that. This must mean that Edward 'wins'. And I bet many had bet on Edward being able to break through my 'shell' and getting me to open up to him just enough to get the necklace. The necklace that suddenly weighed a ton around my neck. What if Edward had just been playing along all the time? The Edward before this seemed heartless enough to be capable of that. What if everything he told me had been a lie?

As we walked to the cafeteria, I glanced up at him quickly, only in enough time to see him grinning from ear to ear. A grin that would only mean that his won. I raggedly sighed as we walked through the cafeteria doors. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Yeah, that must be it.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, got up from their seats and started clapping. Whistles and cheers erupted from the crowd, causing me hide my head in Edwards chest before realising what all of this meant. Was this all just a game?

I looked up at Edward, who was still grinning, hardly aware of the fact that I was holding onto his arm for dear life but basking in the glory of the attention.

Once the cheers died down, and Edward, an entire millenium later realised that we needed to sit down, he escorted us to an empty table.

I sat, my head bowed down, hurt and confused. Could this all be game? Could it? Would my Edward do that to me?

"Bella, angel, what's wrong?" Edward asked, reaching forward and tilting my chin up. He smiled lovingly at me, but then his eyes went cold, causing me to shift uncomfortably.

"Nothing." I lied and turned my head away from his hand.

"Bella. It's not nothing. I know you well enough to know that something is bothering you." He murmured, taking my hands into his.

"Tell me, please?" He pleaded, and I turned to look at him, pondering. Is this Edward, my Edward, capable of being such a soulless monster? Can it be?

I sighed and sat forward, gripping his hands tightly.

"Edward. Be honest with me, please." I said and his eyebrows furrowed, a scowl entering his features. I had the urge to smooth it out, but resisted, gripping his hands even tighter. Better just come out and say it.

"Are you playing with me?" I asked, and realised just how foolish that must sound. He raised his one eyebrow, a smirk threatening to break through.

"What I meant," I sighed before he could question me, "was if you're playing me." I said and looked into his eyes. To be honest, it would suck if he were. His become everything I need. My best friend, a brother, protector and most importantly my boyfriend whom I love with all my heart.

"Bella, what? No." He said.

"What brought this on?" He asked, after a slight pause. "You know I love you, right Bells?" He asked and I nodded slightly, looking down.

"You seemed so much like the Edward before this Edward," I motioned at his body, sighing.

"Oh Bella. No, I'm definitely not playing 'with' you." He chuckled and I shook my head, giggling.

"You sure, Edward? Because it really would suck if you were and if you were lying to me now." I said and stared into his eyes, trying to decipher what was going on in those emerald orbs. He seemed genuinely honest, though his eyes still held a small ounce of uncertainty. I shrugged it off. No more second-questioning Edward. If he says his not, his not.

"Bella, I would never...-" I cut him off by kissing him quickly. He smiled against my lips. I pulled back and grabbed his hands again.

"I'm sorry Edward, I'm being stupid again, aren't I?" I sighed, and he shook his head.

"You're adorable." He smiled and kissed my hands. No, this is definitely my Edward.

"Thank you." I blushed, the heat running up from the back of my neck toward my cheeks, where it spread like wild fire.

"And that is even more adorable." He laughed and touched my cheek. How could I have ever doubted his love for me? I smiled.

"Oh yeah, Bells?" He smiled, and I looked up at him expectantly. "Yeah?"

"I have a game tomorrow evening. You want to watch?" He asked, his eyes wide with expectancy. "Because, you know, you've never been to any game before and I only thought it be appropriate that you, as my adorable girlfriend, get to see our school team kick some ass and besides, I'd love to have you there, because well.... I'm rambling now, aren't I?" He rolled his eyes and rubbed the back of his neck nervously. Seriously? Edward was nervous to ask me to the game? His game? Now that's adorable.

"I'd love to, Edward." I smiled.

And then I heard 'The Voice', also known as Emmett Swan.

"Bells!!" He yelled and I closed my eyes, squeezing it shut tightly before opening it, taking my hands from Edwards and turning toward Emmett with a grin.

"Em!" I squeeled, jumping up into his arms, as he enveloped me in one of his bear hugs. I smiled into his shoulder.

"Bells. I missed ya!" He laughed, twirling me around. I giggled in his arms.

"I missed you, too Baby Bro." I smiled, hugging him once more.

"I know," he smirked.

"Jerk." I chuckled and hugged him again, noticing just how much I'd missed him. Things had been way too quiet without him.

"How was the football camp?" I asked, and he sighed.

"It was torture. But, we're a stronger team..." He smiled, before glancing around me at the emerald-eyed, gorgeous boy.

"Ed! My man." Emmett boomed, walking around me toward Edward. They did a man hug thing before delving into details of the camp. Edward hadn't gone on the camp due to him wanting to spend time thinking if football still was what he wanted to do. After the life-altering situation with Jared's death, Edward wondered if football was one of the aspects that changed him into what he had become. So taking a break, seemed like a good idea. I supported him on the matter, telling him that whatever he did, would be the right decision for him. So, three days ago, Edward had decided that continuing with football was what he wanted to do. It was his passion. He couldn't live without playing. It's what made him, him. I totally agreed. The coach was all for his decision as well, even thanking him for continuing with football. And that's why his got the game tomorrow. And that's why he was that nervous to have me there. He hadn't played in a while. But this is his niche, he can't go wrong.

"Bella!" I was pulled from my reverie, noticing the small pixie-like form hop toward me.

"Hey Alice." I smiled, and hugged her, squeezing her tightly. Alice had been so occupied with Jasper Hale, that I hadn't seen her in ages. She would regularly call me, tell me all about the progression of their relationship and how much she adored him.

"Bella. I have a suggestion for you." Alice murmured, cutting to the chase. I smiled, "Yeah? And what's that?" I asked.

"We should so have a double date. I'm super ready to have Edward meet Jasper. I think its time." She smiled timidly, gazing expectantly at me. I wonder how that's going to boil over. Edward meeting Jasper? Hah, that will be a sight. That made me think of when I told Alice I was dating Edward.

"You're dating Edward? My Edward?" Alice asked in disbelief, her hands frozen on her computer. She spun around to face me, on her twirly chair, her eyes wide.

"When did this happen?" She asked, staring into my eyes. I shrugged and smiled, remembering all of Edward and my days under 'the tree' on 'our bench'. How we had become close. Where our first kiss happened.

"It just kind of... Happened." I shrugged and she pointedly stared at me, daggers shooting from her glare. She seemed deep in thought, her eyes scrunching up, as she thought. I let the information sink in, knowing just how weird this must be for her. She had not expected this.

"This must be why...." She smiled, talking to herself, her eyes gleaming. "Ah, yes. This must be it."

Suddenly she hopped into my arms on her bed, hugging me tightly.

I chuckled, hugging her back.

"Bella!" She exclaimed, pulling back but keeping me at arms length.

"You know, I actually thought you were different." Alice said, looking sternly at me.

"Alice, I can understand-" I started, but was cut off by her finger on my lips.

"Wait, let me finish." She smiled and got up, pacing the room quickly before planting herself in front of me.

"Bella, you weren't different, you were the difference." She smiled, gazing deeply into my eyes. Okay, so was I like supposed to understand the 'hidden meaning' in that or what? Because right now, she's got me confused. I nodded anyway, urging her to explain.

"Bella, at the beginning, I knew you were the one to give Edward a run for his money. I just... Knew it," she smiled thoughtfully before continuing. "Right from the start, I knew you and Edward had something, or was going to have something. I started to play matchmaker in my head, giving different scenarios I would have you two find yourselves in, but his attitude, was the one thing I couldn't take control of. That was the thing prohibiting you two from getting together. And as weeks progressed with the competition, I was starting to lose hope. Edward stayed the same. The heartless playboy still lived on, and I was getting irritated," she said, and I chuckled, shaking my head. "Bella, and then a few weeks ago, in the same time that I had met my Jasper," she smiled, "I had started to notice the difference in Edward as well. He seemed different, though I couldn't quite place what it was. And then Jared's death that made him spiral into depro. Until a few weeks ago. Edward was smiling again, he was happy and lighter. His expression held confidence, not cockiness, and his gestures were more appropriate. It was like he changed over night! And now you're telling me you're dating him. And now I know what had caused the difference in Edward. Thank you, Bella." Alice got onto her tippy-toes and hugged me, causing me to sniffle, trying to hide my tears. I heard a sniffle come from Alice as well, and soon enough we both ended up crying. We chuckled at our foolishness, and soon Edward came to check on us, noticing how messed up we looked. He rushed over to us, asking what was the matter, and all we could do was laugh and cry. Soon enough Edward had to comfort our foolishness by hugging us both to his chest. Edward is a good guy. A very good guy.

"We love you, Edward." We said in unison, earning an appreciative chuckle.

"I love you, too angels."

"Double-date? Count us in!" I smiled and hugged her, causing her to jump up and down, squealing.

Alice chuckled nervously, as we pulled apart, and I sighed.

"Alice, what is it?" I asked, and she raised an eyebrow causing me to laugh.

"Double-date? Nah, Bella. Seems to boring. Let's make it a triple-date. Way more exciting." She smiled, nodding, waiting for my approval.

"Em and Rose?" I asked and she nodded vigarously, causing me to chuckle.

"Sure, Al. Do what you want." I shrugged and she squealed again.

"Yay! Thanks Bells!" Alice smiled, before prancing away quickly. I chuckled. I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around my waist, pulling me to him.

"What was that about?" He asked into my neck, and I shrugged, before turning around with a smirk.

"Triple-Date with Al and Rose. No backing out. I already agreed." I smiled.

"Great Bells. Just great." He said sarcastically, and I rolled my eyes.

"Deal with it, pretty boy. It'll be fun." I laughed and he sighed exaperatedly.

"No, I'm never going to have fun there. Especially not with my sister and her boyfriend, whom I've never met before getting all cuddly." He groaned and I shook my head.

"Lighten up, Ed. You're gonna have to meet him sometime or another. What a better way than to do it now. Its an open field of introductions and interrogations" I smiled, and he sighed, hugging me tightly.

"Thank God we have a smart person in this relationship," he smiled before sighing, "Okay... I guess you're right." He sighed, and I nodded.

"Yep, and I always be." I smiled and he chuckled into my neck.

"Gosh, I love you." He said, hugging me tighter.

"As I love you." I answered, smiling. Moments like these, I treasure.

I hope and trust that you all enjoyed it. If not, grill me, and demand that I change a few things. Lol. This chapter jumps around a lot and emotions and perceptions went haywire in this one, but they're teens, imma teen, and you all probs know teens and their foolish emotions, so I hope that you enjoyed the chapter enough to ignore my sudden emotional jumps or scene outtakes. So enough of my rambling, I just hope you enjoyed reading:)

P.S- The Key to My Heart is ALMOST finishing up. Or so I think. Lol. Just thought I'd give ya'll a heads up:)
