THE VOLTURI ARE LIKE THE ROYAL FAMILY TO VAMPIRES

THEY OPERATE  FROM VOLTERRA,ITALY.

THEY ARE THE MOST POWERFUL COVEN OF VAMPIRES

The Volturi are the equivalent of a royal family to vampires. They operate from the city of Volterra, Italy. The Volturi are an organized coven of vampires. They enforce the laws of the vampire world. They "invite" other vampires with powerful gifts to join their coven. They are the largest, and most powerful Coven of vampires in the series. They protect the world of vampires by keeping their existence a secret from humans. The Volturi deal swiftly with anything they consider a threat to their Coven or to the vampire world.

 VAMPIRE POLICE

The vampire coven known as the Volturi live in Volterra, Tuscany (Italy). They are regarded as "royalty" by other vampires because they have lived for well over 3000 years and act as police, enforcing the rule that vampires' existence remain a secret from humans. They often send emissaries or enforcers from Volterra to prevent overzealous covens and renegade vampires from exposing their kind. They are guarded by several powerful vampires who have been recruited for their powers and skills. Carlisle once stayed with the coven as a guest, but left due to his desire to avoid harming humans and established his own coven in the United States. At the end of New Moon, the Volturi discover that Bella, a human, has learned that vampires exist and demand that she become a vampire or else be killed. In Eclipse, they arrive in Forks under the pretense of eliminating Victoria and her newborn army for violating Volturi law; their true intentions, however, were to allow Victoria's army to destroy the Cullen clan, whom Aro envies for its large size and for its members' supernatural talents. In Breaking Dawn, the vampire Irina goes to the Volturi and informs them that the Cullens have created an immortal child after seeing Edward and Bella's daughter, Renesmee, hunting close to the Cullens' house. The Volturi coven travel to Forks to destroy Renesmee and the Cullens, but leave when they are outfaced by the group gathered there. It is noted at the end of the novel that the Volturi may again one day attempt to destroy the Cullen family.[12

The Volturi had their eyes on Jane and her brother Alec as potential vampires when they were still human, but were waiting until they were older to change them. When frightened humans started to burn the twins at the stake because of suspected witchcraft, Aro stepped in, slaughtering the whole village. Because of all she went through (several burns), Jane gained the power to voluntarily inflict a mental illusion of agonizing pain on others (burning illusion). Jane has since become one of the prize members of the Volturi Guard. It is unknown whether or not Jane's human name was 'Jane' as well, but the chances are high that it was. Her and Alec's surname remains unknown.

Nowhere in the Twilight Saga is it stated when Alec and Jane lived as humans, other than that it was in a period where burning criminals at the stake was a common execution method. Though already used by the Romans (the notorious tunica molesta), it saw its widest use from the late 12th century, almost at the beginning of the Renaissance, to the 18th century, well into the Illuminism, which may be an indication of when Alec and Jane lived as humans. The mention of them meeting Carlisle may put an earliest date around the 1650-1700s.

  FELIX

JANE
Bella describes Felix as " very big, tall, and thick through the shoulders ", and that his size reminds her of Emmett Cullen. He is described as having a slightly olive complexion which looks odd combined with his chalky skin. He also has short, cropped, black hair, though in the film portrayal, Felix has dark brown hair that is layered. He is not gifted, unlike most of the Volturi. It is assumed that he is kept in the guard because of his immense strength and physicality. He also is thought to be a fighter, because of his eager optimism at the chance of a fight.

In Breaking Dawn, Bella meets Felix again, describing him as hulking and menacing as an iron

Demetri is a vampire with a tracking ability much more powerful than James', as well as a member of the Volturi Guard.

Demetri is a tracker significantly more talented than James and Alistair. This makes him useful in tracking a criminal on the loose.

THE VOLTORI HOUSE IN VOLTERRA

Volterra is a town in Tuscany, Italy. In the Twilight series, it is the ancient Italian city where the Volturi reside. It is very beautiful, situated on a hill and built from sienna (or cinnamon brown) stone, and is known as the safest place in the world from vampire attack. TheVolturi do not permit any sort of hunting there as they do not like anything that could expose them. On their way to Volterra, Alice explains to Bella that the Volturi themselves bring in their food from outside, sometimes quite far away.

''WHY DOES THE VOLTURIS EYES CHANGE FROM RED TO BLACK?''

''ARE THE VOLTURI VILLAINS?''

very interesting and informative piece on volturi
this place in tuscany i cant wait to visit
It seems to me that the Voluri are not really using there powers entirely for good, for the entire vampire population.  It would seem to me that an organization such as this should be more revered instead of feared.  They seek out vampires and humans with special gifts that can help them to keep everyone in line to their "way of thinking".  It seems as though the Cullen family is definitely more humane.  Sometimes the Volturi seem very close to dictators.  I don't feel as though they should try to make everyone fear them so much.
i agree with that point of veiw katherine johnson
Nice.
