The Twilight Saga

I was just wondering if anyone has read The Host and what they thought of it?

Thanks to Stephenie and the Twilight Saga, I have gotten back into reading books all the time and am fast running out of material. Thought I would give The Host a go.

What is it like? Is it any good?

Hello Carolyn

I haven't read The Host, but I have been told to by a very reliable source. I am not yet convinced tho. I will send my source to answer your question :D

There are a few of us who love reading around here.. if you ever need any suggestions, just yell out
Hi, ok apparantly im the reliable source. So I just finished the host this week. Initially I didnt think it would interest me but alot of friends on here highly reccomended it so I finally picked it up. Its REALLY good. One of my faves now. The thing with it though is it takes a bit to get into it. The first 5 or 7 chapters are a tad boring while it explains everything, after that it just gets better and better.

If you want other book suggestions I could throw plenty your way :)

I also never really read before twilight and am now a book nut. My to read pile currently stands at 23 which is frightening but in a good way.
Hi Carolyn

I'm here to back up the reliable source. LOL !!!

Everything said here is true. It is a very hard book to get into, but extrememly interesting and a great story.
DEFINATELY on my top 10 list.
touche!!!
I read it and found that it was one of the most innovative sci-fi books I had read for a while ... admittedly I dont read that many of this genre, but my partner who reads a lot of scifi also admitted that it was good. Yes, it did take a bit to get into, but after the initial few chapters it was difficult to put down.
Hi Carolyn,

I first attempted to read The Host mid last year while still in my absolutely obsessed Twilight phase - I managed 10 pages before I had to put it down and re-read all the Twilight books - again - several times over.
It actually took me another 6 months of re-reading the Twilight saga (I mentioned obsessed right??!?!) before I "got sick" of them and wanted something new. I then tried The Host .... and absolutely loved it. I've read it 8 or 9 times since December (still rotating it with Twilight), and am now just wondering what other books Stephanie has that I might be able to read.
The Host is a different idea to Twilight, but is well worth the read - still a love story (Stephanie must be a died in the wool romantic at heart - bless her!!).

Persistance is the key with this one, because it takes a couple of chapters to realise what the story is/is going to be about.

They are the only books Stephanie has written but she does have reccomendations on her website of books she likes. One she reccomends is the hunger games which is a trilogy. I am about to start it but alot of friends really love it.
I loved!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Hunger Games...Brilliant.....simply Brilliant....
totally agreed, just wish the last in the series was out already!
Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your advice. I have ordered it from my favourite online bookstore and now am just waiting for it to arrive.
If anyone is looking at ordering some books really cheap, then try bookdepository.com as they have some really cheap books and no delivery fee. This is the US site as they are a bit cheaper than the UK one, but the books still come from UK.

I started re-reading Twilight at work today as I am really bored at the moment. Have the book sitting in front of my keyboard with a piece of paper covering it if anyone comes into my office. Lets see how far I get before getting caught!
Oh, the US is cheaper than the UK?

Interesting, we all use the UK one here
ooh will have to check the US one out then
