The Twilight Saga

Before Bella jumped off the cliff in New Moon we know that Edward was going to come back "just to check on her".

1. How do you think Edward would handle smelling a werewolf on Bella? (Edward promised she would never see him again, is this "cause" to break that promise)
2. Do you still think that Edward could "walk away" if he knew that Bella was "involved" with a werewolf? (Would it matter if it is a friendship involvement or a romantic involvement?)
--  If he walks away, does he walk away without her ever knowing that he was there?

3. How do you think that Jacob would react to smelling a vampire "near by", with two situations.
a) He would not know it was Edward (because Jacob has never smelled Edward with his "wolf" nose) but just a random vampire.
b) Just for argument, how do you think it would change if Jacob knew it was Edward he was smelling.

** Let me clarify on Bella's side.  She does not know Edward is "around".  I pictured Edward's "visit" probably be in in the middle of the night while she is sleeping.   But he would still be able to smell werewolf on her clothes, and if he happen to be in her house (like when they did homework) then Edward would be able to smell him around the place.

1. I personally think that he would not have liked it, he think's they are disgusting to begin with. I even think his jealousy would flare up with a little disgust look on his face. To him werewolves were dangerous and he has alway's thought of her safety. he would not have handled it badly, he has alway's had a great amount of self control like in eclipse when she ran off the first time to go to lapush to see him and he was waiting for her in her bedroom he still was mad but kept self control and put his arm's around her he did wrinkle his nose and say she smelled like a dog.2.I personally think that it would be hard for him to walk away, part of him would want to try to fight for her, but his other part would have left (no matter how hard it was for him) as long as he saw her happy he probably would have left her alone but I also feel he would have done that but he probably would have waited in the shadow's sort of speak just to see if it would have worked out between the two. 3a. Jacob never cared for vamp's either I think he would have had a very disgusting look on his face with a little tension in the body ready to fight if needed be. b.I just feel that he would have had a look on his face similar to edward's, disgusting, pissed but really there would not have been alot he could have done about it. That is my opinion on the whole thing but I might have something else later on to add maybe. very good questions.

I very much agree that Edward would not like it at all. However I just can't wrap my brain around exactly what he would do. Would he wake her up in the middle of the night to "confront her" about her friend? Become even more obsessive in watching what she does or where she goes? But it is not like he can go to La Push, he would have to wait for her to get back. That would be such emotionally awful for him (might actually give the guy a heart attack, which we know is hard to do)

Does he walk away without her ever knowing that he was there? .
Sara - How do you think he could tell if it were romantic or just friendship (Edward can't go to La Push)? Do you think he would have the patience to just keep "lurking" to try and figure that out?

Let me see if I understand your assessment, if it were romantic then Edward would leave again with Bella not knowing he was there, but if it were friendship then Edward would open the door back open to her life and see if she will take him back.
1. I think Edward would have overreacted asusual because as he is a Vampire & enemy of the Werewolves & as far as he is concern, he would think that werewolf will harm Bella as they are unstable, so he would have made his presence known & tried to make Bella stop seeing Jacob ( Just like in Eclipse), because - for Edward, Bella's safety is much more important than anything else.

2. Nope, he would not have been able to leave her again, even if Jacob is present in her life or not(whichever way, just friends or romantically). Again, to make sure she is safe, he would have stayed.

3. a) At first Jacob would have been anxious, cause he never knew how Edward smell's ( Like in New Moon, he didn't know it was Alice). He would have been very protective of Bella.
3. b) But, afterwards when he became aware of Edward's presence & identity, he would have tried to convince Bella to stay away from him or confront Edward himself.

That's funny "Wolf-Nose". ;-)
Wonderful assessment, tend to agree.
1. Personally, from what I know about Edward from this series, I think he would wait for a complete explanation from Bella even before he let her know that he knew about her being in a 'relationship' with a werewolf, if you know what I mean. And as for Bella, I think she would have told Edward herself about her 'friendship' with Jacob. Anyway, though he'd obviously over-react about the danger she probably placed herself in, I highly doubt he'd wait for her explanation, myself! Well, to be frank I can't really imagine how he'd react. Maybe it would be in a fairly good way according to him.

2. Oh I think he would. He's such a gentleman. But as he once mentions in Eclipse, he'd be waiting at the corners, for sure, if Jacob were to imprint on someother girl and leave Bella to the wind! But it being Bella, I think she wouldn't let that happen. Edward would definitely listen to whatever Bella has to tell him. Edward would understand. Atleast, that's what I would like to happen if such a situation were to arise.

3. a) Jacob would definitely over-react like hell if he were to smell a vampire. He's as over-protective about Bella as Edward. We know that already from New Moon, where he smells a vampire at Bella's place, without knowing it was one of the Cullens

b) Not that I'm against Jacob ( ofcourse I was, until he imprinted on Nessie in BD ), but I think he would never ever let Bella know it's Edward, that is, if Edward were to not reveal himself to Bella that he's back. Jacob's kinda cunning in his own way! I don't know if he comesunder the category of 'selfish' exactly, but that's what I'd think he'd do! He brings out that character of his personality at the ending of Eclipse.

This is all based on what I learnt about the characters from the series. Maybe I'm wrong or maybe, just maybe,I'm right, but surely, this is how I'd love for them to happen, situations I mean.

Yeah I know I'm a girl-from-Team-Edward-who-doesn't-exactly-hate-Jacob-but-who-doesn't-like-him-either :D.
1. How do you think Edward will get that explanation? Does he wake her up in the middle of the night to ask her about it?
2. Do you think he would leave before talking to Bella (with her not knowing he was ever there)?

3. I agree, I think that Jacob would freak out, especially if the vampire smell is in her bedroom. Do you think Jacob would wonder why this "mysterious" vampire hasn't already killed Bella? If Bella knows that the vampire came in through her window, do you think she would figure out it was Edward?

4. I absolutely agree with you. If Bella didn't know that it was Edward, Jacob would NEVER tell her (at least not on purpose he sort of has a big mouth and often shots himself in the foot). I think that Jacob would use the same "for your protection" excuse, because he knows how much Edward leaving hurt Bella, but everyone knows it would just be jealousy. Jacob might be able to compete with the "memory" of Edward, but he can't compete against the "real thing".

"from-Team-Edward-who-doesn't-exactly-hate-Jacob-but-who-doesn't-like-him-either :D." -- I think that this team has a much larger member registration then you might think. Thank you so much for you ideas, that were great.
1. I don't think he would have wake her up in the middle of the night for an explanation, even if that is the most important discussion they would ever have. As Edward is always worried about Bella's health & her wellbeing, he wouldn't do such a thing.

2. Nope, he just couldn't leave her one more time. It was painful for him too, leaving her first time only. In books he explains her that, he was all set to come back & crawl to her - begging her to take him back, so I don't think when he actually comes back, he would have left her again & with Jacob, the Werewolf, not her best friend, is present in scene he definitely wouldn't have left.

If Jacob wouldn't been a Werewolf, he was just an ordinary human boy who was her best friend, then I am sure Edward wouldn't have interfere, because then he would think that she is just moving on, just like he was hoping for.
But as Jacob is Werewolf, that give Edward reason to stay, he couldn't just see Bella moving on with a Werewolf, as they are mortal enemy. Edward might be a 100 years old Vampire, but he is eternally 17 year teenager, normally a teenager can't tolerate that their rivals get their ex-girlfriend.(Okay, don't fry me up, for that opinion, I am talking from my experience).

3. Jacob definitely would have freak out if he smells unidentified Edward's smell, as he doesn't know any better.

Bella, if she knew about Vampire coming to her bedroom, she would have hope it was Edward, but if she didn't get the proof of his identity, she would have been crushed, as she was already believed she was going nuts, cause she can hear Edward whenever she is in danger.

4. I absolutely agree with you all about Jacob's jealousy, but he would have told her. I mean if Edward was hiding from her, then Jacob would have rattled him out to her, just to prove that Edward doesn't care & Bella should move on.
But in my opinion it wouldn't have worked, we all know how stubborn Bella is!!!!
Ok, now that you clarified about his probable "night time visit", let me answer you questions now.

1. Well, there's not the slightest chance that Edward would wake up Bella, that is totally against what we already know. Alright, but not to prolong that point and to be precise about your question, I imagine his getting explained about Bella's involvement with a werewolf is out of question. I mean I argue with myself with the comment I posted. He will never ever get an explanation from Bella unless and until he shows herself to her. If he does, then he has to explain himself about his hasty departure and then wait for Bella to give her explanation. There's more chance that he'd over-react and as one reader already posted, he'd seriously react hell more than Alice did. Supposing he did show himself to Bella, then I have to mention that he'd be checking on her quite frequently and never be near the house when Bella's with Jacob at her house. I know this is highly confusing now so let me make it short - No, he'd not wake up Bella and yes, he'll over-react and I don't know if he'd even kill Jacob before he comes to know what really was happening between them. Seriously, I can't answer your question straightly, sorry :(

2. No, I highly doubt he'd leave before Bella explans herself out. I mean if Bella does have more feelings for Jacob than Edward, then she should definitely let Edward know about that. That's the least she could do for him. If Edward were to find out the complete details about Bella's relationship with the werewolf somehow AND also knows about her feelins towards this werewolf, then maybe he would have left Bella. But it's really really hard for him to walk away from her. That's the whole ppoint for his returning to "check" on Bella, right?

3. Yeah, Jake would freak out for sure. Well, sometimes it makes me think that Seth is far better at stuff like thinking out things than Jacob. I mean Jake's really fast to get angry with the Cullens and he doesn't think before his temper builds up, not that it's his mistake. He doesn't let himself think stuff through, when it comes to vampires. IF he does cool down enough to think, there's this chance that he would wonder why this vampire didn't kill Bella. But we don't know if this vamp is one of the Volturi who has strict orders as to not kill the human or it could be one of Victoria's newborns already. He might wonder why Bella wasn't killed already. And yeah, if Bella does know that the vampire came through her window, her first train of thought would be that it could be Edward. But every Cullen who has been to her house comes through her window mostly, like Edward, Alice or Jasper. In NM, she even wonders if Victoria could come through Bella's window for revenge. I don't think she'd "figure out" it was Edward, but there's a chance she's think it 'could' be Edward.

4. Yeah I agree with you on this. Jacob really has a big mouth sometimes! And I guess the major factor about his not mentioning to Bella that it was Edward would be, jealousy. I bet Jacob would never have been able to take the place of Edward in Bella's heart, even if Bella's back to normal and finally falls in love with Jake, taking into point that Edward never came back or never went to Italy or he had already known about Bella's involvement with a wolf and left her for her own good yet again, whatever be the case.

Oh yeah, but many people I came across were mostly Team Jacob guys! I don't know about that but seriously I'll always be Team Edward, not that it matters here.

And yeah, you're welcome and this discussion is really good :)
:) I agree I think Edward would flip out. He is always worried that Bella is going to hurt herself (fall in the ocean) and becoming friends with a werewolf is "so Bella".

I too have a hard time believing that he could leave again. At best, I could see him lurking for a day or two, and if she is consistently safe then it is a big MAYBE that he could leave. But if he left, then I think he would be "checking on her" a lot more often to make sure that she is still safe.
-- Given this scenario do you think it would get easier to leave her or get harder to leave her each time.
I agree, that would really suck. Poor Edward :(
I will agree it will be harder
