She is trying to lie to herself about her feelings for Jake and she is trying to hang on to the memory of Edward. I know that this is incredibly stupid, but that is just how Bella reacted to the situation.

I think she should stop pushing him away because he's a great man but when she's vampire and she wants him, he'll be with another girl and she'll wonder why he's with another girl. Because you pushed him away.
