Twilight Rules & Information
Hello fellow Twilight community members! A few words
regarding our official site and rules of the official Twilight
community.
- Read the rules. They're very important and affect all parts of
the Twilight Community, including the forums, groups and personal
pages. Not reading the rules or knowing the rules will not excuse
violations of the rules.
- Use the search function. Yes, this is part of the rules, but it
is SO important. It will make the forums easier to navigate and
read if you search for a similar subject before posting a new
one.
- Make your post title is related to your post. "LOOK at this
picture of EDWARD!" or "I just read Twilight for the tenth time!"
will be easier on other members than "OMMMMGGGG" or "LOL LOOK AT
THIS"
- How to read the forums. Posts within a thread are in
chronological order from top to bottom. This means that the oldest
post on the page is at the top, and the newest is at the bottom.
The original post is always at the top, above a box to reply to the
thread. Within the different sections, the most recent thread is at
the top, the oldest thread is at the bottom. You can see how long
ago someone responded to the thread by looking on the right side.
It will tell you if someone has responded in the last 30 seconds,
or 15 hours.
- Careful with the CAPS LOCK. If you type in all upper-case
letters, it might come across as shouting. :)
- Have fun. This is a fresh start and a chance at a drama-free
community. Let's keep these forums fun and intact.
RULES
- The fighting, drama, threads that intentionally or
unintentionally create conflict MUST STOP. The initial boards were
removed because fans wouldn't play nice. Our rules are rules that
WILL BE ENFORCED. You risk temp to perm ban if you cannot adhere to
them, no matter WHAT the circumstance. No more warnings. We suggest
you read the rules before posting blogs, comments, posts, replies,
pix, etc.
- Be nice and respectful! Twilight fans come here from all over
to discuss the books that they love, not to be called names. This
community does not discriminate against people of different
backgrounds, religions, etc. If these are topics you would like to
talk about, talk about them somewhere else. Ganging up on specific
members will not be tolerated. Additionally, no one needs to hear
you correct them on proper grammar and spelling. Let’s talk
Twilight, not the difference between affect and effect.
- We read all of your emails. We love them all. Some of them are
of course a bit over the line! We cannot answer everyone, but we
love reading them (well most of them:)
- USE GOOD JUDGMENT. If you have problems, or don't want
problems, be smart - don't leave your phone#, cell#, personal email
address, IM out there for the world to see.
- TheTwilightsaga.com users should be active members in the
community. Therefore to keep the site active and manageable:
a) GROUPS: all groups that have fewer than 50 members or have not
been active for 3 months will be closed.
b) USERS: any memberships inactive for over 6 months may be
deleted. To save your account all you have to do is log in here
[link to homepage].
c) DISCUSSIONS: all discussion threads that have been inactive for
3 weeks or more may be removed.
- TheTwilightSaga.com was designed to be a home all things
Twilight! Discussions and groups related to Twilight or closely
related subjects are strongly encouraged. And while we appreciate
that you are also fans of other things (like the many and varied
works of Aaron Spelling? Seriously?) to keep the site focused and
manageable groups not related in some reasonable way to the
Twilight Saga will be closed.
We hate enforcing rules, but we will not hesitate to do so.
This is a fun SAFE place for ALL fans of creed, color, race,
religion, nationality, with NO discrimination. If you can't get
along, then this isn't the place for you. If you can, GREAT! We'd
love for you to be a part of our wonderful community, which grows
by leaps and bounds daily.
TECHNICAL:
I am getting spammed with emails from the community. How can I
fix this?
Go to "my settings" on the right side of your page (it is below the
"my friends" and "sign out" links). Go to "Email" on the left side.
Uncheck everything that you do not want to receive notifications
for. Also click "clear my follow list" (It's a box with those words
inside). OR, if you do not wish to receive any email notifications,
click the last box, "None, I don't want to receive emails from the
official Twilight community." Make sure you click "Save" before you
leave the page. If you're getting email notifications for every
thread started and discussion, click on the forum tab and at the
bottom of the page click the “stop notifying” link. Then, go to the
top - where you see 'view' and a drop-down box, change the box to
sort the forum by “discussions”. Next, go to the bottom of the page
and click the “stop notifying” link there.
How can I change my display name?
Go to "my settings" on the right side of your page. Click "Account"
on the left side of the page. This will allow you to change things
like your display name, where you live, and it gives you the option
to hide your gender and age. Please note, changing your display
name does not change your account name. Whatever you signed up
with, will remain the same. Only the display name for your personal
page and the forums can be changed. (IE John Smith, display name
Bob, account name will still list John Smith).
How do I add a friend?
Visit the friend's page. Below their picture on the left and their
name, there is a small + sign with "Add as friend". It may take a
bit for them to approve you as a friend, so it may not go through
immediately.
How do I add/change/remove a profile photo?
To change your picture, directly below where your picture would be
(left side of the page), there is a link to click change "My
Photo". (Or you can click "my settings" and make sure you are in
the "account" section). Next to "profile photo" there is a button
with a small green and blue square. Click the button, and it gives
you the option to use an existing photo (from photos you have
uploaded) or upload a picture from your computer. To upload a photo
from your computer, click "browse" and it will open a window to
find the picture on your computer. Once you have found the picture
and clicked the appropriate buttons on that window, click "done".
When you have the picture you want set, make sure you click "save"
or your picture will not be changed to what you want.
"MY PAGE":
How can I change the "about me" section?
To change the About Me section that appears on your page, it is in
a box. By default, it is directly below your activities (comments
you’ve made, or have been made on your page, forum activity, etc).
To change this section, click the edit button on the top right of
this section. A text window will appear and you can add text,
photos, links or html code. To save the contents of this section,
there is a “save” button at the bottom of the section. Some folks
have tried to change this section by going to the “about me”
section in my settings. That will have no affect on the written
content of your page. You can also change the title 'My page' to
something different...hover over the text until it changes color
then click on it. Change the text to what you want then click
'save'.
Can I make my page private like a myspace page, where only
friends can see anything?
While this community is similar to myspace in that fans can have
their own personal pages to connect with friends, it is different
in that it is not completely private. Certain things on your page
can be set to private, viewable only by you or your friends. Going
into “my settings” you can click the privacy tab and decide how you
want your page to be set up for privacy. This affects photos, blogs
and videos. Although that will save your default settings, when you
upload or create each photo, blog or video, individual settings can
be saved to make it private or public. You can hide your activities
in the privacy tab as well. What will be public is the comment
wall. So anything you or your friends put on the comment wall is
viewable by anyone. You can choose, in the privacy settings, to
approve/deny each comment before it is posted, or you can allow
them to be posted immediately without approval. You can remove
comments posted on your page or that you post on someone else’s
page.
I saw my pictures in the general photo section. My settings are
private. Help!
Pictures that you upload, if your settings are saved that only you
or your friends can view it, can be seen in the general photo
section because you (or your friends) have “permission” to see
them. Non-friends will not be able to see private photos of yours
in the general section. The same goes for videos. If they are
public, however, anyone will be able to view them.
How do I add a blog?
To add a blog, you can do one of two things. First, you can click
the drop-down menu on the top right side of your page, just below
the link for your friends and the sign out link. You can quickly
add photos, videos, blogs or forum discussions there. Second, on
your page, in the blog section, there is a link to add a new blog
(there is a small green plus sign beside the link). Click that and
add your blog. Make sure to click “save” when you are finished.
How do I comment on someone's page?
To comment on someone’s page, you can do one of two things. If they
have commented to you first, you can click “comment back” and it
will take you to their page so you can comment. You can also click
on a person’s picture to go to their page and add a comment that
way. Make sure to “add comment” when you are finished or the
comment will not appear on their wall.
How do I add a picture to a blog/post/comment?
To add a picture to a blog, post or comment, at the top of the text
window you can type in, there is a small blue and green square.
Click on this and it will open another window where you can put in
a link to a picture or browse your own computer to add a
picture.
How do I change how my page looks?
To change the way your page looks, directly below your profile
picture on your page, you will see “Change my photo or theme.”
Click “theme” and it will walk you through the steps for a pre-made
page theme. If you have a code you would like to add from somewhere
else, you can click the advanced tab and make the changes there.
Make sure you click “save” when you are finished or your page will
not be changed.
FORUM:
I can't find my post. Where has it gone?
There are several reasons why a post may not be where you
originally put it. The first, and most common reason is that it was
a duplicate post, meaning a thread was created already by someone
else on the exact same topic and the moderators removed yours
because of this. Make sure to use the “search” function at the top
of the forums before making a post. Just taking an extra few
moments to see if someone else has created a thread, will not only
save time for the moderators, but it will save you the confusion
when you wonder where your post went. The second most common reason
for a post not being where you left it is that it was posted in the
wrong section. For example, you want to find other members going to
the same concert as you. If you post it in the “General” section,
more than likely it will get moved to the “Twilight” section. You
can always click on “my discussions” at the top of the page to find
the most recent posts you have made. The third reason why your post
may be missing is that it violated the rules. Please take a moment
to read the rules. If you haven’t read the rules, it won’t save
your post from being deleted. The rules apply to the entire
community, including personal pages, groups and the forums. We want
everyone to have fun, but the community is owned by the official
Twilight community and violation of the rules will result in the
administrators taking appropriate action (including warnings,
deleted content, a temporary or permanent ban).
How can I change my Avatar?
Your avatar for the forums is the same as the profile picture on
your personal page. So to change it, follow the directions of
changing your profile picture: To change your picture, directly
below where your picture would be (left side of the page), there is
a link to click change "My Photo". (Or you can click "my settings"
and make sure you are in the "account" section). Next to "profile
photo" there is a button with a small green and blue square. Click
the button, and it gives you the option to use an existing photo
(from photos you have uploaded) or upload a picture from your
computer. To upload a photo from your computer, click "browse" and
it will open a window to find the picture on your computer. Once
you have found the picture and clicked the appropriate buttons on
that window, click "done". When you have the picture you want set,
make sure you click "save" or your picture will not be changed to
what you want.
Can I have a Signature?
Unfortunately, we do not have the option to save a signature that
automatically displays with each post you make. You can do it
manually, if you wish. It just takes more time (and being able to
remember to do it, hehe).
OTHER:
My question isn't answered here. Who can I contact if I have a
question or a problem?
Click “Report Issue” at the bottom of the page and you can send
your questions/comments/concerns to the moderators. If you wish to
report a specific page, it is easiest to be on the page you are
having problems with, that way the link is sent directly to the
moderators.
