Abilities:

Physical:

  • The most common ability for any Nykterída to possess
  • They range from physical strength, speed, stamina, endurance, or anything else involving their physical bodies
  • Said to have the most intense power during bloodlusts
  • An average Nykterída has strength almost on par with the weakest link of a Lykánthro̱pos pack, the omega
  • Compared to humans, a Nykterída weak link is about two times stronger than a human strong man
  • Women that possess physical strength are seen more commonly in their armies and spy services, simply because they are stronger and more stealthier than their male counterparts.

Mental:

  • Almost as common as physical strength
  • Range from telekinesis, concilium (compulsion, mind control) mind reading, pyrokinesis, mediumship, precognition destiny, omni-linguism, & creating weapons from psychic energy
  • Most dangerous of all the Nykterída, can manipulate their victims to believe and do whatever they please with little resistance
  • These Nykterída are usually physically weak, so it is common to see them banding with others that compensate for this weakness
  • When using concilium, the user's pupils dilate, causing for their eyes to become all black. Their victim's eyes become white with a thick, black ring around the outside of their eye during serious and long term cases. When it's to influence an action or decision, their eyes only glaze over

Biological:

  • Less commonly seen compared to physical and mental abilities
  • Range from the user shapeshifting to another creature, arthrokinesis, sacrificial healing, biokinesis and so on.
  • Most users in this sub-unit can shapeshift into a specific creature, whether it be a bat, wolf, dragon, lion, etc. It is said to be their spirit animal. The creature they can shift into does not have to be a set species, it is whatever is genetically coded in their DNA
  • When shapeshifted, it is easy to tell they are originally Nykterída by their eyes. Most of them have yellow or gold eyes as their respected creature. Few have red or gray.

Psychological:

  • The least common ability seen or used among the Nykterída
  • Ranges from hallucination giving, memory manipulation, empathy (feeling and mimicking emotions), psychic shadowing/shading, pain inducement, & psychometry
  • Easily confused with mental abilites, psychological ones deal more so with the actual victims rather than the users themselves.
  • More physically draining, tend to have to rest for long periods of time after using these abilities for a while

Standard Vampires:

  • Height & weight is on average with the humans but slightly taller and larger
  • Heightened senses, much better than humans
  • Most specialized in one ability set (physical strength, mental abilities, psychological warfare, biological advantages, etc) and hone in/train on these abilities in covens. Females are more commonly seen to develop one skill set throughout their lifetime and tend to be much stronger in this said ability than their male counterparts. The men usually are more well rounded in abilities but are slightly weaker preforming them.
  • Reproduce via bite & from contact with bodily fluids (blood, etc). They have venoms that are produced and stored in special glands in their faces. This is what kills their prey or turns them into a Nykterída, depending on how their body reacts to the venom. Fledgings have a lack of control of their toxins and involuntarily release them when feeding, resulting in an excessive amount of killing. As they age, their control over themselves gets better and things like this are easier to control.
  • Undead creatures
  • Sterile and cannot sexually reproduce (Exceptions by age of said vampire) Newly turned Nykterída can still produce since their internal bodies have not fully shut down yet but after a few years, the possibility of having children is out of the picture.
  • Pupils dilate, making their eyes all black when experiencing anger, sorrow, excitement, or during a bloodlust. They dilate when using mental, psychological, or biological abilities as well (brainwashing, mind reading, teleporting, making one hallucinate, telekinesis, etc)
  • Bloodlusts to these vampires are considered something reached when there is an insatiable hunger for blood or violence. They usually occur from the sight of blood if the said vampire has not fed for a while or when the idea or actions of violence are mentioned. They are said to be both their strongest and weakest at this stage. Using raw emotions and strength, as well as being driven by an unstoppable rage; they are able to reach powers beyond their comprehension. This also leads to vulnerability and exposure of their weaknesses, such as inaccuracies in their attacking methods or the lack of thinking one's actions out correctly. Bloodlust was how many of these vampires arose to the top among the rest and preserved their dominance.
  • Are much more savagely and dangerous when experiencing a bloodlust than altered creatures
  • During bloodlust, a Nykterída is unable to use their larynx in order to speak. Instead, they resort to grunting, moaning, screaming, crying, howling, and hissing when they need to communicate with one another. This is because during this period, all energy is required for the vampire to use so 'optional' things, such as speaking, thinking, or rationalizing are not available. This state is their pure state, the beastly state that their ancestors once were always like. Within time, they evolved and became more sophisticated with their own ways of society. When they try to speak, it sounds like some old, forgotten language.
  • Are more emotionally and physically stable than their altered counterparts
  • Release blood when crying, sweating, etc due to the lack of available water in their bodies
  • Cannot go out into the sunlight and live forever
  • Can be killed by the old fashion way: something piercing through the heart, decapitation & catching on fire
  • Are not affected by old fashion crosses, garlic, having to be invited in, etc
  • Have no reflection in the mirror and their fangs are hidden in slits in the roof of their mouths (retractable)
  • Are usually very attractive, hauntingly at times

Altered Vampires:

  • Are much taller and usually leaner than other vampires due to the lack of blood received while being tested
  • Heightened senses, much better and keener than other vampires
  • All develop special abilities due to testing, given much favorable genes. All can morph into large, hideous bat/human like creatures as well at their own free will.
  • Unable to reproduce at all unless they were used to find human vaccines (genes altered to be more human like)
  • More alive than regular vampires (working circulatory system) If human like enough, they can eat human foods but cannot survive off of them.
  • Sterile as well but depending on what they were used for they, they may be able to reproduce
  • Irises and pupils fade when angry, sad, excited, or during bloodlusts, making their eyes white. Normally, altered vampires have lighter eyes than regular ones (primarily blues, grays, and light greens) due to having their more valuable recessive genes being used.
  • Emotionally and physically unstable due to their testing conditions
  • Are less dangerous during a bloodlust because they are using all of their strength all the time. Going into this state makes them put more strength and effort than what they usually give. Sometimes altered vampires are more weak in this state because of this
  • Release blood when crying, sweating, etc due to the lack of water in their bodies
  • Depending on how human like the alterations are, they could go out into sunlight but for briefs amounts of time. Still live forever
  • Can be killed the same way as regular vampires
  • Are also not affected by the things regular vampires aren't affected by
  • Depending on the human like mutations/genes, they could possibly view themselves in the mirror. Their fangs hid in their mouths the same way
  • Just as attractive as regular vampires
