The card for my little sister's 12th birthday!
We have a family tradition where every birthday and mothers/fathers day we give home made cards. After 12 years you run out of ideas.... So I roped the computer in for this one!
No photoshop. No available program what-so-ever other than paint so I thought "stuff it" and printed out a bunch of stuff to cut and paste the old fashioned way (for those too young to understand this involves scissors and glue, lol). The idea came from something that came up on Google images where someone had crudly scribbled a cake and some hats on them.
I added the ribbon and bits and copied the writing by hand. The ribbon sticks off the top but I cropped it here...
ok, that's all the details I can add... I just thought it might inspire some other people. I know I was getting desperate until I came up with the idea!
Thank goodness she's a Twilight fan!

Because sometimes your cold ... but you still need to use your hands!

okay so... I suffer from the cold a lot and wear a lot of gloves. I loved the look of Bella's mits on the film... But when on earth would I ever wear something that bulky and where you can't use your hands?!... And I couldn't work out how to do finger and thumb bits without getting a head-aache so I scrapped those bits (both for that reason and to keep some dexterity available in the height of winter) and kind of came up with my own version.

Okay, so technically they're not "mittens" but handwarmers... buuuuut Bella's mits were my inspiration. And they are warm and practical (Bella would approve!). They are a beautiful La Push ocean greeny-blue (my interpretation, that is!...) but they could be done a dark blue for Edward fans (his favorite colour on Bella) or a Volterra red maybe? They are nice and warm (reference to our favorite pack members!) and home made (nod to Jacob). And they are simple (so you don't have to have the dexterity and speed of a vampire to finish them in a week just by picking them and doing a bit up here and there)
They are as I just said really easy to make (it was my first attempt at making the wavy pattern called cable stitch and ...success!) with more or less straight knitting except I increased a couple of stitches on the width as I got to thumb height. I probably should have decreased again after to make them nice and snug around the fingers ( they are a bit loose there). But as a first attempt I am going to rate them a success as they are very wearable -- or should I say I am going to wear them!
Uhh what do you think?...
I will put the pattern up here soon, just in case anyone is interested.... Let me know if you are, because then I'll hurry!
