My Hero, My Friend-*-By: Edna May Brunk
Who is my hero, you ask,
Does he wear a mask?
No, he is my dearest friend
My love for him will never end
Though he is three hours away
Soon will be the day
Where gentle hands will hold me when I’m crying
Turn to steal when we are hunting
My hero is very strong
But this separation is wrong
Once a songwriter
Now a grown fighter
Though his memories will someday go past
My love for him will always last
Soon I know he will have to go away
But in my heart he’ll always stay
Hiding my pain from all who ask
If only you could see beyond the mask
By my side I wish
Life is just a sad dish
You ask, who is this dearest friend
With your love that will never end
He is like no other
For he is my father
And through rain or shine
I’ll always be daddy’s little Sunshine
