i hope this explains the part that you didn't understand:
well Melanie and Dawn were talking and when they got up to leave, Thomas accidentally opened the door in Dawn's face causing her to fall down the stairs. she twisted her ankle and was bleeding. Tristan comes in too help and takes control of the situation because Melanie fainted. Thomas carries Melanie to the school nurse, while Tristan carries Dawn. On the way Thomas is irritated with Tristan for liking Dawn (he thinks like a sister) more than he does his own sister, and that he has (probably) gotten to see Dawn in her times of weakness and strenght...does that help?
