Karen you hit the exact point which drives me nuts. For 15 years in the ER I cared for "HOMELESS PEOPLE" We had a free home shelter program that EVERY SINGLE one of them was offered to stay at, for as long as they wanted. MAYBE one in a thousand would go there. Their problem wasn't homelessness it was mental illness and drug abuse. (At least 95%) By calling their problem homelessness it allowed society not to have to face the real problem. You make a great point. I am so sorry you had to go through what you did. And so proud of you, that you had the strength and courage to get away. It use to break my heart, and make me furious, to look down on the broken face of a girl whose face I had previously rebuilt, after being injured by the same bum only months earlier. Thank you for sharing with us. It takes courage to share problems we have faced. But the only way we can realy grow is to share with people we trust. Doc
