- Hi! In response to your question, I agree with you, its Edwards absolute devotion to Bella. I don't think the movie showed it as much as the book did. He would do anything to make her happy, and what girl/woman wouldn't love to have someone like that! I think my problem with Jacob is that he is not as selfless as Edward. He wants Bella to be happy, but he doesn't try to understand why she needs Edward.
