Here is a story my 12 yr old daughter wrote. I just wanted to share it because I'm a proud mom, but didn't know where I could put it. So here it is:
The Dream
Young, thirteen-year-old, Elizabeth Nelson stepped out of her large, wooden home, relieved that she was finally finished with her morning chores. She drew in a deep breath of the crisp, morning air as she walked toward the stable to get her little, black pony. She led the horse outside and brushed it until its coat was gleaming under the golden sun. Elizabeth
mounted the young pony, grabbed its glistening mane and kicked the pony
to make it go. At first the ride was bumpy and rough then it all smoothed out.
Elizabeth laughed and shouted as she and the pony sailed across the wide, grassy prairie that never seemed to end. Her long brown hair blew in the wind as well as the pony's sleek black mane and tail. Elizabeth felt as if she was free as a bird flying in the great open sky. After an hour or two, she and the pony were heading back home.
Elizabeth heard her mother calling her in for noon chores so that they could get ready for lunch. As she was drawing nearer to her mother's voice,
it became so loud that it was like shouting in her ears. It was because of this that she woke up. She was in her bed, the pony was gone, and she could hear her mother's voice calling her for breakfast. Young Elizabeth Nelson looked around her room and realized it was all just a dream.
