Jacob and Bella...?

Hi guys.... so, i was thinking...what would happen if Bella and Alice didn't get to Volterra in time to save Edward from the Volturi? Or if Bella gave into Jacob's life-long crush while Edward disappeared? In my perspective, that would make the saga much better. Maybe Edward would return while Bella and Jacob were in love? What would happen?

JACOB- Chapter 1
There they were- standing only ten feet away from me, both their eyes fixed on their kill, an antelope prancing in the clearing. I cleared my throat a few times, and Edward turned around with a smirk on that disgusting, flawless face. I still couldn't get over the fact that he stole her....my Bella. Bella flung her head around, her beautiful brown hair blown in the wind.

P.S. I passed book 2 and i'm on chapter... i think 22 or something of book 3 i read back stage at the recital which was like ALL day! but u know how i get distracted
