Five Things Everyone Should Know About You?
Isabella Marie Swan
Isabella Marie "just 'Bella' " Swan is a seventeen-year-old high school junior, the daughter of Chief of Police, Charlie Swan of Forks, Washington, and Renée Dwyer of Phoenix, Arizona, where Bella did most of her growing up, after her parents' divorce, which occurred while she was still quite young (they being still relatively quite young as well). Bella is very fair-skinned with dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes and a heart-shaped face, giving her a wide forehead, large, wide-spaced, doe-like eyes, and prominent cheekbones. She is 5'4' and weighs 110 pounds, but is not muscular. She does not think of herself as beautiful, but she appears to be among the very few to harbor this opinion. Although Bella attributes most of her own parenting to Renée (mostly bandaging), all three are quite aware that Bella was more of a parent to Renée, than a daughter, finding ways to help Renée cope with life, much more often than most children could ever need to, including (according to the book), but not limited to finding ways to comfort Renée, when Renée's relationships with men would falter.
When Renée finally meets Phil, a minor league baseball player, whom Bella considers to be a very good match, and when Phil's profession takes him to play for a team in Jacksonville, Florida, and when Renée wants to be with Phil as much as possible, which would include not only an overall relocation to Jacksonville, but also a lot of long-haul road trips, Bella decides to give her mom the best chance of doing just that, by deciding to go live with her father, Charlie, in Forks, Washington, instead.
This, however, is by no means what she might consider to be a picnic, because among her reasons for not actually visiting Charlie for an unspecified number of years, is Bella's great disdain for anything cold, and especially anything cold and wet, which is indeed unfortunate, because Forks is renowned as being perhaps the rainiest, and most overcast city in the contiguous United States (of America), and since their winters include no small amount of snow, it's quite a bit colder than she's become accustomed to, having grown up mostly in Arizona.
But, Bella loves her mom, and she loves her dad, and she even loves her new stepfather, so due more to her undying selflessness than anything else, away to Forks she goes....
