I believe that there is something there, something special with your first love that never goes away. I think if you read through all newmoon, eclipse and breaking dawn there is a underline when she speaks about Jacob and has conversations with Jacob that there is something that is lacking with him than Edward. Its like getting a sundae but its missing the whip cream and Edward has it. Jacob is a long time family friend of the family and is her bestfriend and she relied on him during a difficult time, and he is cute and I think when in book 3 they had that battle with the new borns she got confused with her emotions and with help of jacob playin with her emotions, she got caught up in it all. Right after she kissed him she regreated it. Besides it would NEVER happen with Bella b/c of the imprinting which should of happened it was meant to be.
