My Adventures Begin

In order to tell my Yosemite stories properly, I need to take you back to the beginning of it all, when my family moved from where we lived in Northern California. We talked our parents into a two day Disneyland blow-out as the main condition for letting them move us so far away from home to the foreign country of Southern California. How Smart Are They?

At Emeric Lake, we had an amazing bear encounter. As usual on our backpacking trips, one of the first things we did was to make a (hopefully) bear proof pantry. That meant getting a rope over a tree limb, and tying a couple of backpacks to it. That evening the backpacks were loaded with anything a bear might think was tasty. Look Who's Scary Now

One time we had scary encounter, but this one wasn't with bears. We were staying in the campground at Glacier Point, intending to hike across Illilouette Falls to Little Yosemite Valley the next day. That evening a park ranger came around to tell campers that bears were coming into the campground at night. He told us that bears can get into anything, even locked cars. How hard do you think…
