The Twilight Saga

April 21, 2009

There are a lot of things I should be doing updates on—for example, how awesome and successful the Book Babe event was, and how cool it was to meet all the other authors and hang out with them a little bit, and how much I appreciated all the tremendous support from the fans—but instead of commenting on happy things (which I admit I should have done a week ago; I was waiting for things to slow down for a day, silly me!), I’m commenting on ridiculous internet rumors so that my publicist’s day will be just a little bit better.

I am not being sued. No one has contacted me or my publisher to inform either of us that I’m being sued. I never had a roommate named Heidi. There is no professor in the BYU English department named Dr. Peter Benton (though there is a character on ER by that name). And most of all, I began writing Twilight exactly the way I’ve told people in countless interviews and events for the past six years: I had a cool dream, I wrote it down, writing it down was really fun, so I kept writing until I had a whole book.

The sad thing about this silly situation is that so many legitimate news outlets reported it without doing any research at all to determine if there was any truth to the story. And at least two of these facts are really, really easy to confirm. Particularly, the one about the BYU professor. A simple on-line search can give you that information. Also, a quick call to my publisher would have cleared up the whole lawsuit story. (Kudos to the fansites who did their due diligence and debunked this rumor days ago.)

I guess the moral of the story is that—big surprise—you can’t believe everything you read on the internet. Seems like it’s April Fool’s Day every day on-line. So no worries, the filming of New Moon continues uninterrupted. And, to end this on a bright note, the filming of New Moon continues to be awesome. It’s all so beautiful! Chris Weitz is brilliant. Kristen, Rob, and Taylor are beyond words. I have gotten choked up more than once on set due to their amazing performances. I can’t wait to see it all put together!

I really hope that you continue the Twilight Saga. There was too much left unsaid. I want to see Renesmee grow up, and see where her relationship with Jacob goes. Not too mention there is so much that can continue with Bella and Edward. Hope to see more books and looking forward to seeing ALL the upcoming movies. I simply just can't wait. :D

Kudos for you Stephenie!! Seems like the press is trying to scrape up stories about you as much as they are the cast!!! I did not believe it when I first read about it--I rarely believe anything I read about Twilight anymore unless it's a videotaped interview!! I suppose this is the downside to such massive success. I am hoping you find time to either complete another book (ahem...hint hint!!) or something entirely different--you are extremely talented and I look forward to whatever your next publication may be!!!

stephenie like u i am a mormon and im proud to be one. i think that u are the most creative, artistic, and imaginative writer i've ever known. the weird part is, im so much like Bella except my hair is not as long as hers, though. after i finished reading Breaking Dawn, i started to cry because i was finished with the book and i know that i will never find another book series as good as the one you wrote. i also read ur book The Host, and i love it!!! i just want to ask one thing though. i know im 17 and i can wait awhile, but r u going to publlish Midnight Sun?

Stehenie, you are the total best writer ever. I read the whole saga and i usually read the book twice so i can understand it. and what i really want to say is you should do another book because a lot of questions are unanswered. Like what happens to Nahuel, Renesmee, J. jenks, Jacob. It's so much more. A girl on this website and i have to find her she started writing endless midnight. I think it was great! Maybe you could use that. But please write more!!!!!!!!!!

I first saw the movie Twilight, and thought it was great. Then I read the book and it was amazing! I read the whole saga over March break! I have never in my life spent my breaks reading. (btw, I am 25 years old and it was my sons march break. He was spending time with Grandma.)I really hope you continue the saga. I've actually started to enjoy reading...all because of your books. If not... i'm sure I will enjoy other books by you. But I think i'm in love with Twilight!

Stephanie, yesterday I finshed book Breaking Dawn. I have read the whole series in 4 days. I am 32yrs old and haven't been wrapped in books in a longtime. You are a very talented lady. From the first chapter to the last, I have been in trance. The characters and the stories are amazing. I am sure my family will be glad when I get over this ( I won't LOL) it is all I have been talking about. I would hope you could in some way continue the Saga, because as I can see, I am not the only one who is hooked. Thank you for giving me so much to look forward too.

Stephanie, I have looked my whole life for an author that could capture my attention and sweep me off to another world. Being a mother of three and going back to school at 33 is very tiring (to say the least. :)) I read the Twilight series in a week. My love for the characters was amazing!! I was apart of Bella's world for a moment in time. I was heart broken with tears that did not stop at times and filled with love that I could only dream of. The series brought passion back to my marriage and it gave me a new look at life. You did not just write about a dream you had, you took us into the deepest parts of your heart and I praise you for the gift that God has bestowed upon you. The funny part of this is that when I was finished reading the series I was going through with drawls. haha. I could not stop thinking about the characters. I read The Host and was greatful that it filled the void that I felt when I was done with Twilight. I have many friends and they too felt the same way I do. I am looking forward to all of your future work. I am excited to see the new movie in November. I do have to say that I too would greatly and thoroughly enjoy it if you finished the series on Edwards perspective!!! It is more than interesting to say the least. I know that series would be a HIT!!!! All of my friends and I would buy the whole series and set it next to the beatiful work of art that you have all ready created, named Twilight!!!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!
