Chapter 4 Leah's Missing.

CHAPTER 4 Leah's missing :
When we got back,Seth left and went back to Leah.I sat in the yard with Renesme while we waited for them to come back when Bella's cell phone,that she had left with me,rang.I answered it.Seth was in panic on the other end."Jacob.Leah! She's gone! Quil said they were on patrol because she didn't want to wait for you.A new bloodsucker came through and she took off.She never came back so Quil was forced to come back.Quick!" Before he finished the Cullen's came out of the woods.I laid the sleeping Renesme on the grass and stood up with the phone.
"Seth.Calm down.One sec they are back." I muttered walking toward the Cullen's.Edward heard what I said and suddenly appeared in front of me."Crap." I whispered when I froze in place.
"Whats wrong with Seth?" He asked ignoring my annoyance.I sighed.
"Leah's missing and he's freaking." I muttered again.Seth was still listening,and still in shear terror.Edward held out his hand.
"Let me speak to him." He demanded in a tone that made me drop the phone in his hand before telling Seth we'd switched.Edward immedeatly had it at his ear in half-a-second.
"Seth.What happened?" He said calm but deep in concern.I watched and listened to Seth's thoughts and the conversation from Edward's end.
"Okay Seth.. Don't panic.... Okay.We'll look...Yes I'll tell Carlisle...... Look out for her from there alright?... Okay bye." He hung up and looked at me worried.I didn't like the looks of this.Bella ran over and picked up Renesme.She held her - Still sleeping - next to Edward,trying to process what she just missed.I hadn't been able to tell much from Seth's head.He was mostly so paniced nothing made since but random words,some of them curses,some of them sounded like he was over-reacting.
"Whats wrong?" Bella asked,looking back and forth from the two of us.Edward looked at her and sighed.
"Leah went out to check on things for the night with Quil,because Jacob and Seth were here with Nessie,and She caught a Newborn.She chased it until she was out of Quil's reach and none of them can get any of her thoughts at the momment.Seth is terrified." He explained.Bella's expression got more and more concerned as he spoke.Edward sighed seeing her face.He turned around and walked up to Carlisle.He explained now to Carlisle.Talking to fast for me to process anything of it.Carlisle listened closely to every detail,nodding every once and a while.When Edward's mouth finally stopped moving,Carlisle made a face of disgust.He glanced up at me and sighed.He walked over to me and Bella.The cell phone rang again.Edward still had it in his palm.He looked at the name but didn't recodnize it so he walked over to stand in-between Carlisle and Bella in front of me.He held out the phone to me.It was Quil.I answered it.
"Hello?" I asked in a surprised voice.Quil sighed.
"Jeez that girl is frustraiting." He said without replying to my question greeting.
I chuckled without humor."I know what you mean..." I muttered and glanced up at Edward.Quil sighed again.
"I feel sorry for Seth.... I'm surprised he isn't mad at me.." He muttered half-talking to himself.I sighed again.
"Seth has no reason to be mad at you." I said back.Still watched Edward cautiously as he listened to every word of the convorsation and both mine and Quil's minds.Quil was silent for a momment then he took a deep breath.
"I should've stopped her." He complained to himself.It was almost like a whine the way he said it.I rolled my eyes.
"We'll find her.I promise." I regreted that.I couldn't tell the future.I glanced at Alice standing next to Jasper a few feet behind Edward,Bella,and Carlisle.I chuckled.She could but not when any of us were anywhere near her.Quil sighed reading my thoughts.
"Ya. I dunno about that." He whined again.I growled alittle.Renesme slowly opened her eyes in Bella's arms.She looked at me and closed her eyes sleepily again but opened them and looked at Edward.He must've talked,and by Renesme's reaction.I'm guessing he said 'Seth' at some point.Renesme looked at me alittle worried.Bella whispered to her - Also talking at the speed of light - something I didn't understand,but Renesme's expression relaxed and she was happy again.I half-smiled at her and sighed.I had forgotten I was on the phone for a momment.
"Well Quil... Tell S-Him.." I glanced at Renesme not wanting to upset her again."That we'll find her.Bye." I hung up before he could argue with me.I looked around at each of the Cullen's.
Alice was worried for a split second but didn't seem to care much consitering it was about wolves.Jasper was explaining the search and rescue plan he had gotten together to Emmett.Emmett was listening to every word with a grin on his face.Bella was concerned but she craddled Renesme and tryed to hide it.Edward was talking to Carlisle about - What I guessed - where to look for her.Esme was horrified as she listened to Edward and Carlisle.She put a hand on Edward's shoulder.Her eyes full of concerned.She watched me closely from the corner of her eye.Rosalie didn't seem to care but she stood at Emmett's side looking annoyed.I sighed.


Jasper's plan was to search for the scent,and once they caught it they would follow it as far as possible - Hoping she'd be at the end of it.Jasper brought up the idea that the Newborn had possibly killed her but I glared and rolled my eyes so that idea didn't last long.Edward told me to call Sam and his group to help while he and Carlisle called Tanya to double check on any unusual killings around the US.Sam wouldn't answer.I tryed Paul.He picked up immedeatly."Whats wrong?" He said without even trying to greet.
I sighed."Its a long story..." I muttered.Paul stayed silent.Ignoring my reply and wanting a better answer.I told him about the Cullen's having to go hunt.He grew impaitent with that and growled through the phone.
"Get to the point." He snarled.I chuckled.
"Leah didn't listen to me.She went anyway.She came across a New bloodsucker and chased it.Quil was the only one with her and she never came back.Seth was helping me take care of Renesme." I explained without stopping once and only saying the things he wanted to hear.He was silent for a momment processing this and thinking it through.I don't know what he thought of it.Since I was now my own pack his head was out of my reach.It was a frustraiting silence.
"I'll be there.With Sam." He finally said and cut off.
I handed hit 'End' and handed it to Carlisle."They're coming." Edward said.Suddenly standing at Carlisle side in front of me.I growled alittle that he didn't let me talk.I guess it was childish but I hated he knew every word I thought.I looked at Carlisle and nodded.Carlisle sighed alittle of relief and took the phone from my hand.He dialed Tanya's number.I walked over and sat next to Bella on the couch.Renesme was asleep in Rosalie's arms across the room.
"I feel bad for Seth..." Bella whispered to me and turned her head slightly to look at me.
I sighed and nodded. "Me too.. You don't want to know the idea's his frantic mind is pulling up..." I muttered. Bella frowned.
"I think your right." She agreed.She glanced at Renesme.
"Don't tell her.If she knew Seth was upset she'd be.She's very smart and loving for an infant." I smiled.Bella laughed alittle.
"Yes I know she is.. I won't." She smiled and stood up.She disappeared out of thin-air.I grumbled.There was a knock on the door.Rosalie glared at me - It must be Sam.I stood up and went to the door.Sam,Paul,and Embry were standing in a row at the doorway.They all had their arms crossed and Sam was glaring.
"How's Seth?" Sam said immedeatly.
"A train wreck." I muttered.Sam sighed.
"Poor kid." He muttered back and stared at the ground.
"Either come in or go out!" Rosalie complained.I growled and walked out the door to stand with them.I shut the door behind me.Sam glared at the door for a momment but turned back to me.
"We'll leave now.We'll bring her back when we find her." He said,still staring right through me as though he was standing in front of a brick wall.I nodded.Paul and Embry continued to stand silently on each side of him.I watched the way he always made it plural.I grinned alittle remembering doing the same.Sam raised and eyebrow finally looking at me and not through me.I sighed.
"Okay that's fine." I said and nodded.Sam nodded once and walked away,Toward the woods.Paul and Embry followed behind him like shadows.They soon disapeared into the darkness of the trees.A few seconds later I heard Sam's wolf howl from within the trees.I smiled alittle and opened the door again.
Sam and his troops came up empty.Emmett and Jasper came up empty.Tanya said there was one suspious death that she knew of but nothing more.Seth was getting more and more worried as the days went by.
