His hands stayed on my back, not moving anywhere else. He respected me, that was more than I could say for more than half of the boys in my school. He wrapped his hands in my hair and pushed me closer to him. He was colder than me - colder than normal. I didn't care though. He was absoulutely perfect.
"Bridget!" I unwrapped my arms from around Phillip and turned around to see Leslie.
"Hey, Leslie! Happy Birthday babe." I gave her a hug and looked at her dress. Shiny, silvery and outlandish - Leslie had definitely picked it.
"So, are you having fun? Isn't this place the best?"
"It's great Leslie. You did a good job with the place."
"Thanks. Everyone seems to love it." Leslie looked around.
"Well, it's definitely not what I expected."
"I'll take that as a compliment," she said as she laughed. "What have you been doing?"
"Oh, I've just been hanging out wi-" I turned around and stopped midsentence. Phillip was gone. It was as if he had simply vanished. I looked around the warehouse but he was no where to be seen.
"Bridget, you okay?" Leslie looked concerned.
"Yeah, I just...I thought I saw someone." There was no way I had made all of that up.
"Allright. We'll talk more later?"
"Definitely." She gave me a hug and walked off. I began to look around for Phillip. I walked around the bottom floor of the warehouse, greeting people I knew, and being introduced to people I didn't. Kara saw me from across the room and waved. I waved back and continued to look for him. Growling, I walked back to the corner I was in earlier. I couldn't see everybody. For all I knew I could have passed him multiple times.
I suddenly thought of the platform where the DJ was on. With luck, I should be able to see him from up there. As I climbed the steps I saw several couples dancing to Kevin Rudolph's Let It Rock. Finally gettign to the top, I looked around the floor for Phillip.
" Looking for me?" Turning around I saw him standing behind me.
"Yes, actually. Why did you run off like that?"
"Questions would have arised if you had been seen in a dark corner with me. I was trying to save you an explanation." His eyes gazed deeply into mine, almost as if he was trying to make me go along with him.
"Well isn't that chilvirous of you." He held out his hand for me to grab so we could dance again. One Republic's Apologize was playing and several couples started dancing. I grabbed his hand and danced with him. He spun me around and caught me so that my lips weren't more than an inch from his. I danced with him and once gazed into his eyes. I had the urge to kiss him again but -against my better judgement- decided not to.
