He paused to take it all in; then he said, “Trust me; I’m probably more dangerous than you are. You need to stop putting yourself down. Whatever you are doesn't matter. You hating it makes you a good person." I laughed at the thought of a person more dangerous than me.
"Right now I don't look dangerous but you just wait. Have you ever heard of the hulk?" I knew I was going to regret this later but I had to warn him.
"Yeah, why?" now he looked worried. "Well, same concept, but worse outcome." yes, I already regretted it when I saw his face.
"You turn into a monster when you get too angry?"
"Not in that way," I groaned; he was thinking I grew huge and green, “my body doesn't look different but I am changed. I can't control it either. I’ll explain more later, the bell is about to ring."
Just then it did ring and we left together towards my car. I actually looked around as we walked. I saw the evil glares from all the jealous girls, and I saw the admiring stares I got from the love sick boys. The one place I didn't look was at James. I was getting butterflies in my stomach. That wasn't good. I had an urge to reach out and hold his hand. This was bad very bad. I was getting very attached.
"I have to speak with my brothers. Then I’ll meet you at your car."
"Okay," then I blushed at the thoughts I was getting about our car ride to come. He cocked his head to the side curiously.
"What?" he asked. I blushed again from being caught.
"Nothing." I couldn't stop a giggle from escaping my lips. He sighed; frustrated because I didn't answer his question. Then he strode off towards his brothers.
I got into my car and waited. I was getting really anxious now. How would I explain to him what I was? Would I scare him away? Would his secret be as bad as mine? All of these questions bounced around in my head. My breathing became faster. What was I doing? No, that question was too late; "what had I done?" was the right question to ask. That’s when the passenger car door opened and James got in. he looked a little angry, but his voice was calm when he said, “okay, lets go." I started the car and drove on the ten minute drive home. For the whole drive I kept my eyes on the road; I didn't want him to see how panicked I was.
We pulled up to my house and got out of the car. I brought him up to my room. My stomach did frightened flips. My room was small and completely empty besides the bed and books on the floor. He looked around the room and smiled at the books.
"You read a lot?" he asked. He smiled and took my breath away.
"Yeah, I love to read. Usually the classics. My dad works at the library so I have easy access to books. Do you like reading?"
"yes, I love it too.” he seemed delighted. We didn't speak for a while. Then he said, “so..."
"I’ve got an idea. How about we both say our secret at the same time?"
"Deal. Ready?" he said "on three then. One...two...three!"
"Siren” I said.
"Vampire" James said.
