Playing With Darkness Chapter 1 Blood on the sheets

Chapter 1 Blood On the Sheets

it's November and it's quite chilly. i walk on the sidewalk on my way to see a friend of mine. her name is Mandy and she's a half breed teen like me. i am very annoyed when i see she is with friends of hers. friends who are not mine. they're all standing on a porch. all half breeds.

"Hey, Mandy," i say when i get close enough.

"Hey, Luey," she says, a half smoked cigarette between two of her fingers. she's wrapped up in a red and black checker board coat. strands of her blonde hair sticking out like static.

"Yeah, hey Luey," Luc says. he takes her cigarette and smokes some of it. his sleek black hair covering his forehead and his right eyebrow. his eyes are icy blue. Mandy's are purple like mine. the wind blows. a school bus stops and some high school kids get off. a few of them stare at us with eager eyes. they know what we are. one girl waves her hand and giggles. Luc smiles at her, giving her false hope. he is not a fan of humans. he would only kill that girl after he uses her. i just wish these humans weren't so naive about us. Mandy turns her attention back to me.

"So there's this woman who wants to try it," she says. Gregory swipes his shoe across the pavement. his hair is brown and straight. his eyes are purple. the most innocent of the four of us standing here. his human mother gave him away after his birth. he was raised by a full blood vampire named Jessica who is a teacher. Gregory once told me if he ever gets to find his birth mother, he will kill her for giving him away. he barely says a word, but is much nicer than Luc. "she wants a gangbang," Mandy continued. Gregory and Luc snickered. "she's tall. got nice form. there'll be enough for all four of us."

"where'd you meet this woman?" i asked. Mandy took her cigarette back from Luc. he blew smoke out of his nose. "in some convenient store. i was getting a snack and she just walked up to me like i'm some hooker who can give her what she wants. she gave me her address." Mandy pulled a piece of paper from her jean pocket. her lips pressed around her cigarette, keeping it from falling out of her mouth.

"that is sick," Luc exclaimed. "is she hot?"

Mandy's eyebrows came together. "i don't know," she snatched the paper from Luc. "you in?" she asked me.

"sure. i'm here aren't i," i shrugged my shoulders. Mandy turned her head up the steps.

"we're here," Mandy spoke to an invisible person. Luc chuckled. a girl from the school bus walked up the steps. we moved just enough to give her enough space to get through. she tensed up passing through us, over curious. she unlocked the door and walked inside the house.

"no way. this just got awesome," Luc said.

"leave her kid alone," Mandy said.

"so when do we pounce," Luc asked.

"when the daughter leaves for bible school," Mandy said. Luc snickered.

"so how long we gotta wait 'til?" Gregory asked, growing impatient.

"just an hour," Mandy said. i sighed. then Luc sighed. Gregory pressed his lips together, then he went to sit on the steps, passing through me, and Mandy and Luc who stood next to each other facing me. i could feel my face creating a bored and mad expression the longer we stood outside. the wind blew a few strands of my dark brown hair into my eyes. Luc checked his watched. Gregory stood back up and stretched his scrawny arms. it was time. the door opened and the girl came out wearing a different outfit. a demure light pink vest with a white shirt under it and blue jeans. she glared at us, wondering what are we still doing out here on her front porch. she held her coat in one arm and her bible in the other arm. the bookbag on her back had her name scribbled in green magic marker. Claire. she walked through us and looked back. her hair was blonder than Mandy's. it was also much thinner and clinged around her face and stopped at her shoulders. her eyes were hazel. she looked about 11.

"Run along, little girl," Mandy said to her, as she still stared. she walked down the street and was out of sight. but i could still hear her shoes walking along the pavement. she was just farther away. someone peeked out the blinds. then they came and opened the door. we all looked.

"Hi, ma'am," Luc said. Mandy elbowed him.

"Hi. we met in the Lucky Seven?" Mandy said. the woman nodded. she had glasses on and was demurely dressed. definitely didn't look like the type of person to ask favors from vampires. i wonder if it mattered that we are only half bloods. did she know? what did Mandy tell her? Mandy probably lied and said we were full bloods.

"i'm Samantha," she said to us her name, the ones that didn't know it.

"i'm Luc," Luc said, his eyes running up and down Samantha's body slowly and eagerly.

"and this is Greg and Luey," Mandy said. Samantha opened the door wider and we walked in.

"wow, nice place," Luc complimented. pastel colors were the theme in the living room and throughout the house. the tv was on some religious channel.

"do you guys wanna snack? do you guys eat?" Samantha asked, anxious to please us. her hair was long, wavy and blonde. she had big green eyes. she was wearing a long white blouse with blue buttons, and jeans. maybe she was the girl's auntie or something. because she looked too young to have a kid that size.

"whatcha got?" Gregory asked.

"we're fine," Mandy said, her voice beating out Gregory's.

"i just wanna get the party started," Luc said. Samantha took a few bottles of red wine from her cabinets. probably nervous. probably having second thoughts. probably gonna use it to numb herself. but then, why even bother in the first place. humans are so complicated. Luc had a hungry expression on his face. we followed Samantha down the hall. me and Greg peaked into the little girl's room as the door was wide open. a blue stuffed unicorn hang on one of the bed knobs.

we stepped inside Samantha's bedroom. Gregory closed the door. Samantha turned around at the sound.

"no need to be jumpy. we won't hurt you," Luc said. Samantha seemed skiddish. a bottle of wine in her hand, Luc ran his fingers down her arm and made the bottle hit the cream carpet. he undid her jeans. then, he put his hands on her shoulders and pushed her down on the bed. then he parted her legs with his knee. he bent down and kissed around her neck. she started moaning. i watched, as red blood streamed down between her neck and his lips. Gregory was salivating. Samantha gave no sign that she felt the actual biting or was feeling any actual pain. she seemed okay. Gregory was hesitant about joining in this early. since Luc is usually pushy and greedy when feeding. Greg looked at me for what to do. i motioned for him to join in. he was too scared of Luc in situations like this. blood is like narcotics for Luc and he is an addict. Samantha crawled backwards on the bed, a fake smile plastered across her face. Luc followed, putting his knees on the bed. Mandy giggled when he started trying to move his body ontop of hers. she shook him off, but not enough.

"this is part of the package, baby," Luc said, pinning his body on top of Samantha's. it was clear to me that she only wanted to be sucked. and not sexually harrassed. Mandy's giggly face turned cold. Luc settled between her legs. her knees flew up. he pressed his body tightly to hers. he thrusted back and forth as he kissed her chin and her neck. the expression on Samantha's face confused Greg. Luc bit into the other side of her neck. blood gushed out. she hollared for him to stop. a totally different reaction from the first bite. he wrapped his hand behind her hips, forcing her body even closer to his. her legs quivered.

"cut it out, man," Gregory said, walking to the side of the bed. "dude, you're hurting her!" Luc reached his arm out and pushed Gregory.

"that's enough," i said. i hopped on the bed and grabbed Luc's leg. i tried to pull him off of her. Mandy joined me, taking his other leg.

"Luc, you're acting like a pyscho," Mandy laughed. he kicked both of us and we fell off the bed, and rolled onto the soft carpet. he stopped. blood was all over his mouth, his shirt, his pants. Samantha bled from both sides of her neck and from the bottom of her blouse.

"Get Out!" Samantha shouted. "Get out, all of you!" she cried. Mandy's eyes widened in shock.

"you ruin everything, man," Gregory said to Luc. Samantha was out of breath, but she managed to reach the phone. probably to call the cops. Luc snatched the phone out of the wall and grinned at her. i backed up into the door, ready to bust outta here. Mandy scooted back, next. Gregory, still thirsty, went around to Luc and grabbed his shoulders. they fought. Gregory smashed him into the bordouir. the mirror shattered and shards of glass fell on their hair and their clothes.

Samantha crawled off the bed and curled up on the floor. blood was all over the bed sheets.

"you're such an idiot!" Gregory yelled, punching Luc in the jaw. i never took Gregory for a fighter. but he was making Luc's face turn purple and blue.

"let's dissappear," Mandy told me. i didn't want to leave Greg here. but i was too scared to stick around a second longer. Mandy and i dashed down the hall.

"you're an accessory!" Samantha's voice reached us. Mandy laughed. we broke through the front door and ran down the steps. adrenaline pumping through us. fear making us keep moving. we ran down the street as far as we could. then we slowed down to catch our breaths, coming to a stop. Mandy was laughing. i laughed once, but i couldn't find the humor that she found.

"i'm so pissed. i didn't even get a taste," Mandy said.

"we should go get Greg. he didn't do nothing wrong," i said.

"no way, chika. Luc's probably killed her by now. they'll be okay. she can't call the cops on anybody," Mandy said. "not if she's dead." she pulled out a fresh cigarette and lit it with her silver cased cigarette lighter, not feeling an ounce of sympathy for Samantha or even an ounce of remorse for bringing Luc along. she should have known he'd be trouble. my beating heart stuttered inside my chest for Claire. hopefully they will have left before she gets back home. hopefully Luc will have cleaned up his mess. part of me wanted to run back there.
