The Twilight Saga

So the book of the week for July 3rd- 9th is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I picked this book because Stephenie Meyer has said she based Twilight off of this book and she mentions it a lot in the book. I have read this book many times and I love it. I hope you guys do too.

Ok so who saw Eclipse? I saw it opening night. My local theater was packed! There was so many people there, it was chaos. So far the movie has made somewhere around $106 million! I just want to say kudos to all of you for showing your twilight support.

Competition time!!! Ok so I have had this same profile image for awhile now, just about a year. I think its time for a new one, huh? So I'm asking you guys to help me. Make a design for my new profile image, it has to be something you own yourself so nothing owned by Summit (no pictures of Rob) or anything owned by anyone else. I want it to be a picture of Edward. I'm sure you all are very talented and come up with excellent ideas. Here's what you do. Make your design, email it to me at I will pick my favorite 5 and then post a blog with them and you guys will vote on one of those five and which ever one wins will be my profile image. Also the winners username will be mentioned on my page.

You must include this stuff in the email:
Your username.
The picture, preferably as an attachment to the email
Competition begins- July 4th
Competition ends- July 18th 12:00 p.m. eastern standard time.

The comment Edward makes about Wuthering Heights Cathy and Heathcliffe was made in 28.
He says they are people who ruin each others' lives and he doesn't know how Heathcliffe and Cathy are ranked with couples like Romeo and Juliet and Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy (Pride And Prejudice). It's not a love story, it's a hate story.

Notice a few of you mentioning Wuthering Heights too. Another fab book, love the Brontes - mainly cos they were born just a few miles from my house so I've grown up with the Bronte phenomena. There's also a musical called 'Heathcliffe' based on the character more than the book as a whole, but I've always thought the way Cliff Richard plays Heathcliff in it really helps you see some elements of Edward that Stephanie tries to describe. His torment and anguish really come through.

Pride and Prejudice has been one of my favourite books for so many years. Austin is an amazing writer. Such a powerfully emotional book, but it also makes me giggle at times. Love it!

Sharon, I like what you said about reading both those books "don't just read with your eyes, read with your senese" that's good. I'll start tonight. I have Wuthering Heights on my Kindle. I'll have to download Pride and Prejudice or read it online for free. Thanks.

HI! everyone Yep I have read Pride and Prejudice back when I was a Junior in High School. That was back in the early 70's. I love Jane Austin books. I also have several of the books that have been made into movies on dvd. These are great books to read. I also wanted to let everyone know that I just received my yearly catalog from MPI/Dark Shadows and on the front cover it announces the upcoming Dark Shadows movie starring Johnny Depp! For those who may not be familiar with Dark Shadows it was a popular daytime's first gothic soap opera. It had vampire, werewolfs, witches, ghosts, etc. The most famous vampire of course was Barnabas Collins played by Jonathan Frid and Quentin Collins (Werewolf) David Selby. This was about the Collins Family who lives in Collinsport, Maine. If anyone of you live close to Burbank go and check out the Dark Shadows Convention this weekend at the Burbank Airport Marriott. Jonathan Frid, David Selby, and some of the original cast members will be there including Johnny Depp. It sounds like fun. I used to go to Star Trek Convention back in the 80's and had fun.

Hi Everyone,
Just found this site. Wanted to let everyone know that you can read Pride and Prejudice online at googlebooks,it's public domain, so it's free. I'm sure most of you know this, but for those that asked, Bella is a Jane Austen fan, also Edward mentioned Pride and Prejudice to Bella. He brought it up when he was wondering why Catherine and Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights are put in the same category in romantic literature as Romeo and Juliet and Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy from Pride and Prejudice.
If you haven't read Pride and Prejudice or Wuthering Heights, please try. They are both wonderful stories. And when you read, don't just read with your eyes, read with all your senses. It's the only way to capture the true essence of a story.
Sorry, I know I get carried away, can't help it. I've read all my life and it's so much better when I can smell, taste, feel everything along with the people in the story.
I did go see Eclipse and except for a few issues, it was good. The actors are really growing into their roles.
You can just see each character grow.. Hate having to wait a year and a half for Breaking Dawn Pt. 1.

My cinema told me while I was buying popcorn that Eclipse hasn't been sold out at all but my friends and I think that it's because they show it one after the other from 10 am to 11 pm

I have read Pride and Prejudice, it is an essential classic. Recently I found a spoof called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, it was definately adorable, and hilarious. I had a ball reading it, theres another one called Moby D*** and Sea Monsters, I am looking forward to reading that one soon.
