ill pretty much do anything to act. and i mean the acting in front of a camera. and i probably wont have to worry about expenses cause ive got great grades and ive always been told i could get a full-ride to anywhere. thanks for the tips on safety schools, have any in mind?

I studied communications, not acting, and not to undermine the theater program at the college I went to, but it really isn't one to go several states out of your way for.

A couple of questions you should think about when considering colleges to look into:

How far are you willing to go distance-wise? NY and LA are a couple of obvious choices for acting programs, but going out of state for college can be really expensive and if you're looking into top acting schools, those can't be cheap.

Do you want to focus on acting in a theater or acting for the camera? They're two totally different things, and while both can be learned, not all colleges/universities necessarily have both.

But no matter where you WANT to go, do NOT neglect to apply for "safety schools". You know, those affordable state schools with smaller acting programs (where you may have a greater chance of standing out). The top schools will obviously be the most competitive, and no matter how good you may be, you may be wait-listed or you may not get in at all, and it's always good to have a cushion to fall back on. (Besides, if at first you don't succeed...)

But remember, a fair amount of great actors are ones who either got kicked out of the top acting schools or who hardly even had any background in acting at all. Hard work can get you places, but sometimes it's all just a game of chance!

Haha, I have been obsessed with TV and movies for as long as I can remember, but my knowledge actually comes from studying Film/Video in college and doing an internship at a casting company for which I still do occasional freelance work as a casting assistant.

An agent actually isn't necessary for auditioning. You should search around for local casting companies and send your headshot/resume to them. When roles come up that fit your age, gender, and overall look, they'll give you a call and ask you to come in to audition. Going straight to a casting company will definitely save you the money of going through an agency. Agencies can be helpful, but definitely not necessary.

I saw that you live in Tennessee, so I did a quick google search for casting companies there, and I found this:

I hope this helps :)

lol i dont know about the fan girls but im fine in front of cameras and tv crews and thousands of people already. and the reason i havent been looking at commercial stuff yet and other shows is cause i would probably need an agent. an im dont know even the first place to look. or how much it would cost.

I don't know how old you are, but if you really want to get into acting, you should get a professional headshot taken and start building up an acting resume -- try doing more plays, or try to find auditions for local TV shows or commercials, or if you're in college, maybe try auditioning for student movies or join some improv groups. Even if you audition for a bunch of things but don't always get parts, it's really valuable to get that experience auditioning in front of the camera.

Then by the time the audition for Breaking Dawn comes around, you'll have a professional looking headshot and you'll look comfortable in front of the camera for the actual audition -- professionalism will stand out from the hordes of screaming fangirls who know nothing about acting and the casting director will be able to tell :)

Ive done two plays in jr high before and even though i wasnt the lead in both, my teacher and the teacher who did the review both said i was amazing. i would have already been out acting all over the place had my parents let me. but now ive got total freedom. the two play were Anne Jr. (where i was Sandy the dog), and Guys and Dolls Jr.( where i was mr. Nicely-Nicely Johnson).
