The Boy Jason: The Vampyre Files (book 1)- Chapter 1

Jason opened his eyes, and then closed them again. The bright sunlight was enough to make him squint. He got out of the taxi, peered around New York, and sighed. He couldn’t find a library to save his life.

Jason wasn’t looking for a book. He needed a computer, a computer to tell him the information he needed to know, and a book just wasn’t good enough. Nope, he needed search engines, Internet databases. And he wasn’t finding any.

He’d just moved here after summer break started. He had been diagnosed with brain cancer, and they’d had to move to New York City from sunny Florida because of his disease, because he’d been too sick to take care of their house. Once he died they’d move back to Florida, but until then, they were taking care of him. They’d expected New York to be cold and rainy, but apparently this was an unusual day in NYC, and so it was hotter than usual, over 69 degrees.

He was betting on it being cold and rainy tomorrow.

Suddenly he noticed a building. A tall building with a sign marked Library in Egyptian hieroglyphs. How he understood them, he didn’t know. He was too excited to care. He’d found a library, for crying out loud! Wow… Yay, Jason thought. Lucky me.

He ran inside the library, with happiness inside his soul, but he had no idea of what he was getting himself into.

        Jason looked at the counters
