You make excellent points. Edward truly turns into a beautiful man as the saga progresses. By the end he has become very compassionately powerful. He allows his beloved Nese to be given to his former enemy (Jacob) and he says "My brother, my son! Then he turns and says I'll take on the most ferocious Volturie soldier. (insuring his death, via Martyrdom) "It will be my gift (his life) to Alice. He turns into an amazing man.
Edward and Alice are great choices. Stephanie said: To me the Twi-characters are real people. Alice and Edward two wonderful friends.
You make several excellent points. Especially that Bella wasn't certain that Jacob's story had merit or as he had said was just "old scary" stories. I think that his strength and paleness would need to be considered as strong clues. While his eye coloration a subtle one. Later in the Saga she tells him that the darker his eyes get the grumpier he gets. (Just like a baby who hasn't been fed)
Thank you for sharing, Doc
You make a powerful point: "When Edward finally "gives," in it was because he realized that Bella was making everyone happy but herself." Yes you are so right: Edward wanted to give Bella the "gift of making love." But by that time Bella had decided that she wanted to follow the custom of waiting. BUT EDWARD HAD ALREADY GIVEN HER HIS GIFT!! His gift wasn't making love, it was in compromising and OFFERING to make love with Bella before he wanted to.
You make another excellent point about Edward being the gentleman, and going into the ocean and turning his back to her. That gave her the the perfect way to slowly and modestly share herself with him. In Bella and Edward's relationship sharing and compromiseing is the key to their sucess, just exactly as it is in all of ours.
Thank you for sharing Doc
I have to agree with you I think Alice still saw Bella as a vampire sister. Bella's and Edwards split hurt the entire family as Roselie pointed out in "The phone call" (From SM's web site) "I think she knew that Bella was listening and wanted her to know that Edward was in pain just like she is. " What a superb idea. Plus she can always rationalize that she didn't tell Bella directly. But it must have killed her to watch Bella and Edward suffer every day.
I agree, If Edward had taken his life I think that Bella would have joined him.
Thanks for sharing, Doc You did such an excellent job. We sincerely look forward to learning your opinion on today's topic: http://www.thetwilightsaga.com/group/theofficialtwilightbookdiscussion/forum/topics/was-it-right-or-wrong-of-bella
