Looking up from her sketchbook, Coraline was alert enough to detect another presence with Peyton. She watched the younger woman pass her to place the bottle down on the counter in the kitchen. She sniffed slightly, the faint smell of alcohol passing through her nostrils and she almost felt drunk already from it. Of course, with the blood in the liquor, it diluted it and they really didn't even get all that drunk; it almost gave their blood flavor so to speak.
"Oh right. Jefferson, this is my roommate and friend, Coraline. Coraline, Jefferson." She called over her shoulder before rummaging through the papers on the counter top for money. Find a twenty, she slid it into her back pocket, just in case she needed money for something before reentering the living room.
"Thank you." Coraline replied in an almost monotone voice to the compliment on her rough sketch. It was probably due to the stress she felt on this particular piece and how every little thing had to be perfect otherwise her commissioners wouldn't accept it and she wouldn't be paid. She regretted practicing art because of these situations sometimes.
Jenna: " I'm a sophomore. Sadly ". She wished that she was a senior, just so she could be in the same year as him. " Are the people there friendly ? " She was really nervous to be strating school. The main reason was the fact that her dad knows which school she was going to, and he might go and find for her. She cant be hiding from him forever. The very thought of her father, made her sad all over again. Mustering up a smile, she look at james. " You're the only friend i have ".
Jenna: She loved how carefree and playful he was. For once, someone actually did put a smile on her face. Laughing at his analogy, she reached for the chocolate syrup and poured a generous amount, soaking the pancakes. Next, she sprinkled over chocolate chips. This was just the way she liked it. Using her fork and spoon, she tucked in,placing the first bite in her mouth. It was heavenly. The pancake was very fluffy and tasty. She had to stop hersf from moaning at how good the pancakes were. Realising that james was so there, she cut a piece and held it out to him. " Open your mouth, big boy " Looking at him, she was positive that she was developing feelings for him.
The first time Peyton was ever asked that question about food once she turned, she blurted out quickly that she was a bulimic. She felt like such an idiot afterwards but she was glad to scare away whoever questioned her about her eating habits. But now, with more experience from then, she didn't feel weird about those typical types of questions.
"To be honest I can't remember the last time I've eaten a home cooked meal." Well, she was telling the truth and that definitely wasn't a lie. Blood had a distant taste that she couldn't match with anything else so the reminisce of eating was long gone. "What's your favorite thing to eat?"
Pulling her keys out, Peyton unlocked the door of the house and poked herself in first, scanning the living room. Once it was cleared, for only Coraline was still in her artist mode on the sofa, she walked inside, motioning for Jefferson to follow her in.
Jenna: " Yes please " Hopping down from the counter, she leaned back instead, crossin her ankles. " Soo..what year are you in in school ? " She just wanted to make a small talk with him, to avoid any awkward situations. She was hoping that he would be in the same year as her, as he is the only friend that she have. She was going to start school on monday, and she had no choice, but to go as a new student. She was dreading it.
Turning her head to look over her shoulder, Peyton chuckled slightly and waited for Jefferson to catch up to her. Once he did, she resumed walking again. With one hand gripped tightly at the neck of the whiskey bottle, the other bunched up the front of her coat to add more insulation from the cold to her body. She wanted spring to come sooner so it wouldn't have to be so cold, now it was just getting ridiculous. That or she'll have to become a bear and hibernate.
"Nah, I don't mind." She replied simply. Not like she could get jealous anyway, she wasn't able to eat at all anymore. Turning swiftly down the corner of town onto her block, she removed her hand from her coat into her pocket, double checking to make sure she had her keys. Feeling the metal still there she sighed to herself in relief. Last thing she wanted was to get locked out again for the third time this week.
Jenna: She smiled up at him. A real one this time. This guy really knew how to make her happy. Never in her 17 years of life, she had someone cared about her this much. Leaning back on her palms, she just watched how gracefully he moved. Eventhough she had only known him for a day and a few hours, she really liked him. She didnt know hot to deacribe the feeling she had for him, buy it was definitely more than a crush. However, she wouldnt want him to know about it. She had already burden him enough with her problems. She was also sure that he wouldnt like a girl like her. Looking at the pancake that he was cooking, made her hungrier. At home, she never felt hungry It wasn't that she was starving herself. She just didnt have the mood and appetite to eat.
Jenna: Upon reaching the house, she silently got out of the car and into the house, which was unlocked. He must have forgotten to do it. Gettong inside, she went straight for the kitchen counter. She was starving, just from thinking of her endless problems. She just wished she had someone to tell everything to. " Do you need help " She asked james, not wanting to just appear as a lazy girl. She loved helping people at any chance, but she couldnt even help herself. Getting up, she had the urge to go up and hug him. Pushing that thought aside, she just went and hugged him around the waist. " Thanks. For everything" She said, her voice muffled.
Thinking about it for a moment, Peyton shrugged her shoulders. It didn't hurt her if he wanted to join her on the walk back home. Although a part of her would have preferred to make this trek alone and then call him when she was done. How come human men always thought as if their women needed them all the time? She'll never know the answer to that one, nor did she feel like thinking too much about how different the species' were.
"Sure, I mean if you want to come with me I don't have a problem with it." Peyton silently prayed to whatever god existed that she wouldn't be walking in on some feeding fest once she got home. Turning herself the opposite way, she looked up at Jefferson curiously.
"Well I don't think you'd have to worry about that." Peyton admitted with a shrug. "I'd be alright but if you'd like to join me you can."
She didn't want Jefferson to get all bashful about this and she didn't want him to feel awkward. She wasn't going to call him out about it or make him feel uncomfortable about it, she was in no spot to judge so she immediately shrugged off the past event.
"I mean, we can do something tonight if you want, I don't really mind that." She continued, looking up at him and curtly nodded her head.
Jenna: Giving him a small smile to assure him that she was fine, she stayed where she was, with his hand cradling her face. The urge to kiss him was growing and she had to force herself to not to look at his lips. She didnt want him to think of her as some desperate chick. Turning away from him, she looked down at her lap, playing with the rings on her fingers. She was sure that the thought of kissing him was making her blush. " I'll live with you " She was new to all this. For the past 10 years, her father had been abusing her. A day without it felt foreign.
"Well, I mean it's whatever-" Peyton's body tensed at the sudden comment and her breath hitched in her throat. Her eyes widened in shock as she did a triple take down at Jefferson's head at her neck. The walls of her stomach clenched in and she immediately felt this weird and unnatural feeling in her stomach. It definitely wasn't from hunger, otherwise the sounds would have gyrated around in her torso and out into the public.
In a panic for not knowing how to continue, she side stepped away from him, the shock still plastered onto her face. Opening her mouth, she regained her ability to speak again.
"I'm um... I'm going to go bring this back home." She stated quietly, motioning to the bottle, its neck clasped around her hand balled into a fist.
